Also, any chance you would consider a follow up visit to that Summit resort place in The Poconos? Checking in but also perhaps showing some things you didn't the first time around? My favorite video of yours and also made me obsessed with the place. Humble fan suggestion.
So crazy, I just was thinking about the elkmont, especially the wonderland club, then you post this. Thank you. I looked it up as i was watching this, and I found that some arsonist burned it to the ground. Heart breaking.
Wood in those houses was probably treated. Varnished or painted, but even with today's wood lacquers you have to paint every few years on outside surfaces, even those that are never touched by anything. Elements wreck untreated wood. So it's not hard to imagine that when roofs leak for decades wood becomes completely rotten and collapses on itself.
I love urbex type activities but 99% of urbex videos are utter shit, either because they're about showing off, or trying too hard to be full of action and drama. I really like that yours convey the atmosphere, quiet, stillness and suspense of exploring an abandoned place.
You were the first urban explorer I ever watched and I still think you are the best. Your filming technique and storyline are always the best. Thanks for going back to this style of filming. It's as if you were sitting in an easy chair relating a "tall tale" to a group of friends or family. Top notch work!!!
I used to have pretty bad anxiety and watching Dan's Quiet Time and Dead Mall videos always helped me calm down. There's just something so relaxing about them but still very entertaining. 💖
I did some research on that place a while back and it's abandoned because the land was leased from the government, and once the lease was up the first time they were granted a 15 year extension but after that they refused to extend it further and the 25 or so people that were still living there had to leave. Also, you didn't get to see the main clubhouse (the big white building you saw was the hotel/ballroom), because it collapsed in a storm due to neglect years back and the park service removed the remains. Awesome video!
Dear Dan, my favorite RUclips therapist, I want to thank you so much for making your videos, specifically this one because it hits home to me. I live in Florida and don't like to go outside much because it's so horrendous 90% of the year and nature is one of the things that brings me true peace and happiness, so I spend a lot of time being pathetic in my room watching RUclips in front of a fan.. but earlier this year I was admitted to a residential mental health treatment center in Sevierville, Tennessee, which is also located inside of the national park, and I was there for about 7 weeks before I returned home, and what you say in this video about the fresh air of the Smoky Mountains and how you just want to bottle it and keep it forever, it really connects with me, because on my first morning at the treatment center, I went outside and took the biggest breath in and just closed my eyes and listened to the birds chirping their "cheeseburger" song and I knew it was the beginning of the rest of my new life... I really truly appreciate you, your sincerity, your intelligence, your sense of humor, and most of all, your fucking BALLS.
Dan, this was so lovely. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed it. The serene sound of the wind, your voice and the natural decay in the mountains. This is why I subscribed to you so many years ago, these videos are genuinely pieces of art. I am so surprised it took you so long to upload this beautiful footage. Sending love from Minnesota, Julia ❤
It'll be awfully hard to get in to those homes with heavy machinery in the second village, the tree growth is too dense. They'd have to do some clearing first. And I highly doubt they'd want people going in to manually dismantle them, that's really only feasible if a building is still mostly structurally sound, which those definitely are not. Those may well just be allowed to fall back into the earth.
Wow! So very incredible and unique! So glad I just now discovered your videos. I’m a huge haunt fan and also a huge ASMR fan as well. You got a new subscriber!
Interesting story; I was camping at the elkmont campground in June of 2016, and wanted to explore the wonderland hotel, but it had sadly burned down, apparently in the spring of '16. So to see your footage captured just before this grand building was lost to history is really special.
Awesome!! I'm so glad that you are doing this intentionally. You have the perfect voice for ASMR. When I'm not watching spooky video's, I'm watching ASMR video's. Now you have given me both ❤️ 😴💤 Thank you 😊
Henry River Mill Village was purchased and turned into a Paid Tour Attraction, Luckily i was able to film it before that happened, but at least it is now being maintained to some degree !
