I imagine Peter with a chainsaw in hand... All the while saying he's going to do a light pruning..😆
😂
I just love this. Your videos are so appreciated. I also enjoy the introductory music too. So very peaceful to listen to , watch and learn🙏🏻
Another wonderful video! I love what you've done with both maples. And putting before and after images at the end of the video was a great idea!
Another master class my friend. Thank you so much for your time and wisdom Peter 😊😊😊
I love this guy. I could watch his videos all day. I love his bonsai is for everyone mentality! This spring I’m going to go dig up some baby trees and try my hand at bonsai for fun! Thanks again for your encouragement.
Beautiful garden Peter, because of you and the garden I have started my own now. I plant as I buy them and like you I will air layer as they get older. One day I will also eat my breakfast among the maples.
Joy to behold the _prudential_ confidence of a master pruner with the *humility* of expertise, returning a treasured possesion "improved" to its owner, refreshed yet lovingly familiar, bravo!
I really liked this video. I think it will be very useful for all of us who are inexperienced amateurs, to learn what we can do with our trees. Sometimes other bolder treatments seem a bit outside of our comfort zone. Thanks Peter!
I am actually relieved and amused that even you can't tell what they are untill they bloom. Excellent video. Thank you. 🙏 🌳
I have a 40 year old maple tree in a container in my entry way. It seems to be ok? It has been in the same pot for the last 35 years or so. It is 40 inches from top to surface of the roots. I need some help with it. It seems to keep living and I keep snipping here and there to my hearts content. I do a leaf clip up and down the little bugger when I feel like my tree is hungry for fresh sugars and such. Out pops those sweet little leaves about half the size and a shinny reddish/rusty/greenish glittery dawnish dewdroping sweet yawing good morning.
Peter, thanks a lot for your videos. I made some maple forests following your guidance of previous videos. I also learnt how to prune their roots thanks to you. No I was thinking if you could show us how you make those beautiful fiber glass slabs. So that we can put our new forests in a proper place. I hope it is not too much of a request. Thanks a lot for everything!!
This was valuable to see the thinking process behind a pruning session
Beautiful the transformation is amazing. Learn so much from him
Lovely maples, can be improved indeed as Peter mentioned. Informative, entertaining and easy to digest as always.. Bravo Peter, can't wait for the next one.. cheers
This channel is like a therapy to me I've started watching peters videos to destress
I agree with Peter on the second Maple but useful critiques over all! Can't wait for my own trident maple raw stock coming soon. Wish we had more species of Acer in South Africa
Hi Peter, very good work. I lobe your videos and learn a lot, thanks to share.
Great video! Always learn something new.
I agree with Mr Chan on the second maple tree (@9:55) the side view has beautiful trunk movement, and removing all the back structure (could air layer that portion off) would give it more of a clean line.
esp. because the taper is much better and you dont see the reversed taper.
Love your videos so much !
Always a treat Master Chan, it's your fault now I am going crazy over maples. Nice timing on the maple, finally gave up on my prized maple and binned it, must have froze or too dry, my large one that was broken on one side needs a trim, nice to see the choices, trying to hold off and get some growth on the broken side but I am afraid that with all the heavy leaves it will hasten the inner growth and ramification if I don't get some light in there, it's in full bloom, have to do some research and see can I trim it now or wait till fall.
A master at work!!
thank you so much sir peter for sharing all of your knowledge on bonsai i learned a lot from your video hope i can meet someday keep it up sir!
Love this critique series, learn a lot from it !
Colin Lau I agree, the critique is a great format!
Very compliments! Good jobs!
Choice!! Beautiful Trees.
Beautiful perspectives.
I so appreciate your videos, they really calm we down, it's like instant meditation. I spend most of my time watching "conspiracy videos, researching what is up with us and this world and what is my purpose. Seeing you in action gives me such confidence, as I agree with your decisions most of the time, it's fun to hear what your are thinking... what are the options.
Both look very pretty!
