There's no question players across the board today arw more skilled and offensively talented. But comparing eras doesn't work. Hand checking, game pace and the promotion of the three makes this stuff happen. I don't know the stats but in the past week we've seen 4x 60 plus games which is crazy.
It's less about 'promotion of the three' than it is about the NBA finally figured out shooting high volume 3s produce more points per possession. So today's players train 3 point shooting much much more intensively because it is one of the most valuable skills on the court. It goes back to today's players simply being better at the right skill. I have zero doubt if Doncic faced the same raptors team that Kobe faced, he could replicate tonight's performance. There really wasn't high level defense played back then either.

The “way more talented” argument by young fans obviously only extends to offense. The youngins with limited historical reference NEVER argue that these talents extend to defense. Well, we know why 😆🤡
