Last year for the Electra Convertible. 1972 was the last year for the Skylark Convertible. 1975, the last year for LeSabre Convertible (as well as other GM full sized convertibles) and 1976 was the last year of the Cadillac El Dorado Convertible. Then along came the 1982 Riviera Convertible which really pissed off the 1976 Eldorado owners!
Stunning car. Watching this I'm seriously considering to sell my 67 Impala convertible and get one exactly like this. I find the price justified. Nothing beats original low mileage rust free cars. I'd pay the premium happily. Because if you buy cheap, you pay later down the road. Always. Don't ask me, how I know. Greetings from Switzerland.
Impalas are worth quite a bit. I ALSO know from experience if you go cheap you will end up paying MORE in the long run with restoration costs. I have a feeling my Buick will be selling in the next week or two. I have sold a 1966 Electra to Germany and a 1972 GS350 to Sweden. I found it interested it cost less to ship them over the Atlantic than it cost to truck them to the port!
@@MostlyBuicks I know 🙂, if I happen to sell it quicker than anticipated, I will get in touch with you to check, if you still have this Electra. If yes, I'll hop on a plane. Cheers from Switzerland.
@@MostlyBuicks I'm ready now to purchase the car and of course it's been sold already, How could it not . Is there maybe a slight chance the new owner might part with it if I would make him an offer? Yes, I'm serious. I just can't get over it, how nice and original this one is. It would fit so beautifully onto the streets here in Switzerland. 🥰
1966 was the last year for the nailhead which were by then the Wildcat 465 (425 cubic inches) and the Wildcat 445 (401 cubic inches). The first nailhead was the 322 in 1953 which grew to the 364 by 1957. An even smaller nailhead was available in 1954 and 1955, the 264 reserved for the Buick Special. In the early 60s the 401 also was offered as a "regular gas special" called the Wildcat 375. In 1966 the 4bbl 340 engine was also called the Wildcat 375. "Wildcat" engine monikers were gone by 1967. In 1967 the nailhead engines were replaced by the 400 and the 430. This 1970 Electra features the first year 455 which replaced the 400 and 430 engines. 1976 was the last year for the Buick 455, which is different than the Old 455 which is different than the Pontiac 455. Other Buick V8s include the 215, 300 1964-1967 in two bbl form (Wildcat 310) and 1964-1965 in 4 bbl form (Wildcat 355) and the forementioned 340, which were replaced by the Buick 350 in 1968.
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist The 1967-1969 400 and 430 are basically the same design as the 1970-1976 455. The small block Buick 350, based on the 300 and 340, had a similar design as its big block cousins the 400/430/455. In 1970 Buick changed its upper oiling system from the old through the heads and rocker shafts to through the lifters and pushrods. As a side note, even though the 215/300 and (less so) the 340 LOOK like nailheads, they are not. The way they mounted the valve covers on the heads emulated the look of the 401 and other nailheads.
@@MostlyBuicks ok I got a buddy out there maybe we can sit something up for him to come check it out for me. Are you open to trades? Maybe we can chat on the phone @ some point.

Don't forget about the centurion that was a nice drop top almost like a combination of an Electra and a LeSabre
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist Yes, it replaced the Wildcat, also being an upgraded LeSabre. Available from 1971-1973
Nothing less than absolutely stunning! Wow!
It's in fine condition indeed, sir. Congrats.
