For those who has never picked up and learned to play an instrument, slow down the song a bit. We all agree this song is more lit the 1000 years of cinco de mayo on the sun. But if you slow it down you'll hear every thump, every pick, every deliberate note this man is playing and you will be truly amazed by the talent this man possess. This is Coltrane today (Flylo's Great Auntie and Uncle would be proud)!
I just discovered this, and 3 of my coworkers are former bandgeeks and one still plays; so I went in with this song ready to play on my phone. We're all impressed, except for this one new kid walks over to listen, and then looks at me, very bored and unimpressed, and says "Really? That's it?"
I can't even explain the music in words that will mean anything to him. He literally doesn't understand enough to appreciate this.
Thundercat really isn't my style. I'm a heavy metal kid at heart, but that doesn't matter when it comes to appreciating raw, legendary talent. Stephen Bruner really is a virtuoso. Jazz has never "reached" me, but I'd take tickets to see this live in half a heartbeat.

As someone who's played music, studied, and has a sort of special interest due to ADHD just LOVING every little bit of a song that comes together to make something AWESOME...it really hurts when my friends don't understand the raw power and beauty of a song like this. Like they don't hurt me; the fact that some people can't understand and appreciate it on that level hurts me. I want everyone to love stuff like this 😭

Sat for two hours last night in a basement tattoo parlor in an unfamiliar town with six of my friends while they got piercings done. The stereo was playing tons and tons of very sub-par rap music, and I was beginning to lose hope that I'd leave the place with my sanity intact, then suddenly out of nowhere this song came on.
It was revelatory. Reinvigorating. It was as if God Himself reached down with a fist of musical beauty and punched me right between the face.

Suppose you haven't heard him play bass then? He plays bass guitar on loads of his tunes. Listen to the second half of 'Hello Meow' for instance. He also literally has an entire album where all he does is play bass.

I walked down the hallway of a rehearsal space for metal bands the other day and I heard a band copping the drum and bass parts of this song and one of the guitarists trying to fret tap a solo like he was Eddie Van Halen. But they just couldn't keep up. And the lead singer of this band was throwing hissy fits (as lead singers of amateur metal bands often do) and screaming unprintable things at the drummer. It was just a mess.