I SERIOUSLY need these Dan if you can continue! I was on Patreon but don’t work any longer but want to get back on there as soon as I can. Thank you for all you do!
Dan you are turning me on... Thanks now I can't sleep 😝 I love this quite time idea! It's so relaxing and enjoying to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you do! I have been watching you for almost three years now. I can't believe you don't have a billion subscribers!!! 🤗🤗 Keep up the amazing work!!
I love Elkmont! I discovered it in the summer of 2017 so the Wonderland was already demolished. They actually demolished a lot of the homes last summer😑
I’m so happy I found your channel! This has helped calm me down at night. You’re awesome! I’ve been struggling with Anxiety and have always been fascinated with old buildings. 😬☺️👏🏼
Very much enjoy your Quiet time videos Dan. A quiet glimpse into the past. It's ashame these mountain retreats couldn't be restored or recreated into retreats today. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing Dan. Yes, I crindged for you walking on those porch planks. Greetings from Ky.
I know i have said it before but I LOVE these the most ....its like ASMR but better ....Thank you so so much for bringing this series back .....my only problem is while yes ASMRist vids can put me to sleep I force myself to stay awake for these :) I dont want to miss the adventure
One of my favorite bed time videos. I even watch some of the more "scary" type videos just because your voice is so... calming. You have such amazing gifts and talents and I'm glad you share them with all of us
I'm signing up on your Patreon bc of these videos - although I do love ALL of your videos! These types of videos are amazing - helps my anxiety and I get to see old buildings. Keep up the great work.
Love watching your videos walking through these old "gems"... I imagine the people that have stayed there... all the dinner parties and get togethers that had taken place over the years... lives were lived there, it would be amazing to hear stories, see photos of when they were alive and vibrant...
Henry River Mill Village is such a cool place , they have closed everything up and they started charging for guided tours, glad to be able to see it before that happened, another very similar abandoned mill village in NC is Oakdale Mill Village in Jamestown NC its awesome as well !!
I really appreciate you sharing such awesome footage with us all, and especially how much effort you put in to getting such high quality. I’m not really sure how to explain why urban exploration videos mean so much to me, but they’re so interesting and invoke a lot of feelings. Your videos in particular help soothe my anxiety by giving me something to focus on like the stories of these places. When I’m in a better financial position I plan on becoming a patron for sure. But in the meantime, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your content and the effort you put in.
This was quite enjoyable, quiet, calming video plus I enjoy hearing the history, you take the time to read up on places you film and it's refreshing, I envision how the home once looked and how people must of enjoyed their surroundings 😄😋👍...a interesting look back in time for sure!.... Thank you Dan 💗💋---------->>>> Thumbs up! 👍
Hi Dan, I’m so happy to find that you still have your abandoned Chanel. I thought that you were only doing dirty rooms. If I may suggest for these abandoned videos, maybe you can include low sounds of nature with your soft voice as you tell us about your explorations. Love your vide’o’s! Thank you so much for taking us on your adventures. ❤️
*OMG!! These put me to sleep right after my nightly cannabis toke!! A perfect Dan Bell video for me would be one that employs ASMR techniques and Dan Bell's softly-spoken VO narration.*
Great video Dan !!! Your one of the best !!!! You for sure have the most soothing voice !!! You deserve many more subscribers. I’ll be more relaxed and most likely back to sleep after this video. Keep them up !! 😊❤️♥️✌️
Love these types of videos Dan. Nice to see this place hasn't been destroyed by a bunch of knothead teens with their spray cans. Hey very smart idea with the shoes. Keep on with the keepin' on.
Great Video Dan!! I think these are easily good enough to put on your main channel!! Some of the crap I see from other RUclipsrs, they think they are really good. Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to the next ADR!
This is a very good idea. And much respect for being creative with your videos. I guess I may be weird but I like the sound of the gravel and the camera sounds and just natural lower talking rather than whispering because it sounds forced I guess? Nonetheless, great video
