They must have listened.. My MPR 6.5 creedmoor will reset the trigger in April 2022, Even if I try to force a fail with pressure. You had me worried for a second,Thank you.
I purchased a MPR in 6.5 Creedmoor. Here is a list of the problems that I encountered. The muzzle break was mis-timed so it was cockeyed on the barrel. The rail is out of mil specs so only certain types of scope rings will fit. Vortex precision rings when mounted and torqued to spec had wobble in them. Night force rings fit tightly. At first I thought the rings were bad but I tried them on five other rails and they worked perfectly.I had to bed the rail because it was off enough to were it flexed the rail too much when screwed all of the way down. This could lead to unnecessary pressures placed on the scope of you don’t lap your scope rings, which can lead to tracking issues. Their customer services was very good. And the gun does shoot a .5” 5 shot group at 100 yds. I do love the gun though, I just wished these issue didn’t happen with my gun.
I’m getting a .338 in two months and was heavily eyeing this or the savage 110 elite, I want this more bcuz of the lighter weight but the comments have me concerned, glad to know it’s seems to be working fine tho
So one of the primary functions of this $2,000+ rifle doesn't work and that is supposed to be okay by the manufacturer? What was the turn around time for this gunsmithing?
My question is how did they allow a 2500 $ gun out the factory this way, Someone failed at their job in the Quality Control dept, how annoying. Sending it, waiting to recieve it after spending that kind of money. Youre a man of patience
Who in Alaska do you recommend fixing your rifle? I have a 6.5PRC shooting 3in groups. I’m in anchorage and just want to take it somewhere to have it repaired.
just got an MPR in 6.5 SPC, there is little to no visible movement backwards of the bolt when I cycle the action. Maybe a couple thousandths tops. It' really doesn't move. I'll shoot and test and see if I get any issues for sticking cases when I load.
I want one of these so bad! On paper it nails all my requirements. It does seem like CA has QC issues though! I've also heard CA customer service isn't the best.
If factory ammo is sticking too the bolt is miss timed or their is a problem with the chamber of your rifle. Send it in and let them look at it and fix it.
Hello...thanks for the info. I have a chance to buy one of these in 300 win mag, would you buy this or a Savage 10/110 Elite Precision 300 Win? Which one do you think would be more accurate?
Is that for a new MPR or a used one? All steel barrel on the MPR or carbon fiber? They would both make excellent rifles. And they should both be sub moa. They are both made by reputable companies that stand behind their products. The MPR will be a much lighter rifle. Thats a double edge sword though. Lighter weight is nicer to carry but usually less stable while shooting. Weight increases stability while shooting. But sucks if you want to hunt with it. Will this be a range rifle only? Are you planning on hunting with it? If you are going to be hiking with it I would get the MPR. If you want to shoot unsupported I would get the MPR. If it's range only off a bench or bipod save the money and buy a Savage 110/100 elite. Another option and I cannot believe I am saying this is a Remington magpul enhanced in 300 win mag. I found one on gun deals the other day for $630 or so and decided to risk it. It is a superb rifle. Ceracoat finish instead of the crappy finish Remington usually uses. Oversized bolt handle, decent stock, threaded barrel, and 5r rifling. I have had some bad experiences with model 700s not having scope base holes drilled straight and bolts being missed timed. This rifle is the best sample of a model 700 I have seen in 15 years. Just bed the recoil lug area with some devcon and you are going to have a very accurate rifle. Just giving you ideas and some things to consider. I hope this helps.
@@TheFullNeilson Hello and thanks for the response. I know there's some real jack-wagons on YT ruffing you up about stuff. Sometimes I'm the one doing that...LOL. Great information and so very well explained. Man that answers lots of questions I have regarding my Christensen ELR in 338 and why it won’t extract most of the cases (factory ammo)
Sir, would you explain it to us what is the issues with your 300 win mag after Christensen Arms fixed your riffle because i just bought CA MPR 300 win mag too Really appreciate it
So after sending in the rifle the first time the rifle would not shoot even close to sub moa. It averaged groups of 2-3 inches depending on ammo. The best group I got was 1.5 inches. So I sent it back a second time. They verified my findings and replaced the barrel, action, and bolt. Now it shoots 1/2-3/4 moa. I like the rifle design and now that they have delivered on the quality that should be their from the factory I am happy with both rifles. I do think they did right by me. My only reservation is that the initial quality control of what they are sending out the door seems to be all over the place. Hope this answers your question. Have a nice day.
Thank you so muuucch for your answer, because i just bought this rifle and on the way ship to FFL and i love the design of CA MPR and this will add my collection
The only fair comparison would be to other Remington 700 clones or a Remington 700. The other rifle comparisons are irrelevant. Designs are different and different designs have more or less primary extraction etc.
Hey I am sorry but I went to reply to one of your other comments and I accidently removed it. I am a big fan of masterpiece arms chassis. I have used a variety of other chassis and they are the most comfortable to me. They make a hybrid and ba lite chassis which is what I would use if I were building my own rig and trying to keep the weight reasonable. I also like the KRG bravo chassis. They are pretty reasonable in price and also pretty light. The barrel you throw on your rifle will be what affect the balance and weight more than just about anything. I hope this helps good luck. Thank you for this update! I purchased a MPR in 338 Lapua, issues I have with mine is: the handguard countersink holes being over countersink on one side and under countersink on the other. Bottom 4 look good. Fitting of handguard to chassis looks hand done and not square (gap), and originally the handguard was not centered, however when loosening the screws and re tightening them the handguard would be centered enough to not notice visually an offset. Loose stock when in the locked position (not folded) Pitted barrel Bolt timing (sticky bolt with factory GMM 250 and 300 grain about 80% of the time) Sharp bolt knob Super heavy trigger (personal opinion) Bolt timing is horrible and after I sent pictures in to Christiensen of the pitting they told me it will smooth out over time. (I took offense to this because pitts don't smooth out, they will get worse, in addition the barrel copper fouls like none other. After cleaning copper you can see copper spots, then when you get the rest out you can see the pitts). And I haven't seen this thing shoot sub moa as of yet. I've invested half of a new barrel ($500 80 rounds) just to see if it will smooth out, 338 lapua is not cheap and pitting of any kind from a new barrel is unsat!
I am sorry to hear that. I sure hope mine shoots sub moa or I will be one unhappy customer. I will say that I never strip copper from the bore of my rifles. I have found with every rifle I have owned they shoot better fouled. I will clean out the carbon build up every 150 rounds or so but I leave the copper.
I have not heard of a single issue with the short action MPR rifles. I would not recommend any of the long action MPR rifles right now. My 300 win mag is a mess. I will be making a follow up video on it at a later date. If weight is a big factor purchase an MPR. If weight is a none issue buy a Tikka.

If there is enough primary extraction to cycle the rifle easily and smoothly I will be happy with it the way it is. If there's not enough not I will talk to Christensen Arms or send my bolt off to accutig and get it fixed. Then I will be happy.
