    Hey Austin...love the pocket on this one......very cool!! I have a suggestion - I have a recording by one of the bass greats - Alain Caron and Le Band (1993). Track 7 is a classic called "Freedom Jazz dance". About 2:09 minutes in (and again later at 2:52) Magella Cormier fills with a flam based break that rocks the house....(one of my all-time favorites) I have tried to figure this out a few times but never felt like I had it. Wanna take a run at it??

    For your Q&A somteimes. Why and how did you change position of your cymbals and toms? Is there some new ergonomy aproach? Love your vids by the way. Thanks for your work.

    • @abbdrums
      @abbdrums  5 лет назад

      NiKenDaCk I’ve gone back and forth b/t different setups over the years. I actually did the high angled fusion setup way back in the day as you can see here ruclips.net/video/8FNmDDHxoAE/видео.html
      Then I switched to more of a pop/fusion style w/ match grip and everything lower and flatter for a while.
      Then over the past couple years I’ve come back to traditional grip and the high angled fusion thing again haha.
      For some reason the higher setup with everything angled in more aggressively feels more ergonomic and easy to play. It’s like you’re surrounded by the kit and play into it instead of down onto it... kinda tough to explain but hopefully that helps a little bit!

    That snare. How do you tune, using any devices (tune bot for me) or just to ear? Great tone with a dark smack. Love the playing, of course...

    • @abbdrums
      @abbdrums  5 лет назад +2

      Pretty dang high... both heads are cranked up. I don't use any tuning tools for the snare, just bring it up and up until it starts cracking and cutting how I like.

      It's pretty much necessary to keep your snare higher for traditional grip so you can access rimshots and not have to drop your left shoulder down so low. When I play matched I put the snare a little bit lower.