I live in northern Virginia but on the West Virginia side of the state. So Winchester not Fairfax. Anyway in the early 2000's I spent about ten years playing around in the city on the west side. Like Harlem Ave. We'd take I-70 all the way to the end and take security blvd up to Edmondson ave and I'd go back in Edmondson Village and I spent a lot of time right outside or driving through Leakin Park and had no clue at all about that place. I was young like 19 years old and I had just started shooting dope. We would cop around the Giant or off the street back farther down, like left off Edmondson Ave to Allen St (maybe?) and Harlem st and go down that big hill there. When we'd turn the corner to go down Harlem Ave children would chase my car with their hands out full of crack. They'd chase us down to the bottom of the hill and pick out your dope man then they all walk off at one time once you pick your man out. It was so sad every time I turned that corner and have these 9 10 12 year old children running me down. I spent a week homeless stuck in a minivan. Me and this very feindish girl got stuck there with no gas because she was impatient and impulsive. She made a horrible running mate. We'd made friends with this homeless dude who pretended to wash people's cars while they either waited for their man or he'd go cop for them. We spent a week picking up hacks trying to make enough money to get well and get gas which my partner always fucked up. The homeless dude was our only connection to the city so we went to him for advise and help. He told us to pick up hacks and don't cop off the street come to him. For some stupid reason the girl I basically started heroin for acted so ungrateful for everything that dude did for us. I loved the man. I'd have taken him home with me to stay with me but I doubt he'd wanna leave the city. I was a fat doughy white as white white boy with drew carey glasses. I had long hair that had been died and I basically looked like a grunge child with big black framed glasses. So the people of the city either loved me with open arms, told me I need to be very careful because the city ain't no joke or they'd tell me I know what your white ass is doing in my city and I want you to get the fuck out of it. I only got told to fuck off white boy a few times. Most times the people just laughed at me and called me drew carey. When I'd try to cop they'd come up to the car laughing and joking on me then when I'd ask to cop they'd be awww hell no officer I thought you was just stupid and I'd have to show them my pitiful tracks and then I'd be good to go. I met some boosters while hacking and was just totally shocked the balls they had. It was 3 people. 1 chick, her man, and someone's uncle who owned the house they lived in. The couple invited us to stay in their house till we got on our feet but the uncle said no cause we seemed cool but we still just white outta town junkies. The homeless dude that was looking out for us really good was an amazing story teller and man did he have some amazing stories. He had a stab wound scar or bullet wound scar for evey truck they jacked it seemed. He used to steal tractor trailers! I thought that was insane!!! Every morning he'd wake me up a little early and let the chick sleep in. We'd smoke the best crack ive ever had literally. I never like coke in any form but what he had was like doing a whole other better drug. He'd get me up and we'd chill, wake the ungrateful annoying bitch up by thist is I met a shit load of people in Bmore and like 85% were cool as a fan and maybe 12% off the people were out to rob you and get you. The rest hated my guts because I represented heroin tourism. Picking up hacks in Bmore before gps existed was next to impossible. I got very very very lost many times. Even got lost so deep in the hood dude's just started showing me guns when I'd stop at the stop signs. I just stopped stopping. Point is I loved that city and even though ive only been in the bad parts mostly the people were so great. The cops were like roving bands of vicious wolves. Every single time I got pulled over in the city (except for once) I had no dope on me so they'd just rob me of all cash and tobacco, put me in hand cuffs and kick my ass a little and letting me go with nothing. The cops in the hood were like a vicious street gang that had the power to kidnap you straight off the street cause they felt like it. Honestly that's why ive never came back to see the nice parts of the city because I'm scared gps is gonna route me through the dope spot and since my towns the 3rd worst city for dope in VA one of those cameras are realize where I'm from and the attack dogs get let loose on me. Nope no no no. Been through central booking bullshit and all that. I paid a lawyer and the cops didn't show so they dropped the charges. It's sad that just the small amount I suffered in the city dope game causes me a real panic attack. Thanks a lot for giving people like me who honestly would love to come back but I can't

