I Got A New Favorite Racing Game!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 апр 2021
- Auto Modellista is a racing game from 2002. It was an underrated game for PS2 and GameCube gaming consoles back in the day. Today I'm racing and drifting in Auto Modellista for the first time in my life! The graphics are kind of similar to the FR Legend mobile game. In addition the game has awesome effects just like Initial D. I was driving a Supra, Evo, RX-7 and a AE86. Drifting is pretty difficult there, easy to oversteer. Using PS2 emulator to run this game in PC (PCSX2).

Question of the day: *What is the oldest racing game you've played?*
Hi
Need for speed most wanted
Gt4
Yra
NFS carbon
the style is cel shading. its a common graphic style used for easy yet bold shading. almost every comic book uses cel shading
I wish more games used cel shading. It makes graphics timeless. This game and XIII look look good despite being old enough to drive, meanwhile most early X360 games with greyish brown filters look like garbage.
Ultimate spiderman style graphics
Correct. It's not a rip from this game. Else, every game is a rip.
@@matman000000 Team Reptile has been bringing it back with their games. Lethal league looks cool as hell and their upcoming game Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is heavily inspired by Jet Set Radio
@@matman000000 Filters are another trend. Tomb Raider 2013 was one example for really brown and dark colors to look real. In that it was okay but in most games it look shit. Cel shading is not perfekt if you dont do comic style or stylizasion right. Look at the Remake of the PS2 classic "13 XIII"
The graphics of this are surprisingly dope
Cel shading is satisfying
I forgot how amazing old racing are like nfsu2 but my computer got a virus so i can't play NFSU2 :/
@@Fazbear_Theaters oof
But the driving mechanism wasnt that good apparently :v
Cel shaded visuals tend to upscale nicely, this doesn't appear to be an exception.
Surprised nobody has tried to make another racing game like this. The bold lines make it look super unique.
ea make it, the name is nfs unbound
Fr legends?
Hotshot Racing has a similar style :)
@Calmly Vetgans not quite as dedicated to it's artstyle compared to this one
Initial D if anything, fuck those dumbasses who said nfs, re tar teddd
Fun fact about this game, it was created when Capcom decided to experiment with online multiplayer on PS2. To do this they decided to start develoment on 3 different games that would be different ways of experimenting with online multiplayer content and technology.
Thus were born Auto Modelista, Resident Evil Outbreak and the very first Monster Hunter !
This was developed on gamecube first.. Then they ported it to ps2 years later...
@@jz1612 From Wikipedia:
Auto Modellista (アウトモデリスタ)[1] is a racing game developed and published by Capcom, first released on PlayStation 2, later ported to GameCube and Xbox.
@@jonahmann That's not correct trust me I peroder the game when it first came out it was a gamecube exclusive along with re4 before they where both ported over to the ps2 with more content.
@@jonahmann This is why the gamecube version is the most expensive costing hundreds of dollars where the ps2 version you can get under 30 bucks as the gamecube version plays and looks better then the port.
@@jz1612 Yep, Wikipedia is not reliable. They source "facts" from "reliable" sources, even if those sources get the facts 100% wrong.
7:58 Reaslitic Car sound 😂
Better than FH4 car sounds lol!
Cel shaded graphics hold up so much better than anything that was attempting to be “realistic” in this era. This, Jet Set Radio, Viewtiful Joe. Such a good use of the hardware.
Couldn't agree more
XIII
Apart from GT
This game honestly looks so fresh, props to the designers in 2002!
The art style of the game really makes it feel a lot more timeless than other games of this era. A hidden gem :)
OH YESSSSSS LOVE THISSSSSSS
Yo, glad you doing more AC content btw, really dope videos, especially drifting with traffic mod
It’s giving me borderland vibes
@@Goosiest try torismo 6 next or come back to frl
@@sxveng3847 i also wanna tell him
OMG SLAP OMGGGG WHEN I WAS LITTLE I WATCHED UR VID EVERY DAY IM 9 NOW me birthday in 9 days
Auto modelista is amazing. Showed this to my buddy who used to live in Japan and it didn't phase him. He knew exactly what it was and I was so surprised that someone actually knew what this game was.
