Man, you should do a Study The Greats on this guy
Hah!
Haaahaa best comment ever .. busted laughing...
Austin, your traditional grip,is killer. I do match grip. At 61,I'm all about being better. Your vids inspire me!
WOW! That snare sound is amazing, one of the best I've heard in my entire life. Of course, your playing is amazing too :P
...sounds like an accurate high tuned metal snare (brass?) without muffling.....
bronze!
You have to give credit to the player, the tuning, and especially the mics. They sound incredible.
It's the drummer, not the gear
man everything about this video was great! the playing, the the mix, the tuning, the cymbals. holy sh*t i just cant stop watching!
Legend has it that Austin is still playing up to this day..
DANG! This mix is Amazing! Keep it up! Really inspiring
Wow. Precise, expressive, explosive, dynamic, creative, technical. Everything you want and need! 🤌👌🥁
Excellent as always. Kit sounds great. Keep it up.
You have a great style of drumming. I could listen to you all day. Such incredible precision and finesse. I want to be able to play like this.
Very kind Austin you keep the fire of drumming Alive.
The sound and mixing of your drums and Louie Palmer's are incredible. Were that not enough, the content both of you provide is excellent! Congrats.
The playing is awesome as always, but I love your lighting and video quality in this! Great stuff
Excellent as always!!!
That sticking and snare sound is superb
Bravo, really! Amazing sound!
beautiful sound!
As much as I love Study The Greats, it's excellent to see you just doing your thing. Bravo!

What a killer sound man
okay. these videos are awesome! period.
Killer chops, Austin!
Awesome everything!!!! :)
"Study the greats: Austin Burcham's hoodie removal" when?
Haha some things you just can't teach... you can either do it or you can't.
@@abbdrums Well the least you could do is provide the notation on a pdf for that.
lol
Man these comments
That’s very nice! One can really hear the jazz influences.
Very nice!
pure drums - great
Simply Phenomenal...
got dayum your drums sound amazing. so flow. many has.
Just now realized this was you lol... when you gonna start posting some vids dude?! RUclips is ready for Sum Drums.
Great playing!
amazing,
nice sounding drumming...
Nice chops!👍
TOTALLY SICK!!!
You are an excellent drummer.
So tasty! One of the few drummers on youtube who can articulate so well. Great job Austin!
Well rounded playing all in all. It'd be very interesting to see you play alongside extreme metal haha. Elliot Hoffman's work comes to mind.
What a sweet ass sounding kit, and that hats are evil.
I like the way you play.
Getting lots of gear questions! Detailed list is here 👉🏼 www.abbdrums.com/gear
Bravo excellent
very nice sound
Hey Austin...love the pocket on this one......very cool!! I have a suggestion - I have a recording by one of the bass greats - Alain Caron and Le Band (1993). Track 7 is a classic called "Freedom Jazz dance". About 2:09 minutes in (and again later at 2:52) Magella Cormier fills with a flam based break that rocks the house....(one of my all-time favorites) I have tried to figure this out a few times but never felt like I had it. Wanna take a run at it??
YEAH MAN! Nice.
I think Austin's "mutant" drum- playing powers lie in his beard!! 😂👍🙂
GO AUSTIN! NICENESS!!! 👍🙂
Good job 😌✌️
Man you got it
Great video
Thanks buddy!
wich drumkit do you have?
good skills good sound! i hope this is not alone for in youre room and for youtube. for the big stage
Bravo
What hats are those? Look like Byzance Jazz Thins, but they sound sharper than what I’d usually expect from them...
Nice playing
More content just like this, please.
Sounds und looks crispy as always! Wich Overheads did you use in that video? And wich position?
Earthworks SR25's in a spaced pair 👌🏼
"Don't look at fat." (zooms in on fat). Nice work man. Love your videos
What type of snare do you use
Nice.
Oh you tasty mufkah...
Haha workin on it!
You sound great man .....beautiful touch and control. What snare are you using there - Love it!
Thanks! It's the Pearl Sensitone Phosphor Bronze 14x5.
@@abbdrums OMG i had that exact snare and sold it when i moved countries ...now i wish I hadn't sold it !
damn....this is what falling in love with a beautiful swedish woman does to your snare drum collection !
For your Q&A somteimes. Why and how did you change position of your cymbals and toms? Is there some new ergonomy aproach? Love your vids by the way. Thanks for your work.
NiKenDaCk I’ve gone back and forth b/t different setups over the years. I actually did the high angled fusion setup way back in the day as you can see here ruclips.net/video/8FNmDDHxoAE/видео.html
Then I switched to more of a pop/fusion style w/ match grip and everything lower and flatter for a while.
Then over the past couple years I’ve come back to traditional grip and the high angled fusion thing again haha.
For some reason the higher setup with everything angled in more aggressively feels more ergonomic and easy to play. It’s like you’re surrounded by the kit and play into it instead of down onto it... kinda tough to explain but hopefully that helps a little bit!
Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Is it possible to get any cleaner than this? His technique is absolutely astounding.
Sir austin what camera you are using? Tnx
Canon 80D w/ a Sigma 18-35 f1.8
Delight!
Nice
Great Great Great Austin. What do you think about the Three Camps.?
Played that a lot back when I was at M.I. That was part of our technique class with Rob Carson. Great piece to work on.
nice
What drumset is that? Sounds killer...
Pearl Masterworks Maple... full gear list is here! www.abbdrums.com/gear
You have excellent hands,..that was very tasteful.
What's this snare? Amazing sound brow!
Pearl Sensitone Phosphor Bronze 14x5 👍🏼
@@abbdrums thanks, I'll ask Pearl to send me one of these. hahaha!
That snare. How do you tune, using any devices (tune bot for me) or just to ear? Great tone with a dark smack. Love the playing, of course...
Pretty dang high... both heads are cranked up. I don't use any tuning tools for the snare, just bring it up and up until it starts cracking and cutting how I like.
@@abbdrums Obviously, head choice plays a factor, too. If you don't mind, which heads are you using here? It just sounds so good...
Good ol’ Ambassadors! Pretty old and worn in too, like I like em.
how do you record your kick,,,man that kick sounds good
Audix D6 inside with an Earthworks SR20LS on the outside, blended together.
Thanks
Things i dream about :))
Alisson Becker is pretty good both on the pitch and at drums
Mmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhmmmmmmm!
Nasty!!
Абдуленно!
I keep my snare so much closer to my legs, yours looks so high. I suppose I am doing it wrong though lol. Also MMMMMMMMMM
It's pretty much necessary to keep your snare higher for traditional grip so you can access rimshots and not have to drop your left shoulder down so low. When I play matched I put the snare a little bit lower.
That snare...mmmmm!!!.....
Rad
‘Just’ playing are you joking?
