This woman is the aunt that picks you up from school on a motorcycle.
After she had at least a half dozen bits of face work. The before and after pictures are quite sad
she reminds me so much of my aunt who'd pick me & my brother up from school in her convertible while smoking cigarettes lol she just has the vibe
This is the aunt that bails you out without telling your mother
@@decadencewhimsyandsarcasm She's the one you call drunk as hell at a party because you are too afraid to call home, she's got a cover story prepared by the time you get home.
@@dannytheman1313 Yes. I feel so seen.
Can't believe this is Natasha's first time hosting SNL, she is comedy gold and native New Yorker, she fits all the criteria to be the greatest host. Weird that it took so long for them to finally invite her to the show.
Let's be THANKFUL that it FINALLY HAPPENED.
Oh wow! I thought she was on here when she was a kid or a teen? Huh! Wow! Yea can't believe it either.
B list on a good day
@@michaeljordan6008 You wish you were on the W list
Ikr!!
"Knock-Knock, Who's There? Multiple arrests and drug addiction." Only a very self-aware and grounded person can laugh at their past in front of literally millions. One of the best monologues of the season!!! Nicely Done!!
Her honestly is one of the things that's so powerful about her. She wears it all on her sleeve. So people can see for who she is. She is wonderful, charming and funny. But she's also struggled with mental illness, addiction etc. And all that makes her genuinely kind. Even in her monologue she tries to be motivating. Cause she feels if she can do it others can too. And it's true.
I am and know a bunch of recovering addicts- you know we're still sober when we joke about what we've been through.
@@thejoshpresle Agreed! I'm coming up on 11 years. At a certain point in recovery, you begin to see the hilarity in the craziness. I guess it's kind of a coping mechanism. Like when something is so cute you want to squeeze it super hard but in our case, when something is super morbid so you laugh about it.
@@sarahcoletti6946 If you've never heard of him you may like a comedian named Mark Lundholm. His whole act is based on past substance use and the crazy things we all say and do while we're zooted, strung out, drunk, or just plain messed up. He's kinda boomerish, but it's tolerable. I've shown his set to 30+ treatment residents multiple times and it's the only thing I've ever seen to get them to sit still and pay attention consistently. Humor is the best therapy, imo.
@@thejoshpresle I have! Back when I still used to attend Narcathons and Dances and other program functions it was common to either listen or watch his sets! I haven't thought about him in awhile though and I'm about to look him up on RUclips so thank you for the reminder! And congrats on your recovery, I hope you continue laughing! 💖
Good for her. Her life was in ruin years ago, and she did a Robert Downey Jr and turned it around. Stay strong.
Agreed. I honestly had no idea who she was, but I'm impressed by her story.
@@DS-rt1ed She's be in quite a few movies you'd probably recognize her in. Orange is the New Black is most popular though.
@@jonny-b4954 she was also in dennis the menace american pie detroit rock city
that's really funny too cause they have the same birthday
I also learned there is always hope in despair, mainly from the book of Job and from Bane in The Dark Knight Rises... yep. True story 😉
Natasha has such a fantastic personality and charisma. I'm glad they gave her such a fun showcase for a monologue. She's like an old raucous comic from the '40s or '50s in the body of an '80s screen goddess.
No I'm going 70s filmstar or chain smokin 70s rock n roll chick
Lol that's such a good description
Great description. Felt like she was channeling a little Rodney Dangerfield and a little Phylis Diller maybe.
i love her sm
Katherine Hepburn or Gene Tierney meets glam rock. You described it perfectly!
Old cast member pop-ups never get old. It makes me feel nostalgic.
She's the type of person you'd be proud to be related to. Love her energy and honesty about what she has been through. If you haven't watched Russian Doll, you should! It's fantastic.
Never watched the show but just googled her show and will after watching her opening. Yes, Love her personality and energy… and the 80s! Lol
@The Majority Speaks And director/ producer. Gotta love her.
It’s like I am watching SNL in 1985. Please have her back once every season.
Second half of season ten or first half of season 11?
She's gotta become a part of the five timers club!
I felt like that, too. She’s straight outta the 80’s.
She looks incredible. I kinda love how Fred is there supporting her post-breakup. She’s an amazing actress and I love her voice.
It shows they ended on a good note. I’m happy for her
Her voice is so sexy.
So is her attitude/demeanor.
She's just attractive all around. Beautiful lady.
I always thought she was doing a character, but I guess that's who she really is.
That's a pure-blooded New Yorker accent right there. Didn't even let living in other places water it down.
Usually actors are cast for how their real personalities are. At least that's what I understood from listening on how they cast actors for different movies/shows.
Haha me too at first. But she's really just like that. Chaotic extrovert.
I thought the same until I saw her interview when Orange is the New Black came out. She did NOT talk like that in the first movie I saw her in so I always assumed the accent was just something fun she did for her characters. Now it's great to go back and see her hide it lol I'm sure it's not an easy one to drop.
When the audience clapped and cheered hard at the but I’m a cheerleader reference and the last part of the monologue about her getting back up from her rough past made me restore my faith in humanity. I’m glad she is back!
as someone who also is a recovering addict to see her bounce back from rock bottom is inspirational so happy for her
This woman has won my heart since “Dennis the Menace” (quite a nostalgic role), “American Pie”, “But I’m a Cheerleader”, and many others.
She was in Dennis thw Menace??
Awe she didn't mention Slums of Beverly Hills

