Another great video, Marty 👍. To the commenters who are worried about the tracks squeaking. This tractor is from before sealed and lubricated track chains were invented, so the pins and bushes run ‘dry’. When you can’t hear them squeaking, thats a cause for concern because that means mud, clay or rock dust has gotten in and is creating excessive wear.
Lovley, those old machines really are built so well and so straightforward to maintain. I bet you get years of work and satisfaction from owning it, for the price of a weeks hire of a new one.

Beautiful scenery on the way to pick up the dozer... you live in a beautiful country...and you got the dozer home.....looking forward to seeing what you do with it
Back in the early 90's I was living in Washington state. Several friends had picked up old dozers from the early 50's that the blades only went up and down. They were too heavy to haul around and with those one way blades you could buy them for around $800.00 to $1,000.00 They were real handy to have and most ran good. Several friends dozed off house pads with them and leveled driveways. This film which I enjoyed brought back some good memories, thanks!
I can tell that you really enjoy what you do. By sharing your adventures with us, joy is brought to many thousands more. Thank you very much for sharing. The only thing that could be better would be if I lived next door and you would ring us up and say, come on mate, let’s go pick up an abandoned...........
The best I've seen so far has to be the Hitachi Excavator in the forest. I am impressed. Good find and better yet, the work to get her running, walked out and the rebuild on the pins and getting it to 80% functioning. Good on ya... all the way from California's High Desert, USA! GOOD JOB!
Marty you are really good at what your do cause you could have a machine that's been sitting for decades and be like" alright today we are gonna get this 1926 ford model t running its been sitting for 40 years but i have faith"
Great job so nice to see someone do it the right way meaning check plugs a little lube in the cylinders drain the fuel before trying to crank the engine over.
Love this, my father bought and old 1960's mini backhoe like 15 years ago, hydraulic drive tracks and I think it's an 18 hp Onan engine. Still no idea what brand it is. It has a custom weighted blade and no hood lol. As small as it is it's still like 6000 pounds. Every friggin time he used it he blew a hydraulic line. After replacing them all he was able to dig up his well and septic tank for service. This is exactly the kind of shit my father would do until recently. (now he's too old to do this).
I am from Germany, -so I got the automatic Translation put on if the sound got too difficult to catch... Every time a motor starts or machine is running, it quotes : *"Applause"* or *"Music"* . Which is exactly mho 😂😂😂. Nice little Dozer. I’d call her Doozie😏🤓
After watching some of your videos, you have acquired some nice equipment for personal use. Although they would not stand up to hard big time use in a construction company, they are certainly good for the home owner, and will last a long time, with good maintenance. I really enjoy your videos, and greatly appreciate you taking the time to make them.
You can really find the old classic plant marty . Excellent job , personally I would be in my element finding and bringing the old decent machines back to life . I love a challenge to see them all back to working , clean , well maintained condition . Keep up the excellent work . Nz seems to have a lot of classics around everything from cars, lorries , plant , bikes . Judging from what ive seen on the tube . A restorers dream is nz .
The old 2.1/4 litre Austin engine was just about bulletproof. I had one in an old LD van that had done almost 300K miles and still ran sweet .Oil and filter change every 5k and regular plugs and points service was all it ever needed.
Robert Breeden thank you for the recommendation of Squatch253. I was wanting to find another RUclipsr like that to watch. Do you watch Andrew Camarata?
I like the way you paid attention to detail and just didnt go in there with a set of jump cables and see if it would work. You were very methodical and gave the old machine a nice freshen up before attempting to crank it. My dad would also put some oil the gas of an engine that had set for a while. He said it would help lubricate the upper cylinder and valve seats. It never hurts to properly lubricate things. Nice work! I enjoyed the video
The way that I like to tell if it is a positive or negative ground is: 1 check the size of the battery cable clamps, in the USA the positive is larger than the negative. 2 on a gasoline engine, look for the + and - symbols on the coil. On negative ground, the positive will be toward the switch. The negative will be towards the distributor. If someone installed the coil the wrong way, it is extremely hard to get it started cold, won’t start hot. Usually they say, it will start after I release the starter, if the engine is still rolling over. Good luck from north east Montana in USA. We had an IFYE or International Farm Youth Exchange student from Australia once. His daughter has been back to visit us 3 times I think.
The clamp size, larger on the positive is international. The problem that exists with old and much modified kit is some amateurs don't know and fit +ives to both cable , or even get them the wrong way around.
I love these videos. It’s really neat to see you resurrect these machines from the dead! And the birds singing at the beginning when you started working on the bulldozer are absolutely beautiful. I don’t hear those in Dallas Texas.
Marty, I gotta say you did give me hope on an old Skytrak 5030 lift that has not run in over five years. I had to flush all the fuel lines and injector lines and the fuel tank. I got her running but something was still sticking in the injector pump. I put a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil in 5 gallons of diesel fuel and ran that for about ten minutes and that cleared up whatever was stuck. Now it runs better than when I bought it 13 years ago. I also found that brake cleaner shot into the injectors clean them out real nice.
Great stuff Marty T! That old Austin sounded sweet even without a muffler. Thought you were going to go right through the shed there for a moment! Keep up the good work, really enjoy this type of content.
Your workmanship is phenomenal getting what other people would call junk back to work again, and all so calm with that wonderful Kiwi countryside surroundings
Thanks for another great rescue video, the dozers another nice addition for the price and a bit of time. I'm thinking it's a good job I don't live in NZ or AU my buddy finds cheap tractors and machines all the time there to. There seems to be more supply than demand for what you guys pay, unlike here in Canada where most stuff makes way more money or guys won't sell it. I'd have 50 acres of iron for fairly cheap your side L.O.L. Take care
Hello from Canada, wonderfully relaxing to watch and educational as well. I have a question regarding the battery- yeah, 2 years after the fact- and that is are the + & - battery posts a different size? Wouldn't that be a giveaway for your clamps? This presupposes the clamps are as they came from the factory and have never been replaced with "whatever works". Regardless your posts are worth watching and so you have another subscriber. Now back to the video. Came back to say bravo, that is a sweet little rig, looks ideal for local work and transportable, too. Congratulations on the newest addition to your equipment fleet, let's hope she provides years of service.
My Uncle used to own 'baby' dozer back in the 80's. I was designed to air dropped onto Pacific islands during WWII. All I remember of it is that it was built in 1944 . That thing was really cool

This is a good find, will be very useful for earth works. Build a 1 liter capacity fuel tank that you can connect to any dormant engine by connecting a fuel pipe at one end of a suitable tin container and screw cap(with breather) at the other end. Mount this on a 20 by 10 piece of wood and hang it beside the engine to gravity feed into the carburrettor bypassing the dirty tank and fuel lines.

Another interesting MartyT video. Being a British Austin engine with a generator, I'd have expected positive earth (although they can be flashed for neg earth). Often it's easy to determine which battery lead goes to which battery post by checking if the clamp comfortably fits over the post. The positive post has a larger diameter so a negative clamp won't easily go over the positive battery post.
Just loving what your doing to save long forgotten earthmoving equipment. Looking forward to the next installment. Greetings from Woomera, South Australia. 👍👍🇦🇺
As middle age man that dosent drive not mechanical in any form I find these old work horses been saved reused so satisfying.
