- First week home with our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, miss Ridgeley. Crate training, house training, and dinner manners. First few nights were tough but she slept through the night on night's 5 and 6 😅
When I brought my RR home I made him sleep in my room the first night..second night I put his bed a bit farther, third night out of my room with the door open and so on. He never cried..
Ultimate Dog Breed. The unique combination of Intelligence, Power and Speed. The great RR
She definitely has her “person” she loves above all, but is loyal to all family members and does well in parks with other dogs because we socialized her often when she was young
Best dogs EVER!!! They’re beautiful, smart, easy to train if you know what you’re doing, gentle giants, sensitive, fun, adventurous, and so loving!!! The ultimate breed in my opinion!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
are they playful?
She is almost 3 now and LOVES to play hide and seek with her toys. We ask her to sit and “wait” and go in another room and hide it, then come back and say “where is it?” with our hands gesturing “I don’t know” in a questioning fashion, and she will dash away so excited and hunt until she finds it, then she comes back victoriously for our applause every time…ready for another round ❤️
i got one today they are crazy
She is absolutely GORGEOUS!
So sweet! I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback growing up and she was the best dog. Now that I have my own family (girls are 8&6) we are thinking of getting a puppy and I would love to get a Ridgeback.
Too Cute For Words!!!!
You guys dug deep in naming the dog...i like that
My mother said we couldn’t name her something cute like cupcake or precious because she was too elegant 🤣
She is so Cute!
she so cute!!!
Gosh she is so smart n seems well on her way to being trained. How did you do it?
I own a Ridgeback and at Arribas and also later he never slept in a jail 😢
Beautiful girl.
Awesome video! It’s reassuring to see that crate training worked after just 5 days. I just picked up my 7 week old ridgeback and he’s sleeping with my wife and I in the bed every night. I dislike the idea of him being in the bed with us. I will have to be persistent and keep him in the crate! On a side note, what brand of food are you using in the early days?
I had to look up videos for how to challenge this sweet girl every day but it's worth it. Hardest part to get through is puppy mouthing and teething, but don't give up! Just keep finding ways to work around it (it is only temporary and by 4-5 months it's almost a non issue). We used Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy food and haven't had any problems). Congrats on your newest addition!
Also, once they learn they can sleep in the bed it is hard to break, and they get really big! But they are such sweet snuggle buddies it's hard not to let them. Mine could jump up onto the bed after 3-4 months.
Really appreciate the advice!
Kyle Robinson How is the training going with the puppy? Hoping all the social distancing has given you more time to spend training and bonding with your puppy
Kyle - I forgot to mention that we started “floor bed training” when she was 4-5 months old so she could stretch out more at night, but ONLY after we knew she would behave (and she loves her big fluffy bed so much she will go there on her own when she’s ready for night night now)
What type of crate is that if you don’t mind me asking. We are picking up our RR puppy in November. Want to get something a bit more quality and better looking than a regular wire crate.

Hi Molly! Thank you for the video! How often did you take her out every night during the first week?
Ben K only once in the middle of the night, but we took her at 10:00p and 6:00a. About every 4 hours.
Thanks for sharing your first night. I am in the process of bringing a RR puppy into my life. I was wondering about the crate you are using? I have not seen one like that before. Can you tell me what is the brand of crate and where did you get it?
Erin Montgomery on Amazon and she fits in it well as a grown puppy. We got a few soft mats for the bottom also

Thank you so much for sharing the info. I will go check it out. 😊
Cute puppy we are getting one in a month. Where did you buy the bed and the tray toy. Also really liked the crate as well. Appreciate if you can share the info of where to get it from
Au chemie it's a rough first few nights but you can do it. Amazon and Petco have the beds. And a crate was wonderful for positive reinforcement training. She only got peanut butter when she went inside, and no other time (because it's her favorite).

@@jmolawol Thank you
Au chemie how has the training been going with the puppy?
Did you let her cry it out the first few nights or did you go to her? Was it potty related? Just curious - i last brought my last RR puppy home 15 years ago and am getting one next month and can;t quite recall. :)
We only let her cry if it was less than 3 hours from her last trip to go potty. Usually it was only for the first 10-15 minutes. She would wake up and cry after a few hours and those were the “let’s go outside” cries vs the “I miss my family” cries.
Did you crate her out of the bedroom? Crated my GSD in a separate room and the crying lasted a few weeks so wondering if in the bedroom it would be less. Getting mine in Aug and never owned the breed. Thanks.
F D we crated her in the living room, and I slept on the sofa in the room with her the first week. We only gave her peanut butter in the crate which helped make it a fun/safe place also.
@@jmolawol Thanks!
