They’re disposable characters used to further to story of main characters, however, they don’t want to invest the time into researching properly legal process for abuse cases. It’s easy to have them come in, be a bad person, influence a main character’s behaviour, and then they’re discarded. It’s cheap and lazy.

I think as well they are scared of making them more than reprehensible villains so there’s not much you can do with them

@ This is it, but when people do face justice for bad things, they always find a way of bringing them back when they’re struggling for new material for someone. Like deciding Nathan would be on a building site in close proximity to a victim??? What the fuck?

@ yeah they do often struggle with how to do it . I think they are often limited
      1. They won’t do a story where the accuser/victim is actually lying or confused because it will send the wrong message
      2. They will rarely portray the abuser as sympathetic so they usually come across as over the top
      3. The lack of sympathy or grey area means it’s very hard to do something with the character long term and they sink into greater villainy then leave
      4. They are a source of easy conflict so they like to bring them back but once they come back they can’t do much beyond a revenge storyline because are usually too evil to do anything else

This is why i loved Meena's exit on Emmerdale. She faced justice. Unlike crap awful abysmal Coronation Street who just kills them off all the time. But then again from a show with terrible abysmal actors and writers i expect nothing less.