I mean if your American let’s be honest…
Nothing really is new
Brings back so many childhood memories
The superior version of the game is the Japanese one lol
@@TheHardcoreGamer1Japanese and European.
The US American one was the butchered one…
Now this is what I call timeless graphics
This game is a hidden gem for sure. It doesn't have a lot of tracks, but it does have a ton of awesome JDM cars.
Fun fact: for some reason, the Japanese release has different grip characteristics to the U.S Export, in that the U.S Export is more slidey, and the Japanese release is more grippy.
But why did they did this?
@@jippyputra That's sadly beyond my scope of knowledge
@@jippyputra critics complained it was too easy so instead of actually increasing the difficulty they added some american cars and made you feel like you were driving with butter for tires
@@jippyputra ps2 era america was all about drifting while japan was more about grip
This happened with the original Gran Turismo as well. Arcade mode was added SPECIFICALLY for the American demographic as they thought they’d be too dumb (something along those lines) to be wanting to play Simulation mode.
They couldn’t be more wrong.
This is WAYYYYY ahead of its time. Incredible stuff!
I loved this game...back when I had my PS2 I applied to be in the PS Beta program and got a pre-release version of this game that was online only. Loved the animation style of this game.
This is the oldest racing game I've played, only now I'm finally seeing it be played by youtubers..
It's one of my childhood game
How did u get The game?
Try out GT2 with ps1 emulator
@@cosmincuti75 just download roms
@@AGENTBVOCALOId How? I dont know what IT means.
This game doesn’t look old but it is. Remind me of fr legends for some reason
@khalid Mehmood no
edit: thanks for 7 likes
@khalid Mehmood id say frl aint close to being done
But with more cars
@@mineko2219 yes buddy
@@thebuddy4517 You should try Project Cars 3 tho
I remember playing this when it first came out. It was super fun and I loved creating my garage with banners, tool boxes and such. I’d love a new version of this game for sure!!
Was a great game, used to play this a lot when it was relevant. Interesting to see it so many years later, and surprised how well it aged
If you enjoy this game so much I recommend the PS2 game called "Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift 2." It is very similar in many ways to this game and has a few more car options and a better menu layout in my opinion. It also has a fun career mode, too!
Tokyo xtreme racer drift 2 is meh. I would know I have it. This games garage is killing it. And menu music. Tokyo xtreme racers career was better in my opinion.
All of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Wangan Midnight games were killer. Loved every one of them.
Best of the Best.. i love that game.
This I literally if Initial D and wangan midnight made agame
IKR?
In fact they did👍 on PS2
And on arcade
You can emulate the Initial D arcade stage games (I did 6) and hook up a ps3 controller or something. fun time
anime gay lol
I loved this game back then!! Also at the time I had TWO Nissan 240 sx's.. Sold them both for less than $2000.. Smh..geez I miss the game and those cars.. Good times
Now, I'm know I'm getting old. Auto Modellista is getting love? Omg, this is the last game I thought I'd see on RUclips. This was such a great game to play as a kid. It's funny, I'd mention some of the cars this game had to my friends and they'd think I was silly because most of them had never heard of nor seen the Japanese counterparts to the cars they knew at the time, yet these were the ones I was acquainted with. God, the memories. This game was a blast back in the day, good review!
Def a game that deserves love
9:58 make this a album PLEASE
hmmm...
Start a career in the rap game bro
Ay that actually sound lit! He should really make an album/song!

