Same here. For example, I used to do 70+ pushups at a time, when I was in the military. The form was trash, but good enough to pass a PT test. When using proper form and full ROM, that number dropped significantly.

I hope you realize it was just a demonstration. Sven can probably do 30 pull ups if not more. Keep in mind he is an elite athlete though. Most advanced trainees do around 20 pull ups and an intermediate trainee does about 15

And they are all like: WTF?!?!? You’re that weak?!?!? How you look like that?!?!? When I start to talk about ROM or 2-1-2 sets etc. They don’t want to hear that stuff…… Because people are sooo out of touch with that high numbers from these show offs…..
yeah same. After I finished basic traning I was able to to "80" pushups in a row. probably waaaay too far from being clean. Now im pretty happy when I can do 15-20 regular pushups but clean, usually its less, depending on how well im into training atm. every time someone accompanies me to my training and tell me they can to more pushups, I like to record them, show it to them, and let them compare the movement :D

Since then it's been about 50 to 60 clean reps. Bunch of guys are like... I thought you were fit man?! You can't even max push ups? I'm just like... Try doing them with proper form and see how many you can do. But they don't have to. We already PT together where I'm doing 30 clean reps without struggling and they're doing like 20 struggling.... Life choices I guess
Thankfully I started with your program as a beginner so I learned the proper form right away. And my modest 20 push ups and 8 pull ups are done properly.

But I've managed to work up to fifty (in two 25 sets) pushups with your vids when I could barely do twenty wall pushups before watching your stuff. You guys rock.

Another exception is when you can't do the full rom because of lack of strength. This is common for beginners. For example there are many ways to built up to a clean pushup. For example you can do inclined pushups or shorten the rom. As you develop more strength you can gradually decrease the inclination or increase rom.
@@callanc3925 Yep. As I was going down at a certain point my arms would just give up before I could reach the full rom. I was slowly building up rom but had to stop exercising for some time.

This is why there are progression exercises. Try to perfect each progression and you will build up the strength to do the normal version of the exercise you are doing.

Happened to some degree to me. I myself remember back when I was starting I was able to do 30 "pushups", 5 months later and now that I am using the correct technique, full reps, full range of motion I am once again able to do 30, however, this time done correctly.
ill go ahead and use this brother, appreciate yo for making things easy. I personally have no problem with working out or learning how to, but it's all those details schmetails that are so important, that I am unaware of, that's keeping me from doing it. SInce I dont want to permanently damage my tendons and joints or muscles for that matter
Another tip: Isometrics. Isometrics don't do much in terms of building muscle, but what they do is train your muscle to fire more in that position. So, if you're struggling to get your chin over the bar on pull-ups, it might be a smart move to incorporate some isometric sets at the very top into your workout
This is such a great video! I rather stick to band assisted kneeling pushups with my elbows tucked in and full ROM or kneeling negative push ups, in which I'm getting better and better in slowing down the movement to lower myself down to the floor, seeing small improvements on my path to do my first actual pushup for the first time, than doing elbow flared out "rythmic planking" and naming a fancy number, calling them "push ups".
Glad this video was made, iv rolled my eyes so much in life when people brag how much they lift, pull, push etc cause they never do them correct that am surprised my eyes haven't fallen out yet
I have your complete calisthenics program. I noticed in the beginning my push ups went down as the weeks went on. I think it was because I stopped cheating my reps by blasting through them and was slowly perfecting my time under tension 😁
I love the term "Ego Lifting". I need to remember this one. One of the biggest problems I have with my group is people trying to do harder exercises than they are able to because they see other people in the group doing them.
Bought Complete Calisthenics on BF last year, started training on January and now I’m jacked af. Ok, not really that jacked (93 kg), but I’m able to do a couple of pushups (15-25), pullups (5-8), dips (6-8) and I might be in the best shape of my 45yo life. It is never too late to start.💪
Every person I know in real life that claimed they could bench press a lot and I brought them to my house, it turned out that they could bench 100 + pounds LESS than what they claimed. I have never met anyone in real life that tells the truth of their capabilities.
Good video. The last part can be extended further though. Long length partials are a very real thing, but most people mistakenly correct them as bad form or technical failure.
If you go to a park and people see you working out, a lot of out of shape men get that ego boost trying to outnumber your reps with their mediocre movements. I will offer my advice to them if their receptive to it, but other than that, sometimes you gotta let them learn the hard way, if they ever learn. 💀💀💀
If anybody has to force their chin over the bar, they are not getting full range of motion because you should be pulling towards your clavicle your chest your sternum or even lower

I recommend these courses to people I know, I'm doing the calimove courses, just at the beginning of the intermediate complete calisthenics 30% and Mobility 1 and 2, I'm going to repeat mobility 2.0 when I'm finished (nearly am) as my body needs to improve more over time . I would recommend them. People have noticed the different in my appearance from this course. I have been gym a few times and gymnastics but they majority of my strength and muscle mass over the months since January is from this and trying to eat to fuel my muscles, but I'm not 15% body fat, will be I hope in a few years.

Looks like these guys are good. Their videos help me a lot. I try to use proper forms but I'm not always sure how does my form looks as I can't see myself in third person. Should try to record myself, maybe.

mine used to be 50, yea, but it went down to 5 when i first did clean ones, now i can do maximum 25 clean pushups

I can do a 1000 pushups. Sure the range of motion is 0%, but I can still do it.

This is especially true with push ups as well because the weight going through your hands gets greater the further down you go.

I can do 38 clean push ups and 14 tp 16 strict pull ups. At this point, I prefer to add weight so I don't have to do either of these forever.
