Hi everybody. I do apologize for the viewers if I didn't meet their expectations. I must admit that my filming wasn't up to par to many critics. However, their reactions and negative comments would make me a better youtuber someday. I am a novice and I will learn from my mistakes. My camera was only a couple of weeks old when I filmed this and I am still learning the basics of it (zooming in and out🙃). In addition, I was caught horribly surprised with what I saw. It happened in an instant. I was carried away and got so excited because I never expected that a heron would eat something as big as that. I also didn't have my tripod with me. Hence, I wasn't ready.
I always watch that heron on a nature reserve near my house and I always see that heron mingle with those birds. I've seen the heron ate fishes, amphibians, small mammals, reptiles, insects, crustaceans, molluscs, worms and small birds. But that was the first and the last time I saw the heron attacked and ate a bird as big as that. I guess the heron got very hungry and ran out of choice. I didn't realize that the heron has a snake-like throat and a dinosaur-like digestive system. Indeed, it was such a rare incident.
To those who complained about my intro, editing and directing please don't take it seriously. I intend to classify my movie as a low- budget-horror-comedy film🤣. As to the issue if it was a duck or a duckling, again, I do apologise if you believe that it was only a duckling🐥. It was not my intention to deceive. I respect your convictions. But one thing is for sure, it took about 15 minutes before the heron was able to swallow the bird completely. The duck was dipped several times in the water to make it softer and easier to swallow. This also made the duck look smaller because the feathers had contracted. (Imagine a cat that has been submerged in water). Having seen that incident in person, I can conclude that it wasn't a baby duck. As an amateur, this to me is one of the most if not the most memorable wildlife moments that I have ever experienced in my life.
At any rate, to all those who defended and appreciated my work I thank you all for your support and open mindedness. On the other hand, to those who gave some harsh comments, I'll take those as challenges to ameliorate my skills and be a better amateur filmmaker someday.
Honestly, I never expected that this video would create some sort of controversy and mixed reactions. In spite of that, I've learned that many viewers gave this video a thumb's 👎 not because of my filmmaking but because of the duck's agony and brutal death🙂.
Anyway, thank you all for watching and God Bless 🙏!
P.S. Have you ever seen a heron ate a bird bigger than the one on this video??? If so, was it captured/filmed in 4K Ultra High Definition???

Great capture. A chance encounter of brutal nature at work. Ignore any negativity. Even thumbs down boost your algorithm prospects. Any engagement with the vid counts.
I had a similar experience which I also captured and will post up soon. I only had 400mm lens so a little further away than your footage. The heron stalked and caught a Water Vole... down it went in one. Nature is so very brutal.
I keep thinking of getting the p1000... video quality seems fantastic even at the long end of the lens. Quite remarkable for such a small sensor.
      All the best.... Steve.

      Sorry Redzer_14,
Not my intention to insult you but the camera work is not the finest. I wasn't expecting David Attenborough-esq footage but more stable shots without the zooming in out would have allowed the audience to appreciate the detail in the footage more. I do think the music is unnecessary and actually takes away from the 'nature' theme you have going on here. You actually miss the main part of the video which is the Heron eating the Duck which was disappointing.
Bar that, I think it is really good footage. Thank you for sharing 👍🏽

That's a large duckling a heron in incapable of swallowing a large adult duck. Besides that large duckling was already badly injured before the heron took it. A heron wouldn't mess with a healthy duckling that size.
As you can see the heron could barely get the large duckling down its throat.

Sorry if I missed the initial catch. The heron was covered by tall grasses when he captured the duck which unfortunately I didn't see😔. I heard some very loud duck scream and splashes of water which happened for a couple of minutes. An indication that there was a struggle on the part of the duck. The next thing I saw was the duck was already on the heron's beak. The wing's feathers might have fallen off as a result of the struggle. But the wings itself were still present before it got eaten. However, both wings looked smaller because it got soaked in water. So my next mission is to see the initial catch🙂. Luckily I saw the main swallow😉.

The duck has wings but already without feathers. I believe the heron aimed at the duck's wings first so that the duck can't fly and escape. Moreover, it would be easier for the heron to swallow the duck without feathers on its wings. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to film it. The heron caught the duck in a pond covered with tall grasses. There was already a long struggle before the heron carried the duck out. That was the time I started filming.

MR. ZOOM - Some suggestions as you have been lucky enough for the RUclips algorithm to push this as it has 18K+ views already.
That intro. It's nauseating, the constant zooming in and out and then flipping it. No, just stop that...I get it, your channel name is MR. ZOOM but stop it.
Your footage - Get yourself a tripod as your footage is way too shaky.
Your footage par 2- Do not zoom in so much. Yes, i realize once again your channel name is MR. ZOOM but you zoom in too much, then you have to pan the camera as you've zoomed in so far that when ever the subject moves a little they go outside of frame.
Your editing- So it's not great but this video shouldn't be NINE minutes long. It should have been cut down to maybe 3 minutes and that ending of stills was pretty bad.
Music- I guess it was ok other than again, the ending part was pretty terrible.
This is MY opinion. I'm not trying to be an ahole to you. You got yourself in position to be able to witness this so that takes time and patience which I can respect but you might as well get the most of your opportunity. I suspect many others feel the same way because gaining 60 subs off that many views just doesn't cut it.

Herons are the most beautiful of all birds, but their eating habits also remind me more than any other birds that they are basically lizards with wings and feathers.

This has been floating around in my recommended section for a few days now, so I watched it. Almost as many thumbs down as thumbs up, only 100 subscribers, and yet, 58,000 views. The algorithm makes it hard to get noticed as a small channel, but pushes content that people clearly don't like. The algorithm is broken....

    • @liujol69

Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the actual catch because the heron went inside the tall thick grass so l let down my camera. After a couple of minutes I heard a loud scream from the duck and at the same time a loud splashing sound in the pond. So I immediately rushed to the scene and was so shocked to see the duck was already at the heron's beak. ---Thanks for watching and for your comment.🙏