I mostly know her from Russian doll (the Netflix show) she's a great actor in that I recommend it!
And that's how you do a monologue! I was wondering if Fred would randomly pop up and he did! She even mentioned "But I'm a Cheerleader" an important film way ahead of its time! Also, Maya Rudolph's Natasha Lyonne impression is spot on! 10 out of 10!
I love her voice.

Harry Styles must be so jealous of that outfit.
@@goinggoinggone535 that’s just her accent-
I wondered for so long why Natasha Lyonne hadn't yet been on SNL, given all her friendships... and WOW what an awesome monologue! Big up to Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph for their impressions, truly captured a momentous opportunity.
I admire how honest she is.
Natasha Lyonne has been a big celebrity crush of mine for ages now, such a cool person. Have loved her work ever since But I'm A Cheerleader

She's got that raspy/sultry voice. I love it!
Smoker voice

Natasha, that was actually inspiring. Thank you. Having trouble with the road for a while now, but maybe I can find it.
I discovered her in orange is the new black. She definitely had a second win in her career with this hit show running several seasons.
I love her outfit. She looks like a scratchy-voiced super hero.
She looks more like the forgettable mugger that the superhero stops in act 1
@JG maybe she could be the next vulture
There was an ad on the internet advertising both Russian Doll’s new season and The Batman on HBOMax simultaneously. It had Pattinson’s Batman in front of a collage poster of Lyonne . I actually got excited before reading and thought they had cast her as Posion Ivy for the sequel.
Freddie Mercury needs his outfit back... But not really.
@JG her raspy voice, the hair and the bodysuit are giving me major Rogue vibes
Loved her since BUT I'M A CHEERLEADER 💕😍🔥
💯SAME!!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I fell in love with Natasha Lyonne after seeing her in "The Slums of Beverly Hills", it's a great coming-of-age dark comedy - now it's considered a cult classic.
Natasha's drug addiction caused complications that almost killed her. So seeing her now, in her artistic prime, makes it all the sweeter.
Also I love, despite breaking up, Fred and her are still good friends.
Gotta get the good zip codes haha
Woah I didn't know they were broken up. That's actually so cool that they're still good friends. Signs of really cool people.
Thank for all the info♡
Great movie!!!
I was kinda surprised that Slums didn't get a mention in her monologue.
She’s such a legend. Have loved her since American Pie.
@Mr. Bongs BurgH She's the friend of Tara Reid's character

Yup! For a hot second, but that was not a happy coupling lol, at least Fred and Natasha are still friends.
i cannot put into words how much i loved this.....got me smiling the whole time, both funny and sweet!
Those of us out here who are also in recovery are loving these recovery-inspired monologues this season .Hers and John Mulaney's were great to hear. It's especially powerful to see that someone can be so funny and interesting without using anything.

