Sakura really needs vertical space to feel safe. She should have a nice big cat tree and a few other varying sizes of trees to help her feel more secure
@@Diamondjenn I actually think Moon is the only real problem. I've see her interact with wolf before and he doesn't really care and I think with enough bonding and time she can get along with Hunter and Monty. Young Huskies are notoriously difficult with smaller pets but not impossible though.

JOEY THIS WAS A LIFE SAVER FOR ME! There are cat gates that take up the WHOLE doorway! My bf has a husky with a high prey drive and my cat LOVES dogs, so we put this up to seperate half the house so my kitty didnt feel trapped in a small room! we got the 70 inch tall one, they can look at eachother but not attack eachother so its worked amazingly! Also maybe you should make a catio for Sakura!

You do know that one cats tend to hide when they are in a different or new house right and two hiding under the bed at the friend's house also doesn't mean that she's uncomfortable some cats like dark places I've had cats all my life I've had cats who loved going under the bed or going in the closet or under blankets and it's because some cats like and feel safe in small dark areas not all cats like big spaces it can overwhelm them and since she was a stray small dark places are probably what made her feel safe in this big dangerous world so don't judge when you don't know what your talking about or the cat like I said not all cats like big spaces

Agreed! Cats are super social animals (same as dogs!) and shes a solo cat that is confined to a single small room. They want to spend time with their humans and not be locked in a small space. She also doesn't seem to have a cat tree (I hope she has one and Joey just didn't have time to set it up yet). I just hope he does what is best for her!

But that's not what this is about - shes never gonna roam the house cause of the dogs and their prey drive as Joey said. Is she supposed to spend her entire life in this tiny box? What a sad life! Cats are super social animals and wanna spend time with their humans. My cats never leave my side, I couldn't imagine locking them into a tiny room.

Generally cats don't like being confined to one room or one space of the house (my cats certainly don't). I wonder if you've considered the fact that you might have too many animals in the house. This is coming with love as I know it can be stressful trying to figure out how to make space for your animals (been there before). I hope you think about the quality of life that she's getting -- not just comfort in the form of new cat litter boxes or new toys... at your friend's place, she was kept to a bedroom as well. Imagining that as my cat just breaks my heart. There really is no shame in admitting you've exceeded your capacity, especially with how stressed she is, I promise you!

I think we should probably chill on the the borderline animal abuse accusations that you are putting on Joey. He loves his animals more than he loves himself. This temporary set up will be fine for Sakura. I’m sure he will get her more enrichment items such as furniture & toys. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the animal shelter/ homeless animal population especially in California but it’s better for her to be in a home with an owner that loves her, than to go to a new home that could potentially get rid of her. You never know, with time she could get more used to the dogs / the dogs could get more used to her. There’s also always options for training.

Loving an animal dearly does not equal "let me overlook one of the needs that I'm not able to provide for them." It's damaging as well to look down on those who KNOW they need to rehome their pets to LOVING family members or friends. It's actually extremely responsible to know when you're able to recognize that it may be better for your beloved animal to find a better forever home that fits all of their needs. Dog training is certainly an option as well, and if Joey takes the time to do this then I truly and sincerely look forward to it! However, not everyone has the time or patience to do so. I was lucky that my dog is very gentle and loves my cats. Some dogs have inherent hunting instincts that may be more difficult. Overall, all animals are most likely stressed with Sakura around. My only desire is for Joey to be aware that no one is going to think he's a bad pet owner if he realizes his capacity for permanently homed animals has been reached. Have you tried training your dogs to be around Sakura? I understand it's challenging and can seem frightening and nearly impossible in the beginning, but it should be doable with enough supervision and perseverance. Some pet trainers specialize in that, too :)
Huskies have a very high prey drive and aren't recommended to be around cats. I managed to train mine to a point to be around my parent's cats but she was very young when I started and the cats were very good at telling her off if needed. I can see why some wouldn't attempt it, especially when there's multiple dogs. With pack mentality and over arousal etc it's a big risk and can only take a second for things to go wrong
A litter box like that would be game changer since I have arthritis and bending down is hard but I also can't come close to affording that! Maybe one day as it seems awesome! 🤞🏻

So fun to see you and your pets again! Cool litter box. The only thing you might consider is removing the scent thing. Cats need to smell their own poop and pee. It's a scent marking instinct. If you've ever watched your cat sit, get up, and sniff the spot, it's making sure this spot is owned. Also the scents can be too strong. Cats have very sensitive noses which makes the scents overpowering. If she is put off by the scent, she won't use it. If that ends up being true, remove the scent and see if she uses it then. Jackson Galaxy has great videos about litter boxes dos and don'ts. I hope she gets used to her new room quickly!

Try the Feliway diffuser! It plugs into the wall and gives off a comforting scent for kitties. We use it a ton at the shelter I work at. Just remember to change it out after 30 days.

One thing about self cleaning boxes. Not bashing them, but I know vets don't always recommend bc you can't tell if there is anything abnormal going on (blood, for one). Just something to be aware of. 💛

So Sakura’s placement now is only temporary, especially since the dogs haven’t seen her. She’ll be fine. The scent of the dogs will make her more anxious, so staying in a room with her own scent will make her feel safer.

When the dogs are out side he let's her roam. He leaves the dogs out hours at a time of he can so she's not always in that room

So fun to see you and your pets again! Cool litter box. The only thing you might consider is removing the scent thing. Cats need to smell their own poop and pee. It's a scent marking instinct. If you've ever watched your cat sit, get up, and sniff the spot, it's making sure this spot is owned. Also the scents can be too strong. Cats have very sensitive noses which makes the scents overpowering. If she is put off by the scent, she won't use it. If that ends up being true, remove the scent and see if she uses it then. Jackson Galaxy has great videos about litter boxes dos and don'ts. I hope she gets used to her new room quickly!

Try the Feliway diffuser! It plugs into the wall and gives off a comforting scent for kitties. We use it a ton at the shelter I work at. Just remember to change it out after 30 days.

One thing about self cleaning boxes. Not bashing them, but I know vets don't always recommend bc you can't tell if there is anything abnormal going on (blood, for one). Just something to be aware of. 💛

As people are mentioning, she is uncomfortable- But I saw another comment mention he’s staying in an Air BnB and his current home is being rented out until next month. So Sakura’s placement now is only temporary, especially since the dogs haven’t seen her. However, when they’re back in their old place - I imagine Sakura will be back in her usual half of the house which, if any of you remember, is separated from the dogs by a gate.
