CA has so many, but I think a place that not a lot of people considered as must visit that I think is quite unique and somewhat of a privilege is USS Midway and Hornet, we are after all one of the few nations in the world that ever made aircraft carriers, and perhaps the only one with museum ship of it. Since we scrap the last few decommissioned ones, I think USS Midway will be the largest you will be able to tour in at least a few decades if ever.

Often overlooked spots for a hike and nature walk are Franklin Canyon and Tree People followed by a visit to Beverly Glen Deli for lunch.
The views may not be as epic as some hikes, but I love feeling like I’m away from the city every once in awhile.

CA bucket list is endless. It’s such an enormous state with such diversity. In LA there are the two Gettys, Huntington Library and Gardens, Santa Monica Pier and Venice and Malibu. There are all the incredible national parks like Yosemite and sequoia and the redwoods and lassen volcanic. Then there’s hwy 395 and the jaw dropping eastern sierras. Then there’s Big Sur and the Mendocino coast. Iconic San Francisco can’t be left out. Look forward to what you come up with

Fantastic video... I look forward to seeing more of your bucket list adventures. I crossed off a CA bucket list item a few weeks ago while visiting family in southern Orange County. Growing up in the Saddleback Valley, Modjeska and Santiago Peaks were and are prominent landmarks to the east. I realize that this is probably not a bucket list item for anyone else, but for personal nostalgic reasons, I wanted to climb them - and I finally made it up both peaks on a cold windy morning last month. You really get great views up there, especially from Modjeska Peak.

Great video/channel - I do have a general question about hiking safely in CA - how do you advise people be aware of mountain lions and coyotes along the trails you hike? I realize attacks on humans are rare but still I’m curious if as an avid hiker you have any tips on safety around these animals for less experienced hikers.

    • @californiathroughmylens

Thanks for the question. Honestly, I don't really think about Mountain Lions or Coyotes at all. I have done hundreds of miles of hiking and never even seen Mountain Lion tracks. I have seen Coyotes a few times but they are always super scared of me and running the other way.
