SVP 60 FPS ( Left ) VS Original ( Right ) Anime

- Been working on this for years... but this is the best I can get right now. The idea is I'm trying to get SVP to ignore the animation because is lower FPS (around 8). For the camra pans or the backgrounds moving from the anime, they are in 24 fps, so I want SVP to work on that only and make it 60 FPS. There is still some artifacting but it is very minimum, most people should not even see it (unless your me...) but maybe I might be able to get ride of it, if not this is really good compared to what others have made.
Settings for Anime:
Frames Interpolation mode: 1M
SVP Shader: 13. Standard
Artifacts Masking: Disabled
Motion Vectors Precision: One Poxel
Motion Vectors Grid: 24px
Decrease Grid Step: Disabled
Seach Radius: Small and fast
Wide Seach: Disabled
Width of top Coarse Level: Small
Settings for Film or 24 FPS:
Frames Interpolation mode: 1M
SVP Shader: 13. Standard
Artifacts Masking: Average
Motion Vectors Precision: One Poxel
Motion Vectors Grid: 14px
Decrease Grid Step: By Two with local refinement
Seach Radius: Small and fast
Wide Seach: Average
Width of top Coarse Level: Average
Had to mute cuz dubs are an abomination, but barely noticed any difference tbh
That is half the point because with anime I want it to ignore the animation as much as possible to avoid artifacts but everything that is in 24 fps like the background or camera movement will be emulated.
It's most noticeable with the clothes.
japanese audio is terrible, I don't wanna READ subtitles... I wanna WATCH the content with ENGLISH audio.
Yes, it's a skill issues. goodbye!
@IHaveBadWifiBro in the words of the greatest president in American history, wrong
@@IHaveBadWiFiBro Definitely a skill issue if you can't read.
Jokes aside, english audio is complete dogshit and it is not just because I like subs. Compared to cartoons, dubbed anime is cheesy trash.
There is something about dubs that makes them suck even compared to cartoons in original english.
Making it 60 fps is just killing the original frames, judder happens because there is no revisition of panning shots or it was done in a wrong way sometimes and playing a 24 fps video at 60Hz also contributes to that, first you have to match your display refresh rate with the source, in VLC for mobile you have this option Idk about the PC version tho, for mpv Idk how to fix that with commands and I see a lot of reports about judder even tho they have 120/144Hz display refresh rate perfect for 24 fps (23.976/8) videos.
Nah, 60 fps was better. Especially clothing
@@crystal4ikNo.
@@crystal4ik 24Fps animations will ALWAYS be better than 60fps
@@crystal4ikunless the artist is trying to kill themselves by animation 60fps we gonna just keep on getting interpolated animation which looks smoother yes, but also looks way more jerky and smeary which can make the animaton harder to follow.
@@SMN-ct9gl it depends on the animation itself, look at Tom and Jerry 60fps, feels so good
The problem with this video is that some frames of the anime are already duplicates, or only the background frame changes while the character frame stays the same for 2 frames in a row, or vice versa, this means the ai cannot fully enhance parts like this because of the duplicate frames giving it nothing to make a new frame.
I had to slow down to .25x to notice any difference in framrate.
Why'd you chose a Ufotable moment?
Why don’t you hire an in between animator to make the missing frames and upload it guaranteed to be impressive
I started using the new RIFE AI engine over standard, it not only makes the higher framerate cleaner, but it also cleans up all a lot of the artifacting and "judder" as some of the people in the comments are mentioning.
@@broseidon2519 Tbh i've only tried 24 > 48 conversion but it has been way smoother than the default engine at 165hz. I'd test it even further but I only have a 2080 :(. Can't wait to get a newer GPU to really bump up the settings.
@@CommentatorCaleb i only have a laptop 1650 and interpolation is pretty good with my gpu with rife 4.6
@@diegoplayz6346 hell yeah
I slowed the video 0.50x. I noticed it, but it killed the original frames 🤔
i watched anime on a projector recently and it had really insane interpolation built in, i wasn't able to spot any artifacting or interpolated frames. your goal of smoothing out camera panning is exactly what i want too. i appreciate your efforts, please update when you make improvements
oi thanks as an editor I see even if one frame is off and it is very min with the artifacting but I also want to see if I can prevent it all together because it does feel so close, but if not I am happy with what I have gotten so far.
how do you download the 60 fps in svplayer?
Disculpa como fue que evitaste la marca de agua de SVP? Estoy intentando hacerlo también pero el vídeo final tiene una marca de agua
I've been trying to find the best settings in terms of this 60fps but couldn't. Like templates, within the renders etc. But love your 60fps
The best setting is actually to not interpolate animation frames at all because it looks like shit in 100% of all situations, scientists found. Crazy how animators who invented the idea of timing charts and intended limited framerates and smear frames somehow discovered this half a century ago, I know.