I would love to see her and Christopher Walken in conversation!
"A little orphan Annie type who sounds like Dee Dee Ramone" is spot on!
Perfect New Yawk reference

Surprised no recognition for her role in Orange is the New Black! She killed that role!
“Recognition” is a funny word choice, it’s her own monologue lol. But to be fair she did say she glossed over entire decades…

I love Natasha Lyonne. She’s like the spirit of NYC took human form. The Holy Trinity. NYC, Natasha, Statue of Liberty
Natasha killed it here. Her voice and looks are equally riveting and sexy as hell. I was introduced to her in ‘The Slums of Beverly Hills’
Still one of my favorite movies ever! It's my go-to whenever I'm sick and need to veg out while the Nyquil does its job.

I was introduced to her with Russian Doll. Absolutely such a great show and hope it gets a season 3. Killed it in her monologue and excited to see how she kills it tonight 😊
She looks like someone who begins every sentence with "But seriously"
The kid that was in the Pee Wee's Playhouse clip with Natasha is actor Shaun Weiss from the Mighty Ducks. He was in pretty bad shape on drugs a few years ago here in Northern California. But now I heard he's doing good and over 2 years sober. Good for him.

Usually I could give two shits about a celebrity that got their life together, but as someone that knows Natasha primarily from American Pie and having heard the stories about some of the pits she's been in...
You did it. You went from the street, to a penthouse, to a gutter and back to the penthouse.
Not many people have the personal strength or even sheer luck to pull that hirewire act off. Even though I'll never know you, I respect the journey.
Don't fuck it up. Some 40-year old idiot is pulling for ya.
It is astounding to me with her many years in the business, and many iconic roles, that this is her first time hosting.
Great monologue
Why is Maya Rudolph wearing my Gramms tablecloth?
Can't believe they just broke up after 8 years but they're doing the show together
They remained friends
@dayeeoliver - My best friend is the man I was with for 2 years and almost married. We are now married to other people, but still love each other and the 4 of us have fun together.
But I'm a Cheerleader is still so iconic tbf
I love that she mentioned But I'm a Cheerleader. That was my favorite movie growing up.
I absolutely love this woman. He amateur detective affectionate nod to the late, great Peter Faulk is a joy to watch in "POKER FACE" . "RUSSIAN DOLL" is a trip and a half, a really good time with this "cat lady" of infinite lives. Keep them coming Nat, you on fire!

Eh the show's been fine without Pete.
Their departures are all depressing except for Pete’s
I liked Natasha Lyonne before it was cool to like her. It’s my biggest flex. She was in my fave movie Slums of Beverly Hills. I followed her career and during her addiction I remember posting her on my MYSPACE and knowing she would make a come back! So happy to see this !!!!
Fun fact - Maya Rudolph introduced Fred & Natasha. They're all truly family!
Love her since "But i'm a Cheerleader" 😍
She’s nailing this Jimmy Durante impression. Unfortunately, it’s completely lost on 99 percent of the audience.
They're too busy looking for the lost chord
I loved both seasons of Russian Doll equally. One was based on ‘ground hog’s day’ scenario.
The next season was to do with quantum time, parallel dimensions.
So damn good! And what a great actress. Great!
Absolutely! Great actress, great writer, great director. I love that show.
_That voice of hers, is captivating. Awesome actress though. And, Russian Doll is worth watching!_ 💯💯

It’s odd how I never realised until this episode of SNL that she sounds so scarily similar to Estelle from friends though 😳
