I love Little House On The Prarie. I watch it everyday. Life was so simple and down to earth. I really wish living was like this today , no phones , cell phones , no computers. Clean simple living.
And if we didn’t have technology we wouldn’t be able to watch it on demand. So for that I’m grateful. But I know what you mean about a simpler time. ❤️
No air conditioning, no modern medicine, no access to quick, accurate information, no clean food or water. None of us would last a day, nor should we want to.
My great Aunt's school bus broke down in front of her home in Missouri. It was hot that day and the kids got off the bus to wait for a replacement and Laura brought out lemonade and cookies for the kids! One of her favorite stories to tell!
For your information, Laura and Almonzo moved to Mansfield, MO in the late 1890s. They built a farmhouse there and that's where Rose was born. Laura died there in 1957. I assure you, indeed, there were school buses in the late 1940s and the 50s. That is not an unbelievable story. It is just the thing that an elderly Laura would do. Visit the museum in Mansfield and see Pa's fiddle and listen to the real Laura speak. It's wonderful. Then visit the cemetery in the middle of town where Laura, Almonzo, and Rose are buried.
This makes me think about how quickly everything that we have and know changes after we're gone. In a relatively short time there's hardly anything recognizable about the lives of a town of people who lived there just 150 years ago, and it's hard to determine just where anything was...if it weren't for a hand dug well. So thankful for Laura's writings.

True, but can you also imagine no modern medicine, or indoor plumbing, or washing machines, and having to go to the bathroom in a hole in the ground? No thanks... I'll take today, even with its complications and stupidity. :-)

**SUCH A RAD VID JORDAN THX!🙌👏 I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO SEE YOU FILMED THIS LOCATION. YOUR DEDICATION TO THE FULL HISTORY & READING OUT THE SIGNS. IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. YOU RAWK! CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S ONLY $3 TO GET IN!** I too grew up watching this show & reading the books. Had such fond memories flooding back to me. While viewing this. Holds a very special place in my heart. Remember balling when their dog Bandit died 😭 I was teased in Elementary school. Because looked like Laura Ingalls from the tv show. Had same color hair in braids. And for picture day. My Mom had sewn a dress, almost the exact pattern/color as hers. Even used 2 scrap strips tied to the bottom of my braids. A boy was mean & pulled on them. Everyone chanting mockingly: "Laura". I was a goody goody from Grade 1 - 5. Even getting an award for perfect attendance. Given to me at a school assembly. Ahhh seems so long ago. I love all the quotes on those signs. It still blows me away how the entire family all lived together in a 1 room cabin! And how they travelled by wagon. My Mom grew up on a farm. And went to a 1 room schoolhouse, just like in the tv show. Here I was spoiled by growing up in a big city. And a 2 floor big house. Pretty good for having a Single Mom supporting my bro & I. My Gramma looked after us too. She was my very best friend. **QUESTION: WHAT WAS THAT SOUND IN THE BACKGROUND? CRICKETS OR SPRINKLERS?**
The ultimate " family " show every show ended with an " inspirational " message. Half Pint Melissa Gilbert charmed America as did 🏈 legend Merlin Olsen.
I wanted to love the TV show but I just couldn't. I grew up with the books, as did so many others, and to me, the show was nothing like the books. I know it's TV and "entertainment" not history but still..... I loved Michael Landon in Bonanza but I read a quote from him that said he was nothing like Charles Ingalls. He said Charles Ingalls was always in debt...etc. etc...etc. Basically insulting. This bothers me because those books were written as a tribute to her father. I've also read quotes from people who knew her that, Laura herself would have hated the show. It's a good thing that the show brought so much notice to the books but, try as I might, I just don't like the show.
I live in MN and grew up 12 miles from Walnut Grove. My father set in motion the establishment of the roadside monument there that paved the way to the opening dugout site, museum, tourists etc. because he was the county engineer and discovered it while talking to the farmer while working with him on a road easement way back in the 50s. This is the only Ingalls-Wilder site I have not visited with my family ! Thank you, I especially like that you read all the nice quotes she wrote and that they posted.
Thanks for the trip!! Just as a reminder, Appomattox was where Robert E. Lee surrendered, and Osage is a tribe of Indian and pronounced Oh' sage. Loved seeing how well done this is!
Thank you so much for that tour and history of Laura Ingles and Little House On The Prairie. Did not know all the history behind the story, you did a wonderful job presenting that.
That first room in the schoolhouse is the coatroom. Those cans that looked kinda like paint cans were what the kids brought their lunches in. My mom went to a school like this in Missouri when she was young. She is the one that explained the coatroom.
Thanks Jordan! I bought every Laura Ingalls Wilder book with my own allowance as a kid in Toronto, Canada, and felt like I was seeing a shrine when you showed the well Pa dug!! It was an amazing video and well narrated. Thanks!
I read all of these books to my two children when they were very young. They are in their 30's now and they still remember me reading them. My Dad was born in 1916 in Nebraska, my Mom 1920 in Kansas. I have their stories that are quite like this. It was great seeing this. Thank you.