That's the look I'm going for with my trees - it's just beautiful. American Elm, amur maple, various japanese maples, golden rain trees, apples, dogwoods, crepe myrtles, american redbuds, various pussywillows, black locust, garry oaks, water oaks, mountain ash, vine maple.... on and on :D
Thank you, Peter, for sharing so much so often.
My bonsai are made to look like trees in Nature - ie Natural.
Thank you for your tips.
Belos Aceres e belo video.
That second tree, the maple that looked oak like. There was a diagonal view on it that was marvelous, only noticed it for a moment @12:30 with the lowest thinnest branch to the left as viewed from the camera.
Very beautiful master 😍
beautiful tree
Love bonsai
Thanks peter another great video. I know this is probably a hard question but you should do a video on if you had to pick one tree (or maybe two ha), that you have worked on forever or felt most proud of can you show it to us.im sure theres plenty of them but something so symbolic that you have worked on for how many years. That would be special . Thanks
That would be my famous "Split Trunk Maple" which has been shown a few times already on my RUclips videos.
Thanks for the reply and yes i have seen that tree! Masterpiece !
Great video...im sad because i lost my first olive bonsai from fungus i have it for more than 6 years...im waiting for growth again but is very difficult i did a repot and i saw the most rooting system is destroyed...very SAD.
verry nice bonsai
some of the branches on the second tree seemed quite long without much ramification, if it was your tree would you have trimmed them back to get ramification or is it too late when the tree is that big? Loved the video :)
The before and after shots of the second maple says it all..... from a tad bit bushy to an old tree.
Thanks again for the videos Peter. I'm fascinated by the large rock to your right that crops up in a few of your videos. Is it going to be used in one of the landscapes?
I am going to plant it up soon for a video
Very nice
The maple bonsai is a beautiful tree
You could actually airlayer that multiple trunk notch area into a clump maple and still get a good shaped mountain maple stump !!! Two bonsais in one!!!
will there be an update on this tree? i would love to see it with all its leaves grown in.
Interesting crashing and banging going on in the background...lol....Informative video...thanks.
Can i ask what type of stone was that near the end of the video on the right side of the screen.
Thanks, I love watching your videos.. i got a "set" of 4 different "japanese maples" a while ago (they are not even pre-bonsai, just around 30 cm high rooted cuttings), and i cleaned up the roots and bound them together in a training pot with good soil, so i hope over the course of the next few years they form something nicely).. after watching all your videos, i should have made them into a landscape instead of binding them together, but that could possibly be a next project..
..just out of curiosity about the comment around 0:27 .. do you take right arms for payment?
Yes - I do!!
Personally, I'd just walk in, hand him my tree and say "do what you will". How could you question him? LOL
Right? Because what’s amazing is that one day, you will see it as he did. A day will come when you’re staring at it, all cut back and then voila, the vision he had, you too will share and understand when it grows in.
@@circularpizzabox2134 this is art, some people like different things, there is no supreme authority.
What are you using to seal the wounds on the trunk?
Do bonsais of temperate tree species need to be outdoors in the winter? Thanks!
I would like to know what material you use after cutting the branches. Thank you.
What cut paste do you use? I have use the Japanese..plastecine like cut paste..its gray and like a putty
Hello guys! What should I do with damaged bark of pine? Are there any ways to repair it?
I need spring to get here.
If Peter told me that there was a more interesting line to take, I absolutely would. I believe my biggest intrigue is the ever changing and abstract views of Bonsai. I would have cut as he suggested. This is just my $.02
How come you can use those concave cutters to cut the branches so close to their bases? I thought that could cause the main branch to die if you dont leave a bit of a nub?
Can you get a thick trunk by cultivating a Canadian maple in a bonsai planter ?
Namste!! peter sir🙏.
Namaste Sid.
What is in the tube he uses to cover the cuts?
I have heard the U.K. is starting to reopen.
I hope to see a video with your gates open very soon.
You might have a flood of people when that happens.
I hope so.
Looking forward to your first "Free again" video.
Not for a while yet - From 1st June you can visit by appointment only and keep your distance but not open to all and sundry
@@peterchan3100 I see.
