It feels really different with Matthew being gone and knowing that there will never be these six people together in one room anymore. The shot at the 13:56 shows perfectly how we Friends fans feel. :/ And probably even more so Matthew's colleagues. :/ "How come Chandler didn't come?"😭😭😭 However, I still find the end of this episode hilarious with "All by myself". One of my favourite scenes. :)

Honestly, I think this is a great tribute to Matthew Perry. I've always thought the Eddie storyline was one of his best performances. He's hilarious reacting to his bizarre new roommate.
I didn't expect to get emotional watching this reaction, but here we are and yes I am. I'm still so heartbroken about Matthew Perry's passing but I'm committed to watching this whole series with you. Chandler Bing will always be with us!
I don’t think I have been more invested emotionally into any story line of Friends than I have been into the Chandler/Joey roommate saga, their friendship is just so wholesome.

It was already sad with James Michael Tyler (Gunther) passing away from cancer and just a few days after the 2 year anniversary of losing him, losing Matthew Perry (Chandler) was gut-punching after it seemed he was achieving his sobriety and a new outlook on life to lose him. I'm sure the entire cast truly is saddened, but makes me wonder how Matt LeBlanc and Courtney Cox are dealing with his loss.

When "Friends" first aired (I was 24 years old when these originally were on TV), my crush was Ross, as I seemed to identify with him but now that I'm in my early 50s and enjoying viewing you watching all of these for the first time, I realized my true crush was "Chandler" & knowing that Matthew Perry passed away over the weekend only makes me both happy and sad at the same time! Fun fact: Matthew Perry and Yasmine Bleeth from Baywatch actually dated in 1996, the year this episode aired. Funny cuz he also dated Julia Roberts when she guest starred a few episodes prior.

If you rewatch the Ross bit on the phone to bait n switch Monica into that ultimate burn, it is so rewarding how he does it on the fly and masterful. My friends growing up would absolutely do this hence why you always say hello first for confirmation before speaking about anything. Gold, baby, gold!
Rewatching the series with you, I've noticed just how good all of them are roasting, trolling and burning each other in equal measure like a revolving door of pranks and practical jokes. It's really, really satisfying.
Episodes 15 & 16 of Friends aren't up on RUclips anymore it seems? I'm going back and catching with your Friends reacts and sad to miss them because I recall they were good ones 😔
I still quote Joey and Chandler from this episode because they're so darn funny:

The Joey and Chandler storyline about not being roommates anymore always kills me when I watch it. It truly is like they broke up and are trying to stay friends, and all you want as a viewer is to get these two crazy kids back together again. 😄☺ Seriously though, they're both such funny actors and characters, and it's great to see them get a story about their friendship. Matt and Matthew make it so good. ❤❤

Chandler was always my favorite. Liked mathew's movies too. It was terrible to hear how hard he had it with addictions and stuff and now he died too young. Very sad.
Soap opera acting contracts often would sign an actor for 1 to 3 years. However the producers could fire you at anytime! If an actor wanted to end their role to say be in a major movie, the show can force you to serve out your contract. Soaps also have a Head Writer who pretty much dictates stories that are told on the show. Joey pissed off the head Writer so he wrote him out of the show. Soaps however are shot months ahead ,Days would often shoot 6 months ahead, so in reality his character would still be airing for sometime after they fired him.
Right so it’s definitely possible but it would just look a lot different. Yeah that’s crazy hey.

About American soaps being able to suddenly kill off characters: yes, they can. Even if they sign on for a multi-year contract (during which the actor can't leave without the show agreeing) the show can fire them every few months. I think the standard at the time was every 13 weeks. So assuming Joey was close to the end of that 13 week period, yep, the show could fire him for any reason. Not sure if it's exactly the same now, but during the mid-1990s, this was pretty standard.

