Sabaton and Powerwolf got me into Metal, so they hold a special place in my heart. What's interesting is that it seems I'm not alone; They got a whole wave of people into Metal, but they still get shit on by Metal fans.
Sacrament of Sin is one of the best power metal albums of all time. Wake up the Wicked is definitely high up there but it wasn't quite their crowning achievement. I'd Rank Mine as 1: Sacrament of Sin 2: Wake Up the Wicked 3: Interludium 4: Call of the Wild 5: Bible of the Beast 6: Blood of Saints 7: Blessed and Possessed 8: Preachers of the Night: 9: Return in Bloodred 10: Lupus Dei
I discover them by accident when I was checking on Metal Blade's YT channel a decade ago(about 2012) and saw the music video of "We Drink Your Blood". I admit, I felt Powerwolf are quite a gimmicky band at first but I eventually became a fan of them. I always love that lupine Evangelistic vibe they deliver in their music with tracks like "Fire & Forgive", "Sanctified with Dynamite" and "Amen and Attack". And their unconventional tracks like "Demons Are A Girl's Best Friends" and "Dancing With The Dead" quite make this band diverse themselves a bit. Glad they are getting their recognition even more with each release, and their latest offering is no different.
I am very surprised to see you do a ranking on this band, I won't lie.. I got into this band a little bit when I got back into heavy metal in 2018, but I've fallen out of touch as of late. There are at least 2 covers for 'Demons Are a Girl's Best Friend' that are really well done. One with Alissa White-Gluz and one by Russian power metal band Imperial Age -- easy one for the guys to watch.. 'Jane' is a real looker..
Love sacrament of sin. I remember jammij gthat album 2 mobths straight in my old car. Still my absolute favorite. Wake up the wicked was a fantasic listen, but i feel i hyped it up more than i expected.
Yeah, Thunderpriest was absolutely the highlight, I can't remember the last time I had a grin this big while listening to a song xD As for the whole record, I'd say it's their best from what I've listened to so far ie. from Sacrament of Sin onwards. Looks like I do need to come back to the older stuff at some point though.
Didn’t think Powerwolf would be your thing but fair play. Powerwolf and Sabaton actually got me into metal and every time they release something new I always re-listen to their discography and get waves of nostalgia.
Perfection: Return in Bloodred, Wake Up The Wicked, Blessed & Possessed Fantastic: Preachers of the Night, Blood of the Saints, Bible of the Beast Great: Lupus Dei, Sacrament of Sin Okay: Interludium (not bad, idk I just never go back to it)
Blessed and Possessed was the album that made me a fan. I hate to admit it but you hit the nail on the head on that one for sure. Powerwolf just figured out who they were on their third album and never looked back from there.
The fact that this has only got 900 views is a goddamn shame, people need to open their eyes to stuff they don't personally know or "love". I watch the Death Metal episodes even if I actively dislike the genre aside from a rare few bands
My favorite song is glaubenskraft, a perfection and the most unique song of powerwolf it's a big hit ob my face well my.favorites albums are call of the wild , blessés and possessed and interludium but i think if i need to choose only one album i gonna say interludium
I have always loved them and will continue to. Heretic Hunters is the best song on this album for me. Their songs get better with each album, but I'm sad that the spirit of a young adventurous group is being lost. But all albums and songs are equally favorite for me, recently I listened to the Saturday Satan demo and I was delighted) The first time I listened to the new album after buying the CD, I was suffocated by epic, but after repeated listening I liked it)
1589 being the first single released from the album alone gave me a lot of hope that this album wasn't going to a mild copy paste of songs like it had begun to feel a bit like
Would put the album Blood of the Saints up in perfection since I feel the album has an overall great flow and in its place would put Preacher of the Night, since it felt a bit underwhelming to me. Not bad, but lyrically and on the guitar side, it just felt like a little step backwards
I used to feel that way, but Preacher of The Night was a big grower for me. Probably helped that I listened to it in the car, but on this recent listen it’s one of my favorites from the band. My favorite atm is Bible of The Beast.
In my opinion Interludium is a turd burger my boy. One of the "new" songs on that thing is a complete ripoff of 'Higher than Heaven'. Just a mishmash of standalone singles, bonus tracks, alt versions and shit from the cutting room floor. Parts of the WUTW impressed me though after what I perceive to be heavy losing streak since 2018

Hey Metal Trenches who’s your favorite modern musician who’s keeping rock and roll alive?
Sabaton and Powerwolf got me into Metal, so they hold a special place in my heart.

dude my story is EXACTLY the same, they were my first 2 bands
Same here 😂@@cile5459
I looooove Power Metal. Going to see Powerwolf and Unleash the Archers later this year!

Wow, great analysis. This is the first time I had all the albums EXACTLY as you had. Nice!

HERETIC HUNTERS IS JUST THE BEST THING I EVER HEARD
Sick! Always up for more power metal content!
Venom of Venus remains my favorite Powerwolf song of all timem

I'm of the exact opposite opinion on Thunderpriest. It's not bad by any means, but I found it the weakest track on the album.
@@joshuafischer684 Very interesting, for me Thunderpriest is the best song on the new album, followed by Bless em with the blade \m/

I'm so glad you did this ranking! I love Powerwolf, "Blessed & Possessed" is my favorite album! 😈🤘💯🎸☠️🔥🖤
Perfection: Return in Bloodred, Wake Up The Wicked, Blessed & Possessed
Fantastic: Preachers of the Night, Blood of the Saints, Bible of the Beast
Great: Lupus Dei, Sacrament of Sin
Okay: Interludium (not bad, idk I just never go back to it)
On Interludium, I love the loping cadence of Wolfborn. It's a perfect running song.
Powerwolf never fail to release amazing albums

So stoked. I love power metal so much. Going to see Powerwolf and Unleash the Archers later this year!
Power metal rules! 🤘🤘

I'm not a fan of their first 3 albums.
Powerwolf gets a pass regarding Power Metal

I pretty much can't listen to most power metal from the mid nineties on. I prefer the old school sound. Don't like this band but interesting video.
That sucks. I find that sound a lot more enjoyable than some of the proto and US albums I checked. Definitely not for everyone so I get it.