One of my favorite tv shows. Grew up to them in the 1970's ( born in 1971) and still watch them today. The only one you won't see in its actual location is the one in Wisconsin because it was relocated and had to be restored due to decay. I live 2 hours and 40 minutes from Rocky Ridge farm here in Missouri.
Thank you for taking me back home today. I could swear I smelled the sweet smell of a warm sunny Kansas day. Thank you again.😎🐕✌♥️
I loved the little house books when I was a young girl. I was sick a lot and the books were a great comfort for me. It also instilled a great love of history. I have the complete set of books in paper back.
I love the Little House on the Prarie show. I use to watch it years ago and I now watch it in reruns. It's on Monday's thru Friday's for three hours, one hour shows. I find myself looking forward to 5 pm when the first episode comes on and i watch all 3 episodes. I find it very relaxing, plus the fact that I love the period of time it was made in. I also love the Waltons. I am from a big family and the Waltons reminds me of my life. Thank's for your video.

Over my lifetime, I have watched every episode of Little House at least 2 or 3 times. Later in years, anytime I would find it on a channel, regardless if I had seen the episode before, I would watch it. I continue to watch it today. I would have loved to have lived in that era. I know life was hard, but it was so simple, and people were more respectful of each other. That is what this modern-day time is missing, Simple and Respect!!!!! Those were much simpler times than today. Great job Jordan, thanks for sharing.
That was really interesting ! I loved the Laura Ingalls books. I'm from MN, and my grandma brought me to the Laura Ingalls museum in Walnut Grove.
I grew up watching “Little House on the prairie “ and still have my books that I got as a Christmas gift.
Thank you for sharing! 🥰🎥
💋I loved this! Grew up reading the books. I have the entire box collection of them. They are just so precious. Also loved the show growing up. I just connect with everything that is good about a family going through things and sticking together in the Midwest. Blessings. ~Love and Light 💖Carli
Being from the UK, didn't know about the books and the original family. Thanks for educating me!
Didn’t realize how many different places they lived/traveled to. Love the sound of old, squeaky wooden floors...great vlog, Jordan!
What a great Vlog !.. I read the books, and as a family, we watched the tv show with our children.. Thank You!
WOW, these folks have done a remarkable job preserving this site. They deserve our respect and patronage!
Thanks for the trip!! Just as a reminder, Appomattox was where Robert E. Lee surrendered, and Osage is a tribe of Indian and pronounced Oh' sage. Loved seeing how well done this is!
Appomattox is a wonderful place to visit. It is a national park, and children can partake in the Ranger program.
Thanks!
Thank You for reading all that! Love the different places you take us to.
Your interests are a wide variety , Love it!
I read all of these books to my two children when they were very young. They are in their 30's now and they still remember me reading them. My Dad was born in 1916 in Nebraska, my Mom 1920 in Kansas. I have their stories that are quite like this. It was great seeing this. Thank you.
Truly loved this one Jordan thanks so much. I will play this for my 87-year-old mother who loved L.E.W. books.
I love that people preserve this culture for all to see
I was so excited when I saw the topic for today’s vlog! I loved the books as a child and later, the TV series. This was so interesting to me. I especially liked the Sunny Side School. Thanks for taking us here, Jordan!
THANK YOU for reading the plaque! Well done! Cheers!
Hopefully you can make it up to Walnut Grove, MN someday to see the things that relate more to the LHOTP show in particular.
My husband and I traveled by car from WV to Walnut Grove MN three years ago..... there is hardly anything at all there..... was so disappointed.
Wow so nice to see this video, thank you for showing us 😁👌 I believe that at this time for so long time ago, they hade so much closeness and love for each other.Incredible how small they lived ❤️ But they had each other, and raised their children well 💕In a way it is really nice to think about,no phone, iPad,tv etc.R.I.P. All together 🙏✌️🌟🌹🌟 I love watching the little house on the prairie on TV , with Michael Landon, and all the other wonderful actors, never get tired of it 🥰❣️❣️
You are the best tour guide. There was a mini series on several years ago of the true story of Laura. Sure it is still available.
Neat. I love those little histoeic museum spots.
Priceless....
THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR SHARING. I REALLY ENJOYED. ALL THE WAY FROM BRASIL. GOD BLESS YOU. LIVE LONG AND PROSPER.
Wonderful vlog jordan!!! I grew up in the 70s watching this and still catch it some on insp. Thank you for puttimg my imagination to reality about their house!!