At least it's in the works.
I know there is much contention in the government over there.
There is a bit of a battle going on here as well. (I understate)
I believe that the greater good will prevail.
For my part the greater good will include folk of all ages once again walking the grounds of Herons. It will do my heart so much good to see.
We never fully know how our actions in life affect others, but I will let you know you have done great good in this house from thousands of miles away. Blessings, Mr. Chan.
What was that he put on the tree? 4:02
👍👍
what cutting paste does he use?
The second tree, after seeing the first, really should have had cut those low branches. It really does make such a huge difference in how impressive the trunk is when you axe em.
The owner probably wanted to keep them otherwise I'm sure he would have removed them.
What sealant does he use
I wish Heron's shipped the U.S. !!
Me too! I'm finally able to travel and I can't travel.
grow your own😘
What will cause a tree to grow on one side and not the other. There is a small amount on one side and a lot on the other. Help I would like to shape it.
Respectfully, I preferred Peter’s plan for the second tree. More elegant trunk line with good taper, cleaner main branches, more feminine, tidier.
If I was the owner I would ask Peter to restyle the tree @9:51 unless the owner is think of air layering to a clump style @15:08
I always respect the owner's wishes.
Me too. To have an expert that close, why not take full advantage, right?
Peter quite right the customer is always right, however you did say "if this was my tree"? I would love to have either tree on my bench👍
😍❤👍
Love to See your Videos and learn. Greatings from Germany northsea 🙋
Video has to much Background noise
Aircraft noise - planes coming in to land at Gatwick- this video was made before the lockdown. Now in mid May - I haven't seen a plane for the past six weeks
@@peterchan3100 Hope lockdown is going soon😉🙋all the best to you.
One day I wish to visit your heaven
Please do.
What was that in that tube that he use on cuted places?
lac balsam
What is that you are putting on the cut ends
Lac balsam, a tree wound paste
Wacht up! He has the clippers .
true about the barber joke
"Let's discuss it with the owner."
The way all surgeons do.
Am I imagining regret in PC's voice as he says "It's an improvement"? I am a new newbie but believe I see the undone parts even before the white paper was put in.
Also, in one view the trunk looks like an animal with a tail. That's probably my fault.
a lot of experts say deciduous trees need repotted every other year???
Nice work, but are you sure about the size of the pot, (the length)
I think this one is too small, a larger pot can make the feeling this tree's living in a wild field, it's just 1 suggestion, not a critical way, I do appreciate your work
Lets just Do a critique... 1m:02 secs Peter stands there with the felco and doing his Peter stuff... ♥️
Peter, can you put a finished bonsai that was bought into the ground to get big? If you can what is the process of doing it so It doesn't hurt the tree? Thanks.
Only if you want to grow a thick trunk.
Thanks!!!!
what is it, that you've been putting on the wounds, mr chan?
Lac Balsam
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I respect the owner, so im going to full prune his tree without asking... Not too much, just 50 cuts or so ; }
Nothing irreversible, if the owner doesn't like, the tree would be back at his original shape in 1 growing season
i think the most spectacular trees can only be achieved if the owner or creator has no emotional attachment to it.
Yup, I'd give my right arm....
7 out of 10..."Is that good"? LOL
Peter love your videos, but Whoever you have on the back playing around is doing it louder than you are talking. I don’t mean to be a prune but tell them to SHUT UP! While the master works. Lol cheers
Soooo, he cut the first branch without permission?!
It's the first time I see bonsai video & even I saw that it had to go. Sometimes you do not need permission.
I alredy watched this i gusse🤔
Re edited
He says lite trimming! Before you know it, half of the tree is gone! He just can't control himself!
; )))
dont be too dominant
Who ? Me or the tree?
In many of his videos, he is pruning the tree and standing right in front of the camera. Thus, the viewer misses the visual instruction. I want to see everything.
The deafening willow centrally end because beginner incidentally blind next a curvy zinc. first, spectacular brass
Background noise is very annoying.
If you stay in front of the camera, nobody will see how you cut the tree. And thats all about ...