@@jovan9527 me too, its been like 2 years or more
Same here
This game was amazing when it came out I loved it, the epoch of the firsts Fast and Furious. You unlocked me a memorie! Thanks! 🏁❤
One thing I loved about this game is that it had a "car meet" type of thing which was after you put on your custom decals and stuff you went online (which took forever but still worked) and drove around a little area with other ppl and could check out their designs.. super cool feature. Usually other cars would flock around the car with the best design in the "lobby".
7:59 the rev limiter sounds good😂
Played this so much back in the day, loved it, the amount of stuff you could do to the car, and even Classic stuff to jazz up your garage, just brilliant, but as you're finding out, to get good at it took real skill 👍😉
Do you know the name??
I played this game religiously back in the day. I loved it! I’m still hoping that there is a remake or a port to newer consoles. Thanks goose for the walk down memory lane.
Cel shading is so timeless i love it, never get old
a classic for sure. the art style got me into this when it was released! Sick man!
My dad had these games when he was in the Navy stationed in Japan, Japanese PS2 version and GameCube version! I love playing these games
Omfg this video just unlocked a memory hole I had completely buried beneath GT experiences from the time ... good stuff!
Your sounds are awesome! "Wicky-wicky"😁
Good game. It's really timeless )
WOW! One of my good friends owned this game when I was young, I never could remember the name of it. So nostalgic good find! ❤🥲
8:07 our goose became a frog!
I remember this game. I have been trying to think of the name of it for a while and couldn't remember it. I was starting to think I was dreaming that this game existed! haha thank you!
I loved this game back in the day. Especially engine swapping within the brand. My ae86 with a 2jz and super close 6 speed was insane going up hill.
10:03 when goose is loose he's crazy like a moose. You don't wanna mess with the gangsta goose 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice one bro
The graphics are pretty dope! It can be relaunched in 2021 and be a hit!
fix the game mechanics first and foremost
Its cel shaded
Great video. Dude u took me back 20 years with this one I owned this back in the day on ps 2 ashamed I sold it to gamestop for dimes. But one of the greats racing games of that time
This game was amazing. I played the hell out of it and what was amazing is that the suspension was actually tunable to the point that if you did it right, you can shave seconds off your lap. It was truly ahead of it's time and to this day I still cannot believe more iterations of this game never came out.
A sequel of this game today would be SICK!!
I remember playing the beta and it controlled so well, but when the game came out, they had changed the handling and I didn't like it as much once it released
IKR, I was part of that closed beta as well. I couldnt believe they messed it up that bad. I did get a free copy for my troubles though.
When you get the down shift brake tap correct the game is golden, I just ran through the campaign mode a couple nights ago, my favorite ps2 racing game next to the realistic gran turismo.
Man, I used to love this game back in the day. Was one of my favourites
9:57 Our Goose is really multi-talented 😎
Auto Modelista! I loved that game! It was so cool having different ways to modify your car. It was like Underground but without the unnecessary "bling"... And without boost XD
Dude ive been meaning to play this for years! looks sick
I loved how you could design the garage!
I was addicted too this game back in the day. So underrated.
8:06
I demand 1 hour version of this
I used to be obsessed with this game back in the day, thanks for reminding me it exists.
OFC i arrive on that video, while taking a break at work and listening to "Gas gas gas" xD ! so fitting damn it
Who here started watching his top ten drifts and now watches every video of his🔥
Edit: wow thx for the likes that’s lit
Yep same here
Bro same😏
but you werent watching before top ten
Yup
@@zaiikgo3377 no cause I didn’t know about him before
this video is nostalgic, i love it
Played this growing up. Many great memories in my garage with a civic 3 door hatch. Not sure if you covered SRS (Street Racing Syndicate) yet. Another unsung hero from racing games of the early millenium.
Yes, timeless graphics. This game was quite good back then, even the box/case art was dope. Capcom was ahead of their time with this one.
3:00 the graphic style is called Cel Shading, and takes inspiration from comic books and manga and used a lot in video games. Has existed long before borderlands or auto modellista!
