It really looks great ...except for the weirdness on all four corners. But polarization is a good thing I guess. Either you like it or you don't. Either you can afford it or you can't. I'll take mine in yellow ...if I ever win the lottery 😔
@@DrivenCarReviews I just bought an '06 SC with 133K and love it. I suspect that the LC may not sell well given it's steep price, but hoping that that years down the road you will be able to pick up a used one up very reasonably.
Tom, At a weight of 4,540 pounds this is almost equal to a 4X4 4Runner. For the record, if I am able to marry extremely well in the very near future, I'll take one of the those blue LCs and a couple of 4Runners for rainy days.
Tom, your wry humor and formidable linguistic abilities, not to mention great speaking voice and deep well of knowledge are lost on way too many people. You should be the one with 3.65m subscribers!
I love your reviews Tom! Home from work, always admired the company, I haven’t found a model I’d get but perhaps the sedan! Really appreciate the therapeutic quality of your reviews! Thanks 🙏
How many European luxury sport cars have a 4 litre twin turbo V8 . It almost seems like they just have a depot where they all pick up what quantity they need for the month. No matter what brand lol. This , this is how it should be done !
Tom, I found you while watching another channel review the new 2021 Tahoe. I am very impressed with your reviews with or without. the COSTCO butt wipes. Thank you for the time you spend preparing the reviews. It is refreshing to watch you knowledge and wit.
Tom you always crack me up at the end of your videos. Evil twin walked away from the back seat test and so would I. All in all the LC is beautiful and that V8 does sound amazing! As always I love your reviews!
I hope no one kills me for saying this, but the Lexus LC 500 and LC 500 Convertible is what the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabriolet should be in 2020. Even though the LC is still an arguably dated car, it’s still a much more modern contender than the GT/GC, and when priced out, your getting a substantial discount if you take the LC route with a guarantee that the LC will hold its value exceptionally well. Granted, I still like the GT and GC and if I were given the option to choose, I’d probably take the Italian route, but the LC just makes so much sense right now that it’s hard to argue with such a winning formula. Folks in Modena take note!
New to channel last video I saw was the featuring of the Sonata Hybrid. Tasteful review on the LC Convertible. Can't wait till they think about reviving plans for LC-F!
these cars in yellow are down right awesome. Proof that black, white, silver, and gray are a real drag. Fun cars need to have fun colors. This yellow and blue and fantastic. Cars need better color pallets; and I don't care what color surveys say...black, while, silver, and gray do well because they lease well and that is what dealers stock. Boo to drab...hip hip huray for bright and colorful!!!
I se this as a collectible. I see it in my driveway in a few weeks. Yup I bought a 2023 Convertible. It’s just beautiful and very low production numbers, a recipe for a collectible 🏖️
About the infotainment....it's not bad at all. It works just fine. Even if it was touchscreen, you'd still have to take your eyes off the road and....your fingerprints would be all over the screen. As an owner of a 2018 LC500, what you want to do is to read all the manuals since you did buy a very high tech, high performance machine. Then, become familiar with VOICE COMMAND. Once you do all this, go into SETUP and set your own personal prefs. Using VOICE COMMAND you can make the climate suit the conditions for the most part or you can use CLIMATE CONCIERGE which will make the car pretty comfortable in all situations. This is NOT A RACE CAR. Lexus designers and engineers went the extra mile to make this car exquisite in every respect. It is plenty fast. But most of all, you will be driving in style. Trust me, when you own and drive one of these beautiful cars every single day....you appreciate it more and more. It's just fabulous.
Great review! Lovely car, but I can’t believe they didn’t allow the trunk to accommodate a set of golf clubs (don’t they know their customers?). Even my Boxster can handle that. Also, that infotainment :-( . Otherwise, I want this car!
john lee Just false. My 987.2 trunk swallows my clubs and bag no problem. I take out the driver and set it separately in the trunk. My push cart fits in the frunk. If you remove all clubs from the bag and lie them flat in the trunk, you can carry TWO sets of clubs and two bags.
Such a great looking convertible, Tom! I'm sure this would look great sitting in your driveway... but, I wouldn't advise that you drive it anywhere NEAR downtown Seattle these days.
Consider that I had this car at the peak of the demonstrations. Also, I don't live all that far from downtown Seattle. The situation is not nearly as bad as Fox News is making it out to be. I go downtown all the time.
Even at this price I do care about fuel economy. I want luxury & performance but don't want to consume indulgent amounts of fossil fuel and further contribute to climate warming.
Tom as always, concise and enjoyable mature reviews, no giggling or wasteful information. Been a fan since I started reading you in the NYT quiet a few years ago...thanks for the well done review of this classic sports convertible....wow...over 100k huh? Well, I’ll wait till they drop down to 85 k on the used market in 5 years....damn you Lexus resale! Lol....
I am not sure they're styling is all that original. Looks to me the stole a lot from Jaguar including exterior door handles, overall silluoett and interior J bar. The back seat is essential your trunk and I am ok with that. Very pretty car though and glad someone is still making V8s.
Jags are sleeker and smoother with less detailing within the silhouette. There are a lot of lines going on in the headlights that the Brits just won't stand for. Also, there used to be a kids show called HR Pufnstuff. I keep seeing the main characters eyes in the LCs headlights.
I am looking at the LC500 convertible versus the C8 Corvette HTC as my retirement car in less than four years. This car has the mature kind of beauty that I greatly admire. However, I can't get over the impracticality compared with the C8, believe that or not. The C8 offers more cargo space, no rear seat versus a fake one, hard top, much lighter, comparable interior (LT3), better performance, comfy ride quality (Z51 should be paired with mag ride), and a lower price. Although I would almost rather view Rosie O'Donnell's rear end that that of the C8, I have to choose it. And I don't buy that the LC500 was designed as a convertible, due to the added 200 lbs just for a rag top. On the other hand the hard top option on the C8 adds a mere 80 lbs.
'Lightening bolt' daytime running lights? I think not. I believe I heard Lexus' designers using an 'arrow' motif. Don't feel bad; another reviewer thought they looked like fish hooks. btw, I own an Ultra White LC500. It's been three years now and I still love driving it. You didn't mention the Japanese way the center console cover closes (fast at first, then slow to close). Did you notice the similarity between the front and back of the vehicle? Same proportions. How about the Fuji Raceway 'F' tail lights? Hot towel dispenser? (kidding, not even an option). Evil Twin gag is funny.
Beautiful car! It's sucks that sports car/coupes are dying off. Mercedes canceling a bunch of models, no more Accord coupe, Civic coupe just discontinued.... Nothing but crossovers, SUV's, and SUV "coupes" lol
Well, i was wearing Levis in my wedding so even this beauty couldn't make me change my habits, lol! I got to say Tom you re looking much more better and unique than all the Gents you ve mentioned before.

