You could do another month or three! 😂 loved this series, I binge watched while I drank my coffee this morning. How you cook and use/freeze leftovers is similar to how I do things at my home. I haven’t joined the challenge, but watching challenge videos has inspired me to be more mindful of digging in the back of my freezers and looking for things that I need to use ! Thank you so much and God bless!

So sweet, thank you Angela! You taking the time to watch and comment inspires me too! So happy to hear you're enjoying the series. I'm going to keep going for awhile. Hope to visit more often in the days to come, while you enjoy your morning coffee. God bless!

When any seasoning gets a bit stuck or clumped, just blitz in your processor and good as rain!

Thanks, I know... Thankfully, humidity levels are way lower here than south Louisiana. Thought of you a little while ago, I just made a king cake using bourbon for an upcoming Mardi Gras video. Thanks for stopping by and watching!

Have you ever made a wild duck stew with fresh turnips cut up and cooked in it? My mother was from Crowley and made this dish for my father with crackling cornbread. He really loved this. The stew was made with a dark roux just like a beef stew, with onion, bell pepper and garlic. This was served owner white rice.

Hi Nancy, thanks for watching & sharing about your moms stew! We love Crowley & have friends and family close by😍. Yes, I often put turnips in my stews, and especially like them in duck stew. So happy my video brought you fond memories of your parents! I have wild duck in the freezer that needs to be cooked within the next couple of weeks, duck stew with turnips is sounding pretty good! Do you ever make it?

@@ggintennessee my family is sprinkled all over LA. I miss going down there so much. Maybe one day I will make it back there. No I do not make Duck stew…though where I live clams to be the rice & duck capital of the world Lol and so does Crowley. I just never could get over the wild taste. Though I have made a wild rice & duck casserole that is pretty good. It basically is cooked duck( boiled just like you do chicken), cook celery, onion in butter then make a white roux( white cream sauce), with heavy cream and duck broth. Add in some fresh sliced mushrooms and couple boxes of long grain & wild rice( cooked). Add in your deboned duck and combine. Then sprinkle with sliced almonds and fresh parsley. Bake at 350 degrees until hot and bubbly. You can substitute chicken for duck if you do not have any. I use to make this for my ex and his friends when they would come over. Though I think I prefer the duck stew. I love turnips in that rich savory gravy. I have really been craving a seafood gumbo! Where I live people sell a thick gelatinous stuff with more slimy okra than anything else in it. So, I just try buying all the ingredients and make me up a batch and freeze it in containers I might eat for three days…enough to satisfy my craving until next time. Lol. Yes my grandparents lived in Crowley, my Uncle & cousin lives in Rayne, I love Lafayette, my grandfather was from Patterson, and his ancestors discovered Thibodeaux. So my roots and love for LA run deep. Keep up the good job of introducing our way of cooking to everyone! I will be watching and looking forward to it.

I just wanted to say hi! We moved to SWLA 5 years ago due to my husband's job. We sheltered in place for Laura and Delta. Thankfully we made it thru. I am originally from GA and my husband is a Tennessee boy. I really enjoy your videos and learning about authentic Cajun cooking. You do it in a way my family would enjoy!

Oh wow Jennifer, can't believe y'all sheltered in place for the storms! Hopefully y'all aren't too far south. The people we know that stayed and rode out Laura, said never again, it was one of the rougher ones! So thankful to hear y'all were safe. Hopefully y'all didn't endure too much damage either. My husband left San Antonio and headed back to Lake Charles a couple of hrs after the storm hit. He says it was like driving through the movie Jumanji. Unfortunately nothing was salvageable for us.
LA people are amazing and resilient, I'm sure y'all have plenty of newly adopted family and friends! Although we have many loved ones and great friends still in LA, we're very grateful to be finally settling, far away from the hurricanes in TN! I'm so thankful you took the time to introduce yourself, it's great to meet you. I'm sure I can also learn much from y'all about living in Ga & Tn. 😍So happy you found some meal ideas your family will enjoy! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Wow, you're doing fantastic on the pantry challenge to have stayed out of the grocery stores the entire month!!! 🏆 Your gumbo looks amazing! I'm convinced the only way to have zero food waste is to have dogs and chickens. 😍 I've never seen colorful bowtie pasta before,, that's so fun! I knew you were a real Cajun woman when you added a tablespoon of cayenne pepper. Your spice-buds are on point!🌶🌶🌶
