Definitely agree with you on ppl leaving their entitlements back where they are. I understand ppl want their country to be like that all around the world but ppl have to realize that it’s not and you’re going to someone else country policing what has been working for them for years. They aren’t going to change because of a tiny proportion of ppl say it should. Respect each country’s rules, cultures, etc or just keep it to yourself. Definitely still going to come visit SK since it’s been one of my dreams! Love this video
I definitely agree with the points you made. The biggest thing is, that Entitlement has got to go. The ones who go other places (not just korea) and they expect people to speak English. That irks me a lot. The color thing and body image is all too real. I learned this when my sister and I visited Korea. She is heavyset and dark skin where as I'm light skin and slim. The difference of treatment was real. I was treated better than her. But, regardless of where you go, its definitely a good idea to just do your research ahead of time to at least get an idea of what to expect for culture shocks. Expect the unexpected. Great points in the video.
Exactly! The expectation that other countries should speak English 😖 The point about you and your sister makes me so sad, but it’s so common. Yeah, I agree. It’s about being open to different possibilities.
I totally agree with this comment and with you too Ro. As a matter of fact, THANK YOU for that very first point you made. I was sooo tired of seeing all these ppl going to other nations and all of a sudden they're the smartest, wisest, more logical person in the world 🙄 excuse you? What gets me though is when ppl expect to get considerations in one country that they don't even have in their own. That being said, for my thick sisters out there, come to Africa 😉 jyast sayin' 😘💜
When I was a teenager, I moved from another country to the US so I had to learn early about intentionally cultivating my friendships. In my 20s I had the energy to put myself out there, took the first steps in all my friendship and kept being proactive. Because of culture difference and being a foreigner it's been hard to make friends where I was. But when I did something almost usually happen and that friendship doesn't continue: either they end up moving, overtime stop staying in touch despite my efforts, or I end up moving to another city. Right now in my 30s I'm more introverted, tired of pursuing ppl, of having my heart broken and of being disappointed. Also very busy w/ work taking up my time. I have few friends whom I hold dearly. I hope they stay. Growing up has made me more realistic and less inclined to open my heart like I was in my 20s. I don't know if that's a good thing. This video is comforting me, thank you.
Your experience of living on multiple continents makes this a lot more nuanced and balanced than most videos of this type where it be the only 'other' culture someone has experienced 👏
This was really insightful, definitely wish to see a part two. I’m actually moving to Australia in a few months which is out of my comfort zone since it’s across the other side of the U.K.🥲 but I’m so excited for the unknown and the experience/adventure. Still want to visit SK too, ready for part 2☺️
I'm moving to SK next month and even though I studied there (for a bit) and frequently travelled there before, i'm still nervous and i relate to majority of the points you made :)
Hey Ro, I think I both agree and disagree with you on being able to change a country. Yes - you should drop your expectations, esp for quick broad change, but I believe the new perspectives you bring by just being there and meeting people can be a catalyst for a shift in the long term. Not all people will change their minds but some people will, and those people can help change minds of their peers too! I’m Korean American and Im thankful to you and the other immigrants/visitors who are slowly influencing the Korean culture to think broader and differently!
Nope. Black women aren't the "teachers" for the world. Koreans need to work on changing their people. Black women are not "test subjects" for Korean social experiments.
You guys are so beautiful omg I bumped into your video about leaving Korea and I ended up seeing other videos. I actually lived and worked in China and visited Korea and I thought the vibe there was different but seems same same but different
I have a question idk if anyone has asked u this or if you’ve answered but do u get ur hair sent to u there or do U buy it there because ur hair is always slayed!!
2:00 if we’re gonna see every little place Korea uses robot to serve in restaurants and say how they’re living in the “future” let us call out on the BS too cuz this isn’t “entitlement” it’s basic human rights and even SKs struggle through it. I’m an Indian and me saying this means a lot. We need to highlight the good and bad. Exaggerate equally. Because this is not just land of kpop kdrama or ramen, it’s also land of spy cams, extreme patriarchy, racism, toxic hierarchy. It’s not just for no reason South Koreans don’t wanna have kids in their own country.

I'm moving to SK next month. This was a really nice video. I already expected most of what you said, but I think you portrayed your points nicely!

Not related to the topic but you look stunning,Ro! ❣️

People thinking about moving abroad really should watch this and take all these points into consideration... great vdo

There is an addage: " When in Rome do as Romans do". Age and Wisdom helps when traveling.
I love your content, part 2 please
Thank you ✨✨

Before moving to SK, what kind of research did you do?📝
All of it😂 Google, stats, RUclips videos, Facebook groups, spoke to people already here etc
its funny because for me; every time i move somewhere i lose weight (i think because its usually a city where walking is more prevalent)
Honest (maybe ignorant) question 😅 are the natural hair products available in SK? Or do you have to order from other places overseas?
Not ignorant at all ! There is access to natural hair products at one or two places but they tend to be pretty pricey 😖

Just got the notification🤗
Heyyyy
Oooooh stunning babe😌
🥺🥺
I toured South Korea and as a non-Korean speaker, it was extremely difficult and confusing.
More so than in China or Japan.
Ah that’s interesting. I haven’t found the language barrier to be a huge problem daily, but I understand how it can be confusing.
Lol the HR thing is so American also 😂
Try getting the tooke flour shipped to you.
Is notification gang still a thing?
Absolutely!✨✨
😢I'll take that dark skin 😂