When Joey got the part, he said it was recurring for at least 4 episodes. So that's all his contract was for I assume, and he was popular enough they kept him on, but could still get rid of him whenever

I was doing okay watching your reaction until you got to the part when Chandler was watching Baywatch over the phone with Joey and said, "This is the beauty of the show, always keep them running! Run, Yasmine, run like the wind!" I burst out laughing at the marvelousness of Matthew's comic delivery, and then immediately found myself dissolving into tears at the realization of the loss of him. And it was even more solidified when Chandler joked to Joey, "Hey when did you start using 'mouse' in your hair?" and new roommate Eddie laughed and said, "Is this guy great or what?" and Joey said "Yeah, he is..." 😭
When I found out that he had passed: I was in the middle of performing in a choir concert Saturday night (I'm part of my college's alumni chorale), and had just gone backstage for intermission when one of the interns told me the news. I was stunned. (And it certainly made coming back on stage and singing a piece from Saving Private Ryan, entitled "Hymn to the Fallen," all that more poignant and heart-breaking.)
It's unfathomable to me. I can still remember watching the pilot episode of Friends when it aired, and immediately loving all the friends, but most especially Chandler because he made me laugh so hard. In fact, one of the first jokes from the show that has always stuck with me was one told by Matthew Perry as Chandler. It's when Rachel comes in saying, "You guys! Guess what? Guess what???" and Chandler says, "Um... the fifth dentist caved and now they all recommend Trident?" I remember that joke took my brain maybe a second or two to connect with, and then I realized what he was referring to (the Trident gum commercials that always say "Four out of five dentists recommend Trident"), and then I just laughed my ass off, because I thought it was so clever and he said it in such a dryly funny way. From that moment on, I remember thinking, "Oh this show is going to be fun."
Today I was thinking back, trying to remember what drew me to watch Friends in the first place, and then I realized it was Matthew Perry. Before Friends, he had a guest role on Beverly Hills 90210 in a part that was super memorable and dramatic, and then he had a regular role on a show called Sydney (where he played the younger brother of "Sydney," played by actress Valerie Bertinelli) and he was SO charming and funny on that show. I definitely had a little crush on him from those performances. So when Sydney got cancelled, I was like, "But I like that Matthew guy! I want to see him on something else!" And then I heard about this new show called Friends that was going to be starting soon, and he was going to be on it, and I was like, "Yay! I'll have to watch that!" And then I heard Courtney Cox was going to be on it (I'd known her from some other stuff at that point as well), and I had just seen David Schwimmer in a heart-breaking episode of NYPD Blue, so I was like, oh these two are really good too. This might be a show that sticks around! And of course, you know the rest... 10 seasons later, wow.
But Matthew was the reason I wanted to watch it at all in the first place, because of his charm and hilarious comic timing.
And as I noted in a comment on your Community post, what hurts the most is that it sounds like he was finally finding new footing and purpose again, after writing his book. So it feels unfair for him to be gone already now, at too young an age. I had hoped he would find some new joys in these upcoming years. Now my heart just breaks for him, and for his family and his dear friends. It's not right. 💔 He will definitely be missed.
That moment when Joey looks at the couch and Chandler isn't there anymore.. for the fans it hits hard since Matthew Perry passed away a few days ago, now Chandler kind of isn't there anymore 😢
The Eddy(roommate) thing is so fun, he is creepy as heck, he is a great actor, I once had a roommate even worse than him, he was talking to himself and got crazy ideas about me moving his stuff around when he wasn't home and in the end held me hostage in the apartment for a while, I was able to get out and call the cops.. I can tell u I don't live together with him anymore 😂
I love your reaction body language when Eddie's laughing in almost-hysteria, telling the story about his ex-girlfriend and how it's like she ripped out his heart and smeared it all over his life. You leaned wayyyyy back, your eyes really wide, like, "Okay, this guy's not healthy. He scares me." Which is exactly the reaction I had when I first saw this episode. Like, Eddie, dude, you need therapy, fast. Lol! Anyway, you cracked me up, and I'm loving your reactions. 😄😆

I just realized that i’ve always wondered why Monica couldn’t find her own condoms in her own bathroom. Then i realized that just earlier she told Richard (actually her mom though) over the phone that she left her diaphragm at his place, hence the sudden need for condoms! Am i on to something here or am i reading too much in to a funny little plot point? 😂

12:00 so I recently had my brother start watching friends, and we watched it all together. This scene was real hard for me to watch with him. It’s exactly how I felt. I didn’t start to not fear or hate my brother till 8th grade, because he was awful to me. He was 3 years older and we were never supervised. But I love him with my whole soul now, and we’re really close too. But my past with him still hurts.