I remember having a Sega CD game back in the day called Road Avengers that had very similar styled graphics. Game kinda sucked but it looked so amazing
This game would be very good with mods like updated handling and different maps
I remember drooling over this game in magazines back in the day. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of it for nearly 20 years
That was my first PS2 game, and always one of my favorites. There are still cars in my garage, that I last saved in 2010-2011
That Art style is really cool.
That Art Style is amazing!
I believe "Jet Set Radio" on the Dreamcast was the first to have that tasty cell shaded look. Thanks for the share!
When this game came out i use to play it online on ps2. We had a little scene, mostly made up of my friends and random online opponents. We would only play 1v1 rokko downhill. It was like the closest thing we could get to initial d online. Im glad to see people are still enjoying this game.
So glad to watch Goosiest playing this game
I used to play the absolute life out of this game lol Gotta get back into it and start modding this one.
Dude got me with the Celica thumbnail 🔥 looks like a fun game
My uncle got me a bunch of games one time (I think 5 at a time) and I ignored this since I wasn’t a racing fan back then.
But when I was in high school and tried to go back to my ps2, I decided to play this. I sure wish I played it sooner because I had fun with this game. What I can say is presentation is really the high light for me! Like I had an arcade game at home!
oooooo wtf "you don't mess with the goose, the goose is gonna mess with you!, because when the goose is loose, he's crazy like a moose" wow what a perfect lyrics
1:29 Golden rims are golden! Good job Goosiest! 👌😂
XD
RIMS, the most important part, hmmm...... golden rims! I wanna see how this looks.
NOICE ONE!
My fav part is when he doing the reverse from replay scene and he said " We can go back as well.. " *beatbox sound " wre e e.." " ya know " and then " I dunno what i'm doing.. " 🤣🤣
This was a FUN GAME! Played the shit out of this when i was younger haha I had a major hard on for the SUPRAAA in the game and setting up my "dream" garage was cool as fuck. What a nice blast from the past. Nice find. And good choice on DAT SUPRAAAAAAA.
When the goose is loose hes crazy like a moose..European lil wayne
9:57 Goosiest Official rap boys!
Oooooooooo I remember this one! Played it a ton back in the day. Good Times! 😊
Wow. At first, I thought this was a 2022 game not 2002. This game looks timeless to me!!
I didn't even know Capcom made a game like this for PS2...! Great video!
My god I loved this game, I remember spending too much time rearranging my garage hahaha
This game is amazing. My fave is the Hakosuka GTR 😎 Engine swaps, mountain racing, highway racing, cel shading. This game is Capcom at it's finest.
ahhh, that's one way to make me feel old. I played this game brand new, and now people are like "look at this classic I discovered" xD
The style is called cel-shading. It was first used in Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast , then many other games followed that style.
I remember playing this game when i was a kid in the ps2
Laugh so hard on that one ‘ewweek ewweek’
Loved this game. Was one of my favorites! I had Megaman themed color palettes for all my cars. lol
I absolutely loved this game when it cane out on ps2. Classic game
Top Gear on SNES is the first racing game I’ve ever played, and I still vividly remember that awesome soundtrack.
Man this is nostalgia
Absolutely love the cell shading
Holy shyt I completely forgot about this game until this very moment! Thank you, sincerely.
Woah this game looks great. Retro/nonrealistic graphics drifting simulators should be a thing
Very nice gameplay. I think this game needs a sequel or something, it just looks so unique and the game looks likes an anime. Imagine the game with improved graphics, more cars, more tracks straightly form us, japan, uk, and more. Also, if its open world, we can recreate initial d or wangan midnight. Anyways, very nice gameplay. What are your emulation settings to run this game though?
It uses cel shading for the graphics btw
9:59 Thats a bar! You Became a rapper sheeeesh
i love the art style so much
I still own this game. Been one of my favorites since day one.
This is 4k FR legends
i love how goosiest doesnt make fun of old games and just give a opinion about it