Woohoo! Laura Ingalls Wilder is my favorite author. Read all her books and always wanted to go to the homesteads so thanknyou for this great tour!
Just an FYI, it's pronounced O - sage ( like the spice, herb, or whatever) Nice vlog. As a native Kansan, I'm enjoying this swing of yours through our Great State !!
Thanks for pointing this out. I know it's silly but I hurt every time he said it. I grew up a few miles from Fort Osage (an historic site in Missouri) and attended Fort Osage High School, so of course the word was already familiar to me.
This vloge touched my heart, it brought back days of walking through butter cups, and the cool caress of the grass on my bare feet, and the sweet smell of clover in the air. God bless you Jordan. Thank you again.😎🐕✌♥️
I loved the little house books when I was a young girl. I was sick a lot and the books were a great comfort for me. It also instilled a great love of history. I have the complete set of books in paper back.
🦁 Jordan, WOW!!! This brought back childhood memories. 😁. $3.00 to tour this whole area is Amazing. Another, Great Vlog! 👏👍👏
That was so awesome I loved that show and this really brought it to life! Thank you so much
YES!!!!!!!!! You are the best!
Love everything Little House.
Good pick!!
Thank's for your video.
if you have amazon prime the entire show is on prime video
My gosh I can’t believe you did this vlog so excited I watch it every day
That is completely amazing...I love that show..even today and I'm 57.
Great informative video! Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you! Love her books, her zest for life, her faith. This was so neat...as I don't think I would make it there. Thank you for sharing!
I have been there!! It is awesome to see you vlog it. I am excited to see where you are headed as you are going in the direction of my state! If you are going to Missouri Laura's home (actually 2 of them) where she wrote all the stories is in Mansfield, MO. One of my favorite attractions I have been to.
I was there in October 2021 and could not have been happier to see it all! I literally cried from happiness and did not want to leave! My daughter lives in Wichita so I'm sure we'll visit, again.
I'm actually related to the Inglles family. 4th cousin to Laura I think I would be. That's cool though
@Chris Rangel my great grandma who has passed figure it out and l my sister is the one who did the family tree since. So I dont know the name. But it's on Pa's side, one of his siblings
@Chris Rangel yeah her daughter didnt have any kids. She was an author herself though
Kristeena M Anybody who is related to someone famous should know how to spell their name.
@@jamiecramer3579 lol not if they suck at spelling all the time and its litterally not even close. I didnt meet her. I was just told by my great grandmother we are and my sister did the math. Take it or leave it hot my problem
@@kristeenam130 Laura did have siblings and I'm sure, so did her parents.
So cool, it is so nice to know there is a little house on the prairie museum. This was my favorite show when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing with us.
Great Job,Jordan:)Happy Landings!!:)
Hello Daze, thank you for the sharing, salute from France.
Thanks For The Video.
Oh so many years that since my grandmother gave me the first Laura Ingells Wilder book. My best friend borrowed one that spring & became so engrossed she barely spoke to anyone for months until she had read the whole collection. How cool to see this all . Fantastic vlog Jordan ! Loved that old Post office.
I’m so so so happy that you did this vlog. I have always wanted to see this place. Little House on the Prairie was my favorite show as a child. Thanks for all you do for us 💜
Awww in my home town. The vlog was a great one. Thanks for sharing with everyone. Great place to visit.
I'm a huge LHOTP fan. I've seen every episode. There I said it..
Thanks for sharing! I absolutely love little House on the prairie!!! I still watch it every day 😊
How'd they find the stuff at the post office and the log cabin and all to put on display
Books, t-shirts...bought in bulk. Sunbonnets and glass jar goods are probably sourced!!!
Thank you for all your research, LOVE your videos! Little House on the Prairie is an endearing part of all of our lives, thanks to Laura Ingalls Wilder and the magic of television. Thank you so much! Hugs to Jah!
Witness at Appomattox Courthouse is where Lee gave up to Grant at end of the Civil War. It means that guy witnessed the signing.
I was weeding through all of these fawning comments HOPING that someone caught that and explained what Appomattox was! It's stunning how many people have no idea of the history of this country that they live in!
Thank you so much for sharing these photos. I have yet to visit this site so it was nice to see pictures from different angles.
and i used to love when they were black actors that appear in the show. lol
I seen there home in de smet in South Dakota
Ha when Harriet Oleson assumed the Dr from New Orleans was French!!! Classic!!!!
Who were those two African American actors who on Dr Quinn? I think one was a man and another was a woman. Very good looking couple.
@Carol Young Because everyone deserves to be represented. Can you imagine growing up never or rarely seeing someone who looks like you in movies or on TV? I'm white and I get it.
@TopFive Doa yep..
Thanks Jordan. We never missed an episode of Little House on The Prairie. We literally watched this family grow up.
Could you visit louisa may alcotts home? That would be wonderful too.
Really enjoyed this. I grew up watching this show & watched repeats as an adult. A very interesting musuem.
I live ten miles from little house. Could of hung out! Lol
Loved books and TV show. Michael Landon and katherine McGovern. All of the cast. Thank you for sharing this. Laura charmed us all with the stories. God bless you .
This is one of my favorite videos.. I enjoyed it very much..The Little House On The Prairie had some great learning lessons..I still watch reruns on Cozi tv. ❤️🌈
Appomattox courthouse was where Grant and Lee signed the surrender of the Civil War in 1865. It is pronounced App - o- mat - tox.
I grew in southern Wisconsin, I still live there and my sister and I have made the journey to Laura Ingalls Days in Pepin which is always held the 2nd weekend in September. We've done it more than once.
That was great!! Brought back memories of the Little House On The Prairie Show.
I grew up w Little House and I still watch it till this day! Great video, thank you!!
Thank you so much for reading all the signs entirely! I appreciate it. Great video!