@@ShirakoriMio no because it looks ugly af. I have very fast response monitor, every panning scene, even very slow ones look like juddered mess, unwatchable. Even if I decrease refresh rate to 24h it looks so crystal clear, no motion blur at all, so juddery it hurts my eyes. Maybe if you have shit monitor the motion blur will mask the judder but on newer screens it is unbearable.
@@ShirakoriMio We get it, you watched that one video and now you think you are an expert on animation... bitch please
Great job. It looks so smooth. I've been just transcoding episodes on my ssd one by one, since i found out yesterday that was possible. Nice to see some different settings. Gonna try yours tonight.
The difference is that there's alot of motion blur in 60fps animations
often times more morphing as well
can u share your svp settings for smooth 60 fps plzz
Guess it would'nt hurt to show what I have currently. The discription has been updated.
@@paiway6059 Thanks 🥰

SVP doesn't seem to be nearly as good as "built in" interpolation on TV's. I've been looking for really smooth for a while but SVP is very artifact heavy if you get it really smooth like native interpolation. You'll either have smoothness or no artifacts. It doesn't seem to do both well.
i have noticed this too
In the first 5 seconds, especially the first thing that plays in the video the commercial cut card or whatever it's called, you can see the 24fps panning speed limitation, where it's too fast to be smooth at 24fps and too slow to be blurred and look smooth. I think the future of high frame rate in cinema is not to have everything at 48fps or whatever high frame rate, it's to have the whole show be played at high frame rate, like 60fps, and then the show only plays every other frame so it's 30fps, except for the parts of the frame that benefit from the high frame rate like the intro animation in this video.
Every frame rate has issues, 24fps is too choppy with a certain range of panning speed, and shows too little info with really fast motion, 48fps has a surreal soap opera look that feels odd when people are talking (which contrary to popular belief I don't think is because we associate those with soap operas we've seen, you can test that by showing new generations who never grew up or have ever even seen a soap opera or that high frame rate tv and ask them if they think it looks weird, they do) but action scenes with fast movement like the arrows in here look great in 60fps. It's a lot more work yeah but if you want the benefits without the drawbacks you need to take the time to implement the tools the right way.
Looked quite same
eyes. get them checked.
Lol😂😂
Demon slayer really put effort in animation
Watch the video in 720p 60 first to see a difference
Screen issue
It's because you're not an animator
I didn’t see a difference
This doesn't work because it's not 60 drawing per second (usually the illustrator/animator draw 24 frames per second). It's works for cgi sections, background still images or imaginary camera movement. In this video you can see still images such as the environment in the background are affected when there is a zoom or transition. The character animations are not affected.
camera and clothes
How to render can you tell?
in SVP control panel click the icon at the top left and go to utilities > addition program and features > add or remove component > and check mark on SVcode and once installed you will have a new tab called Transcoding
What program did you render in?
with SPV you need to download the code in the add-on when installing and you'll have the option in the tabs after.
@@paiway6059ah yes
GAMERS and their fucking trash ass websites
Anyone knows when youtube will make this standard feature?
Both are same
60FPS interpolation is the equivalent of watching dubs for anime
Can’t really see in the difference
The problem with this video however is that some frames of the anime are already duplicates, or only the background frame changes while the character frame stays the same for 2 frames in a row, or vice versa, this means the ai cannot fully enhance parts like this because of the duplicate frames.
The most noticeably smoother parts are the camera movements because that doesn’t have duplicate frames
60fps looks worse
so smooth
eng voice in anime sounds weird
I see no difference
idk wtf everyone else is saying; this is amazing and you can easily tell the difference in any scene.
There the same
My eyes were instantly drawn to the footage with more FPS.
やっぱり日本人と外国人では感性が違うんだな~
正直、60FPSは緩急がなくて見てて面白さに欠ける
I think it's not 60fps it's maybe 40fps 😂😂😂............
If I wanted to make something 60FPS, I would do it on my recorded gameplay. Making 60fps on anime is imo..... garbage.
The only thing that makes me wanna vomit is the dubbed...
god i love undermining the work of original animators getting ~2 dollars per single frame while ruining the timing and making it look worse overall, way to disrespect animators committing suicide because of the god awful work ethics of Japanese animation
Smooth animation does not mean its good
The animation could be fluent but it will look like everything weighs nothing
while choppy animation can show a heavy object a huge character and things look like they have weight
The left one is more clean
Yo this dub is insanely bad hhahahahha I can't stop laughing wtf how is it that bad this anime makes like infinite money
bro the dub is so bad 😭
