- Turbo Acura TL at a Drag Strip? - That’s a First For Us! A bit unusual setup on it’s own, but to see one at a drag strip caught us off guard! However, this seemed to be the theme of the weekend and all sorts of unexplainable things went down at our local drag strip! From Beater Bomb losing all the way to cars doing 360’s in the middle of the track, and at that point we figured why not get real weird and throw some bike racing into the mix! 1320Video is a proud supporter of local racing and we try to make sure we show some love to the local racers and track whenever we can, so attending The Shop Inc’s “Head’s Up” No Prep Event at our local I29 Dragway was a must! Each of these no prep events grows bigger and the variety of cars that shows up raises the bar a little bit higher each time! Drawing all kinds of midwest projects, builds and even some of Discovery Channel’s “Street Outlaw’s”, these events are a no brainer!

The 07 Acura TL is one of my favorite cars. My uncle used to work at the Acura dealer ship and would take me for rides in the Type-S. Loved that car. I think it would have been worlds better if it were AWD or RWD

Acura TL-S is my dream car but turbo ? Na.... 6 speed with full bolts on is enough . J series are mostly high compresion motors and reallg hard to work on and heard rumors of them blowing up while slapping a turbo on it. Motor ans trans is perfect from factory in my opinion turboing it is a waste of money to me. I feel like this car is meant for the street not strip.
Joseph Lugo err it’s hard to turbo because of the manifolds, not because of its engine. The J series is a great engine to mod, they can make up too 600 hp on stock internals.

Michael Montefusco He's trying to "stage" his vehicle. Basically he's inching forward so that his front tires are in between the staging beams. That's like, the true starting line at a drag strip. Notice the yellow lights at the very top of the tree. When top lights come on (pre-stage beams), that means that means you're near the starting line. You then need need to roll forward a few inches in order to light up the lower set (staged beams). Once the two sets a both lit, that means that your car is at the starting line. The Christmas tree (the lights) won't count down to green until both top sets of lights are lit...so, since the two beams are only inches apart, they have to scoot up pretty carefully to make sure that their front tires stay in between the beams.
As far as why that particular car was so bouncy, his front suspension was very soft. That's kind of a good thing for him. It's rear wheel drive vehicle, so when he takes off, he wants all the weight of the car to shift to the rear to help with traction. If the front suspension was too firm, that weight transfer wouldn't occur as much.
Also, take this into consideration. A lot of automatic drag cars have stalls in them. These are basically torque converters that allowed a vehicle to take off at at higher RPM. So unlike a normal Road car, instead of taking off at around 800 RPM, stalls allow a car to take off closer to 3500 to 4000 RPM. This allows the car to take off faster, but when you need to make small movements, like inching forward, your engines revved up pretty high so you have to be pretty jerky with the brakes in order to keep it from lunging forward too much.

Why do people hold the car while it’s burning tire? I think that it’s stupid. The car have it’s own ability, if it wants to swerve it’ll swerve and that’s when those dumb people we’ll get hurt.
My issue with modding is that mods usually end up costing as much as the car is worth and depreciate the value like crazy then if u buy a used car your putting more in mods then the car is worth and it’s a bunch of fuck. The only solution is winning the lottery where money doesn’t matter so you can do what the fuck you want because modding some cars is literally throwing the money away.
Tl driver needs major driver mod. However .... those 6spd short gears are fucking him as well and the suspension is def unrefined. With the wheel hop reduced and a better final drive he could do so much better.
