That was so interesting. Yours is the only channel that has addressed this issue. I wonder if the other chateau owners that I follow have had similar experiences ( they never say).

Thank you Jane! It has been (and still is) such a large part of the journey moving from the UK to France after Brexit; that we couldn’t ignore it 😊

You talked a bit about a hand holder, would you mind sharing the company or person you used? Thanks!

      Hi Shane!
Thank you for watching/subscribing to our channel. The handholders we used are called SOS Anglo and they have a website if you google them. They were fantastic with us… very quick; efficient and really good value for money. Not sure what area of France you are in but they worked for us in Normandy and they are in Mayenne.
      Enjoy living the dream! 😃

      @@OurFrenchLives Hi Ladies,
Thanks so much for your reply it's very much appreciated and very helpful. We bought an old farmhouse in the Lot et Garrone three weeks before Covid hit so basically signed for it had a cup of coffee in it then flew back to the UK and didn't see it again for two years !!🙄 . We are now starting the mine field of the micro entrepreneur visa so your video and reply have been most helpful to us once again huge thank-you.
Really enjoying your channel and its fun and interesting to watch your journey .

Sarah, can you keep renewing your Visa? Do you eventually become a French citizen? We have a vacation home here and never stayed more than 6 weeks at a time. I would like to retire here. I'm from the states. 😊

H Mike. I had a 6 month visitor visa in year 1 and used my Schengen 90 days at the start and end to cover my first year. Year 2 I reapplied for a different visa in the UK so I could join Harriet in running the gite business- entrepreneur visa. Once it comes to renewing this visa; it is easier as you just do the process in France - Harriet got a 4 year visa so doesn’t need to renew every year now.
Mike you can currently stay in France for a maximum of 90 days in one 6 month period twice in a year; without needing a visa. If you want to retire here; you just need to prove funds and healthcare and as an American; you would need to apply for a visitors visa as the US doesn’t have an official visa for retirees. We found the process relatively straightforward from the uk as it is just a case of collecting all the required documents and you already have a french address!
Does what I have written make any sense to you? Happy to explain further 😃

@@OurFrenchLives Yes. You are very informative. I guess for now, it's 90 on, 90 off for me. I can't wait to get back. Two more days and back to Sallandrouze. I will try and bring the sunshine with me. Thank you both ladies.

I have no doubt that your videos will help anyone who is looking to move to France. The place I would love to be able to live in is Monaco. Unfortunately in order to become a resident there, one of the requirements is that you have to open a bank account there and put $ 500,000. dollars into it. Yikes !

We would love to visit Monaco one day but we do love it here in rural France!
