Thanks for sharing your 2 episodes of the best self-drive safari in Southern Africa. You are extremely fortunate to be able to visit Khwai whenever you like.
Thank you for sharing your trip. We had a fabulous trip to the Okavango delta - wild camping as part of our overall trip to Botswana. Had great mokoro canoe trips, a plane trip over the delta and lots of animal sightings. However we didn't see any lions nor wild dogs.
Hi Steyn, I love your video’s! We did our first trip to Namibia and Botswana last July. We also did the helicopter flight and absolutely loved it too. It was for our 25th anniversary🥰. Looking forward to watch the next episode! Belgian greetings, Veerle
Great video of an area I really love. We stayed at Maghoto and Mbudi this year, doing the Mokoro trip there also. (we actually had the campsite right next to the boat-station) I took away some great infos on some spots we left out the last years, but I was wondering about the the part between the cutline and Mababe village, as it isn't mentioned at all in your videos?
I have never stayed in that area, but I’ve seen some pretty cool things between Mababe and the cutline, like those wild dogs in this video. For me, however, it’s too close to civilisation.
I really enjoyed this video, such an amazing nature and wildlife there! I will go to Botswana for a campsite experience in November next year, so maybe it will be a good idea for checking out that drive Botswana link you mentioned at the beginning. Thanks for sharing!
Your video helped me develop the courage to do overlanding trips in Botswana. BTW, I visited Hoedspruit twice many years ago to visit Kruger NP, and it almost feels like you are in California. Love it.
@@michellea9857, I suppose there is always a risk, but it’s a calculated one. I’ve personally never heard of anyone being overturned on a mokoro in the Delta.
I use a Rode Video Mic Pro with a deadcat when I film with my Canon R6. I also record lots of animal/bird sounds and soundscapes at different locations and time of the day when I’m on laction, and then overlay them where necessary during editing. The reality is that it’s often too windy or noisy to get perfect sound in each sighting. I make notes of all the birds I hear during each drive and activity and then add those specifcally in post-processing to recreate an authentic background chorus.
Love to watch your beautiful videos, so good. Maps and graphics are awesome and very helpful. How long it takes to drive from Magotho to Xakanaxa. Can you do a round trip in a day plus a boat trip at Xakanaxa camp. We are planning May 1, 2023.
Keegan, Drive Botswana is a company that can help you put a Botswana adventure together. Their details are in the video description. Regarding Kruger: your best chance of seeing the Big 7 on ONE drive would have to be driving from Orpen to Satara on the H7, but finding rhino there is a challenge. For sable, drive the S36!
great video as always. One question for curiosity: when at around 17min20 you said you've received a message about a leopard, and then about lions, how was that communication? Did someone you`ve crossed paths with told you? Or do you have any radio connection with local guides?
We stopped to chat to other self-drivers and guides. Our little handheld radios was only strong enough to communicate over a very short distance, but as you may have seen in episode 1, they did help on occasions.
I’d happily live those 5 days on a loop for the rest of my life if I could ❤ Thanks for capturing it all so beautifully, my love!
Fab show miss Africa left in 1977 ❤

Definitely do that, My African Dream - having a company like that help you with your itinerary and bookings is soooo handy!

Solid videos mate.
Loved the video
I wish I could do this too. So beautiful
Wow 🤩 This is Fantastic 👏👏
Awesome buddy
Wow, another epic video!! 👊😁
Are those tiny boats safe? Surely crocs and hippos that are present there can easily overturn them?
@@michellea9857, I suppose there is always a risk, but it’s a calculated one. I’ve personally never heard of anyone being overturned on a mokoro in the Delta.
Great video. Thanks. Can you tell us the brand and model of the external mic you use? Also are you importing external bird sounds? Thanks.

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m planning to do the same with the bird sounds. Wind is such a problem.
@@tiaoat2013 good luck 🍀🍀🍀

Thanks Dilip. Magotho to Xakanaxa is a bit for a day trip if you ask me. Why don’t you rather do the mokoro trip from Mdudi Camp instead?
@The Safari Expert Yes, mokoro trip from Mbudi, thank you. Magotho to Xakanaxa drive is how long?
@@dilipkakkad2260 It’s actually only about 50km, but in that area, that’s quite far 😅 I suppose if you make a whole day of it, it’s doable 🙂
Understood, thank you
Wow nice bro
Hey Villiers, we're soon taking one of these helicopter rides. Can you recommend what gear to carry?
@@SumeetMoghe, take a smartphone for wide shots and something like a 70-200 or 100-400/500 for wildlife
@@TheSafariExpert that was quick. Thanks mate!
Hi safari expert how can I do a drive botswana and what is the best routes in Kruger for the big seven and sable
