  • We head out on a 100 nautical mile round trip and complete our first costal hop.
We left from Ipswich marina and headed down the river Orwell and out to the North Sea. We hugged the coast and made our way round to the River Blackwater and finally stopped at an anchorage in Osea Island.
We encountered NO wind and thick fog on the way there and had some great sailing on the return leg. It was a little chilly to say the least and Charlie felt a little queasy after sticking her head in a bilge to find something whist it was bumpy... Not a good idea.. but we are still learning.
We also had a buddy boat 'Sleepy Shores' with us although the fog meant we lost them as soon as we got to the sea and spent a wonderful night with Caz and Nev. I cooked a Iberico Pork chop, mustard mash and veg with an onion Jus and chocolate fondants for desert...
We had an amazing time and learnt a ton...
Hope you enjoy the trip with us.
Please don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe if you havent already.
    Thank you
    Carl & Charlie x

I know it’s very handy to have a boat filming next to you… think I need to buy a drone to get some of these shots.

Probably not much to be gained by poling the Genoa out the same side as the main- as you discovered!

Absolutely, it just blanked it! Wing on wing was a much better option, although much rockier.

Headlands always are a bit bumpier. Spend off watch time horizontal not to feel🤢🤮 whilst you warm up. Fair dues sailing in cold weather. My husband WON'T sail this time of year he's a hot house flower.

Absolutely, Charlie is normally ok but just went down at the wrong time. I know she’s a gooden… I love it and don’t feel the cold so much so very lucky!

Do you know what has happened to SV Sleepy Shores? Nothing on AIS for over 18 months

Yes, they are in Portland Marina still living on Sleepy Shores. Both doing great and have a bulldog now called Popeye!
Kaz and Nev are both on Facebook with updates regularly 👍