Oh nice! I swear to fuck I had no idea you even did a podcast. Following too many channels or I'm just out of it. Probably both. Yeah both.
Dan, when did you shoot the Wonderland footage? I had heard the hotel section burned down back in 2016 or so...
I can picture Dan drinking scotch and wearing a velvet smoking jacket when he narrates these videos.🥃😎
L.B. BEE ho says he doesn’t already do that lol.
I can picture him also doing that while filming 😁
After giving the sedatives to calm Rick
Joshua Ayres there is no calming Rick lol.
Much joy.

Straight facts.

Dan tells me a bedtime story, I sleep. Thanks, Dan👍
I adore this series.
I really appreciate and miss this random side of your filming Dan!! Thank you for bringing it back!! Stay awesome!! 👊😊✌
I used to have pretty bad anxiety and watching Dan's Quiet Time and Dead Mall videos always helped me calm down. There's just something so relaxing about them but still very entertaining. 💖

Dan is one smooth dude!! That voice is smooth like BUTTER!!
Louisiana Apple buttahhhh! Lol!
Ah, at last, someone has found just the right word for it! Thank you!
Those stone chimneys were things of beauty....
The first houses in the beginning of the video is where they filmed District 12 from the Hunger Games. The bakery was where Peta worked/lived.
Thanks, Dan, for taking me on your journey. Love the old houses, and I can smell the fresh air.
Dear Dan, my favorite RUclips therapist,
I want to thank you so much for making your videos, specifically this one because it hits home to me. Abandoned ASMR is a perfect descriptor! Love these videos
Dan you have such a great voice, you could read the phone book and I would listen!
Just watch the last 2 you posted. I love them all.
There is beauty in abandoned buildings and this video is a perfect showcase of that.
You are amazing Dan Bell! Thank you for all your efforts to entertain us and to help us relax! Much appreciated! From western Australia xx
Dan ASMR before....I certainly hope he doesn't haunt my dreams. ;)
Dan, you honestly turn off my panic attacks with these. A thousand blessings on your beautiful soul.
Bonus points for using the Hunger Games site.
Keep up the amazing work Dan. I'm a straight up Bell addict!
You have a wonderful talent for relaxation! I am at complete peace. More ASMR!

Thanks for all these Quiet Time videos! I didn't realize I needed one of these until I started watching this one just now. I feel way more relaxed.
Interesting story; I was camping at the elkmont campground in June of 2016, and wanted to explore the wonderland hotel, but it had sadly burned down, apparently in the spring of '16. So to see your footage captured just before this grand building was lost to history is really special.

I’m so glad that quiet time is back I’ve missed this calming peaceful side of the channel
Awesome!! I'm so glad that you are doing this intentionally. You have the perfect voice for ASMR. When I'm not watching spooky video's, I'm watching ASMR video's. Now you have given me both ❤️ 😴💤 Thank you 😊
Truly enjoyed this vid. Seen things on Elkmont before. But nothing like you showed it. Very well done.
I believe a lot of them have been demolished by now. Thanks for having it on film and sharing.
Henry River Mill Village was purchased and turned into a Paid Tour Attraction, Luckily i was able to film it before that happened, but at least it is now being maintained to some degree !
You should do some Story Time as well! I really miss those, so interesting to listen to.
I SERIOUSLY need these Dan if you can continue! I was on Patreon but don’t work any longer but want to get back on there as soon as I can. Thank you for all you do!
I just love you videos. So relaxing to listen and watch.

Keep this quiet time series going Dan I can't get enough!
In a time where i have struggled to stay on this plane your entire channel has brought me back. Thankyou for helping me hang on
I love Elkmont! I discovered it in the summer of 2017 so the Wonderland was already demolished. They actually demolished a lot of the homes last summer😑
Yesss me and my fiancee are watching it with the ADR Polaroid of Brennan and Rick in the shower, that I won on ebay, staring back at us😏.
Take care of that photo!!! I hated parting with it. So good!!!

I really enjoyed this, it was indeed very relaxing. Can’t wait for more!
Dan these videos are so soothing as well as suck you right in. These may be your best videos to date.

Just catching up on your previous two podcasts on my way to work. Keep up the great work!
*OMG!! These put me to sleep right after my nightly cannabis toke!! A perfect Dan Bell video for me would be one that employs ASMR techniques and Dan Bell's softly-spoken VO narration.*
I've suffered anxiety and panic attacks, and depression since my Parents died, these videos are so relaxing, thank you Dan
Another good one! Love old abandoned places it just triggers the imagination thinking about the history of a place!

Great Video Dan!! I think these are easily good enough to put on your main channel!! Some of the crap I see from other RUclipsrs, they think they are really good. Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to the next ADR!
This was beautiful, just what I needed to relax.
This is a very good idea. And much respect for being creative with your videos. I guess I may be weird but I like the sound of the gravel and the camera sounds and just natural lower talking rather than whispering because it sounds forced I guess? Nonetheless, great video
According to Wikipedia the big building burned down in 2016 :(
Love these videos! Well done. Makes me curious of all the abandoned buildings/small towns around me in Cincinnati
excellent video, simultaneously fascinating and laid back.
I don't know what it is about your voice but 5 mins in I'm sleep, glasses on and all 😭😂😂
Mate, I listen to you nightly when my anxiety about my shit job that I have to face in the morning creeps in. You do much good.

And we are excited and enthusiastic for you sharing this with us, Dan!
