  • This week on #IWeighPodcast, stand-up comedian ‪@taylortomlinsoncomedy‬ joins Jameela for a very raw conversation about her recent diagnosis of bipolar 2 and processing the stigma around it in order to write a stand-up special that included material on it. We especially love the powerful way to reframe ANY diagnosis one might get as just being more information you now have to take better care of yourself.
Taylor’s ability to share her mental health journey through such a witty lens is truly a gift to us all & the entire episode is a must listen! They also discuss Taylor's relationship with food and finding intuitive eating, wishing for more open-ness around plastic surgery, what a "clelfi" is and why it is so revolutionary, and more!

Bi polar 2 here, watching this. Dead on, nail on the head, 100% accurate. If you haven't experienced it, you don't know. If you watched "Shameless" the actor who played the bi-polar character Ian, totally nailed it too. We love you for your courage, Taylor

Ever think bi-polar is just a habit Americans develop from social pressure and economic flux/win or lose
I am winning, look at me.
      (crash/fail/exhaustio)
Ok. Time for rest or drugs. Yawn, I am not recovered yet.
      (recovery)
      Time to kick some ass.
Learn about the original Bulgarian weightlifting team training under Abadjaev. They would lift (stress their body) so much they would get depressed. Many were encouraged to take as much steroids as necessary to recover.

The whole “it’s just information” has been something that I’ve been trying to understand these last couple years. That a diagnosis doesn’t contain the whole of your personality or being. Part of the stigma is that people (and yourself as well) tend to believe and define you by it.

so true!! which is why it's also really helpful information & a great lens to think about for others as well as yourself & how you can best support them. ie - if a friend or family member broke their leg, you probably wouldn't suggest going on a hike that weekend!

You will be judged by your diagnose everywhere you go, the idea that its just information is good but the fact is different.
