Even mobile gamers got a taste of the action!
Developed by Raven Software using Unreal Engine technology, the game earned an Uncaged Edition tag for non-Nintendo consoles and PC, boasting a Mature 17+ rating. This allowed players to experience the unbridled, visceral violence synonymous with Wolverine's character. The Nintendo DS version, with its tamed violence and reduced resolution, received an Everyone 10+ rating. Meanwhile, the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable editions earned a Teen rating, aligning with the PG-13 superhero violence from the film.
Sadly, X-Men Origins: Wolverine faced delisting from digital storefronts on January 1, 2014, following the expiration of Activision's licensing deal with Marvel. This marked the end of an era, as it was the final Wolverine game published by Activision before the license expired.
In terms of gameplay, X-Men Origins draws inspiration from acclaimed titles like God of War and Devil May Cry, offering a third-person perspective. The Uncaged Edition cranks up the intensity with copious amounts of blood and gore, showcasing Wolverine's brutal combat skills and healing factor. Players can engage enemies through light attacks, heavy attacks, grabs, and lunges, with Wolverine's rage meter unlocking devastating attacks like the claw spin and berserker mode.
As for the storyline, the game weaves together elements from the Wolverine film and an original plot crafted by Raven Software. Set in Angola, Africa, players embark on Wolverine's journey, exploring his past with Team X, led by Col. Stryker. The plot unfolds through a gripping series of events, from a village massacre to Wolverine's quest for revenge after a betrayal.

How do you hate him if you haven’t even saw the movie? But yeah this was more like DeafPool which is why Wade went back in time at end of DP2 to kill him. He was cool in the movie before being turned into this OP disaster. But they needed a final boss and Wolverine can’t kill Sabretooth so…

The fact this old wolverine game has more fighting animations than insomniacs Spiderman is embarrassing.. insomniac should be ashamed of themselves..
Not referring to the cutscene type finishers but the basic combat moves. Spiderman only has like 5 attack moves

Dude what are you on about? The combat in Spiderman is amazing it’s even better in SM2.
I can tell people who haven’t played doesn’t realize the amount of time insomniac’s animations take. Not only that but the combat system has way more options to do, air, gadgets, web strikes, on the ground combat, to dodging many times like dodging underneath the enemy, to perfect dodge or just normal dodging and ever wall jump attacks. You can do a lot with the games with this. You also have to realize that this game had more time, because of the writers strike at the time, people of course don’t realize that or care to actually research or know what they are talking about. Insomniac’s Spider-man development took years to make. Not only SM2 Covid and writer’s strike again.
