First podcast where Cyrus is in awe and lets the guest speak more than he spoke himself; What great stories of absolute legends who embodied the idea of "Gentleman's Game"

Talking about Tiger Patuadi and he umpiring festival matches. This was televised on DD. Not sure if you remember Tiger once standing as a leg umpire this time, ball played towards him, not sure what he was thinking, he fielded the ball, picked up with one hand and just hurled at the strikers end, knocking down the stumps! Just one stump he could aim at!!! This was probably mid 90s, he mustn't have touched a cricket ball for maybe 2 decades till that point!!! Talk about muscle memory!!! GENIUS

30.32 Cyrus trying to scare Amit by saying “today everything leaks also so we don’t know how these things come back to haunt you” is the best

Good one, loved all the anecdotes from that era. For newcomers that liked this one and are cricket fans go check out PR Man Singh and Farokh Engineer in previous episodes . Those few rare ones where Cyrus lets the guests talk 😉

In reality Sunny and Tiger didn't get along too well. Sunny had once threatened to sue Sportsworld about a fanciful story they did on him when Tiger was its editor. In Sunny's narration about Mr Mathur' story, there is no mention of Tiger smiling - he simply walked away, and one can imagine how Sunny must have felt.

I stopped liking cricket since the turn of the millennium as it has become so commercial and off putting over the past 2 decades! And no other sport was given its due in India. However, watching Cyrus’s podcasts on cricket, makes me want to listen and participate as his love for it is pure. His knowledge is extensive and his sheer enthusiasm and passion is a delight to watch. These podcasts remind you of the time when cricket was a “gentleman’s game”. Kudos, Cyrus. I wouldn’t mind at all watching any number of your cricket podcasts with the old timers or fellow enthusiasts such as yourself.
