Was Wollen Wir Trinken? - What Shall We Drink? (English Lyrics)

First written by two French teenagers, Jean Bernard and Jean-Marie Prima, in the 1920s, the song was popularized by Dutch band 'Bots' in the 70s where its original revolutionary lyrics and distinct melody spread to the German Democratic Republic (DDR). The song was then popularized in the Eastern Bloc and among communist and revolutionary groups, and even the IRA due to its performance with altered lyrics by the popular German communist rock and folk group, Oktoberklub.

This version of the song is about a revolutionary struggle. "Dieser Kampf war lang" means "this fight was long". The lyrics tells about fighters, who are drinking for the victory of revolution after the struggle.
Luis Corvalan is also mentioned. He was a chilean senator and the general secretory of chilean comparty. In this song, he is standing at Red Square, but I didn't find any information about his reeal visit. This part could mean the campaign for his liberation, because he was imprisoned by the pinochetean regime. Like, "the spirit of Corvalan is with us". (Corvalan is staying at Red Square, drinking for our deal; we're drinking for Luis Corvalan)
Original version is a celt song about cidre, actually. Breton one, if I remember it right.
