- After James asks Seth MacFarlane about "Family Guy" being on the air for nearly 20 years, Linda Cardellini reminds Seth that she was once cut from an episode and didn't learn about it until she watched the episode on TV. Seth completely remembers and knows why she was replaced. he didn't act surprised or inquisitive as to what she was talking about.
And the look the gave when she said "back then, things didn't come back." You could almost hear him say, "uh, Family Guy did. "

Freaks and Geeks is still one of my favorite shows. I bought it the day it was released on dvd when I was still in high school and I still watch it over and over. It's always crazy seeing all of the cast so young and then watching something else and seeing them at their current age. Can't believe it has been 20 years already.

Whenever I see this woman I just really like her. She looks like she'd really be fun to work with. And it was interesting to see their professional respect for a show of hers that didn't make it. I guess I'm sentimental tonight because that was touching.
Plus, the whole awkward situation was beautiful to watch.

Several American chat show hosts do the same thing. I know they have to keep things flowing but it's almost like they're counting the words and when they reach a certain amount they cut in, irrespective of what's being said.

Seth was spot on. Freaks and geeks might not have been the show it could have been, but it really started a genre... Not many shows can say that...
Such injustices in the world of tv.. Freaks and Geeks never returned but we get ten seasons of Big Bang Theory 😳😳

Executives almost always fuck shit up. Twin Peaks was also ruined by it.
Hard to believe she was fired. Her voice work on Robot Chicken was great. The Scooby-Doo/Friday the 13th mashup was hilarious, especially the end credit sequence with Seth Green.

Freaks and Geeks was like the Avengers of comedy actors. Linda, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel. I watched it a couple years ago and it easily became one of the best shows I've seen on Netflix.

Fallon just never feels genuine...I don't think he's AS bad as Fallon in that aspect, but he just comes across that way a bit. And it could just be how I see him, I'm not sure...
Freaks and geeks truly was a great show with an amazing cast wished it ran longer than it did

It's possibly that, sometimes actors don't work out the way they want. Although, if she had people around to see it, that means she was expecting to be in it, so she at least did the work and got paid. Which means she wasn't fired, she was either cut or the dialogue was replaced. She used the wrong term, not that it really matters.
I like Cardelilni, but see her as more of an actress for drama. Maya Rudolph is probably better at comedy.
They have made like 1000 episodes of that series. And it was obviously a long time ago. It would not surprise me if he has no recollection.

And 10-to-1 that the "Maya Rudolph" joke had something to do with it (i.e. SHE was the replacement).
Guys like Seth MacFarlane never forget these sort of things. If you pay enough attention you can see he was just about to say something like "was it when...?" or "was it for ...?" or something like that...but then he changed his mind when they didn't allowed him to speak right after her (probably thought "better being funny than to incriminate myself" LOL). And _conveniently_ he then decided to compliment her and Freaks & Geeks. He was so transparent IMO. It was hard to watch.

Seth is right. Freaks and Geeks was the blueprint for dramatic comedy. The network put that show on a time slot on Friday or Saturday night where it was destined to fail because it's audience wouldn't be home to watch. That show also was the birthplace of some major careers.

Loved every single episode of “Freaks and Geeks.” Hated the way it was cancelled. That was MY show! I was Sam Weir growing up. I even asked my dad for an Atari and he said, “An A-what-i?” just like in the show! Great Scott I loved that show!