Evil Twin’s disappointment was heartbreaking to watch.
The LC500 is the best looking Lexus to come out in years and the convertible somehow manages to look even better. Awesome video as always Tom.

This is a great color to really show off the shape, but that blue is absolutely stunning.
Love the red light, green light recap. Keep up the good work, you're very entertaining!

And no, I am not kidding. Seriously.
The first Lexus in a very long time that I find appealing ... except, of course, for that grill.

The new SC. Love that V8 burble.
The Germans should just close shop after Lexus dropped this marvel of Engineering. This is a spiritual successor to the Cadillac XLR.

A C8 convertible will compete with this as well.
True. Strictly 2-seater though.
Great review!
Great vid!
Why does it appear that there are blinking lights on the front of the car when you are standing next to it talking?
Probably because the frame rate of the camera exceeds the frequency/reset rate of the LEDs, so can see them ‘flicker’.
They're LED lights - a common issue since the camera's frame rate is not aligned with the frequency of the lights, aka strobe effect.
Lovely review🌝

There’s no way you can put a set of golf clubs in a boxster. You might be able to put it on the back seat of the LC 500 though.

Somehow the Miata has a better execution if one of the objectives was to bring back your youth. The LC500 is an impulse purchase at best.

LC 500 vs AMG GT R?
The AMG competitor would be like the AMG GTC convertible. The GT R is wayy more money and a different kind of car
