I may or may not have mentioned on your channel, that I didn't really get into gaming until around 2020. I got a switch around 2019 and the first game I got for it was Animal Crossing. I never played this game before, never owned a gamecube myself, and this game made me feel so relaxed and good inside. I was going through a lot of traumatic personal things around this time and this game allowed me sort of escape it all. It was a sort of utopia I could pop into whenever I wanted. I'm so glad they made this game and continue to perfect the cosy genre of gaming. Thanks for covering this !
Pretty sure Concerned Ape in multiple interviews says that Harvest Moon was a huge inspiration on the development of Stardew Valley, but yeah, my first 'cozy game' was Harvest Moon: Back to Nature for the PS1.
oh absolutely! it’s the actual gaming community that seem to only reference Stardew when it comes to the foundation of cozy gaming, not ConcernedApe himself haha
beautiful editing! this could be helpful for those discovering the genre, as for me, I have played both Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing in 2012, so when Stardew Valley suddenly popularized the genre I couldn't really understand WHY it was IT that captured everyone so much??? I've played a lot of it, kinda did everything there is and it still feels somehow unfinished to me, so it's cool to see this genre evolving beyond just copying it! I'm currently enjoying Dreamlight Valley more than I thought I would and THAT game feels like a more streamlined and exciting variation of the formula, and it seems to be doing well, too! BTW, did you do any sort of review of Dreamlight?? Couldn't find it on the channel..
I think it’s extremely interesting how Stardew became the core and the foundation in a lot of peoples eyes, definitely not knocking the game because I absolutely love Stardew valley. But it’s surprising that people forget that animal crossing was around first! & I have not made a video on DDL but I do love the game 🥹🤍🫶🏻
I’m a little bit younger and I didn’t know that animal crossing came out before Stardew valley. Why don’t more people reference animal crossing as the foundation? 😮

Cozy games are perfect, the older I get, just sometimes easier to relax after a long day.

thank you! 🫶🏻🖤
I really got into cozy games super late (2 years ago). But I really love Cozy Grove. Before that I mostly played puzzle games (puyo or BTD6).
ohhh believe it or not I actually haven’t played Cozy Grove! but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it 🫶🏻🤍
Great video!
Just a suggestion, raise audio gain by like 4 to 8 db, the volume is kinda low
thank you so much for the feedback! 🫶🏻🤍

great question!
I thought they did until this video. I have never heard of anyone calling SV the og
@@imanithepinkmonster I’m wondering if maybe it’s the younger generation who are getting into cozy but weren’t gaming in the 90’s?
