What i realized after so many years of inner work is that we feel feel insecure first and then look for a reason to feel insecure about, I feel ashamed first and then I look for something to feel ashamed of , so its never the thing we feel ashamed of, its never the the thing I'm insecure about, is just the fact that im insecure that my brain look for a reason then to feel insecure about ( evidence) great topic.❤
I just want to say you are all so young still, and I just wish I could go back and shake myself sometimes! ❤You are all beautiful, if you feel confident people will see you that way when you’re young. Take care of your health number 1! I can’t say that enough. 2 In your mid thirties and onward you will want to know you didn’t waist any time hiding yourself away in insecurities. So please don’t waist your young years worrying about how you look bc I bet you’re beautiful in your unique way and that’s better than someone who looks like everyone else or someone who hides bc they’re insecure 😟.
i think another reason why keeping yourself healthy teaches you how to love yourself is because you're focusing on yourself. not other people, so you naturally get comfortable with yourself as you evolve. the best cliche advice ever is to just focus on you.
i’ve been waiting so long for a fellow black girl to make a talking video while doing their hair. it can feel so isolating and overwhelming to sit there for long periods of time doing my hair. but i don’t always want a hair tutorial and want to hear from black women who are investing the same time in their hair. this feels so comforting
Love this so much! Whenever I start to feel insecure , I remind myself that my body should be the least interesting thing about me. I’m so much more than what I look like ❤
So many gems in this video!! I love what you say about comparison. Also that people will grow to accept you if you accept yourself. I used to always feel like I had to wear makeup to meet friends for brunch or whatever, and I remember meeting this one friend who would never wear makeup, and it always made me feel insecure. But as time has gone by, I'm now also like 'oh I don't have to wear makeup when I go out and about if I don't want to'. The fact that she just accepted who she was & did what she wanted then inspired me to do the same. It's so cool how we can learn from others. And how like you say we can notice our own reactions to things and analyse why we might be reacting a certain way.🧡Thank you!!🧡🧡
Listening to this while doing my skincare routine is the most therapeutic and healing feeling there is 🥰 something about sisterhood is just so powerful thank you babe 💜
Thank you so much for this! I struggle with self-image a lot and in every area of my life from appearance to abilities. literally everything. And I think the biggest thing that has helped my confidence is recognizing myself as a human being. looking at the way that I breathe how My Body Works, how animals in general work and seeing how so many beauty trends just don't make any sense for that and don't have your best interest at heart at all.
something thats helping me is acknowledging my body type! i dont look good in high waisted jeans either because i have a very short torso and long legs, so it makes me look like i have 0 torso. but when i dress in things that elongate my torso, it makes my body appear much more balanced! for example either a full length or a super cropped shirt with mid-low rise pants. its important to experiment and find what looks good on you and what doesnt really flatter you.
I really wanna say that this channel has truly helped me change the way I view things and make myself better, so thank you very much because this way with words you have to help people is really amazing 💕
You are always so relatable, real and authentic when you speak to us Elicia. I always feel like I can connect with you and with the experiences you share. Thank you for continuing to provide such warm guidance and to share those honest parts of yourself and your own journey! You are amazing and inspiring! :) I love your videos.
This video hit home :( lately feel so insecure about my body and nose. I don’t even find the motivation to go work out bc I feel like it’s pointless. I’ve gained so much weight. ANYWAY you look so cute! Would love to see you do space buns with your curls in one of these vids 🥰🤍
Thanks for this Elicia. What you said about body types looking better in different styles resonates. I began studying Kibbe Body IDs a couple years ago and it has been an absolutely game changer. Before that I assumed if something didn’t look good it was because I was overweight or my body was wrong. Now I understand deeply what works for me and what doesn’t and I feel so much more confident. I hope for all women to develop an understanding of what flatters their unquote and beautiful body.
Wow thank you for clarifying just to keep doing the best you can do for yourself. Keep it up and maintain. Like you said literally take of yourself. Mind body soul spirit, skin, aura, belongings, communities, ideologies even and values but again I think that goes into mind.
Often times more beautiful people or more successful people have worse daily life than someone pretty much normal. Its difficult to have absolutely everything in life
I love this because I’ve always wondered what I truly look like because in the mirror I look amazing could model etc but pictures on the other hand don’t look like the mirror and it’s so confusing
so i read this on pinterest, and it says: You are not ugly, you are lazy. Let's say you are a 4/10, you take care of your body (gym, more food your body needs, water) - now you are a 5/10. Then you start taking care of your skin and have a routine, get your skin and hair glowing - now you are a 6/10. Then you fix your financials, are you in any debt, do you have a job, did you pay your bills? Let's say you deal with that - now you are a 7/10. What about your education? Your goals? The way you respect others? There is so many things to do to work on ourselves, and yet you do the easy, lazy thing, you try to people please... and ever since i take my own time and space as a bigger priority over other peoples opinions and needs i hope it inspires someone else as well
The worst thing is when you're trying your best to take care of your health, but your body (skin, lips, hair, digestion etc.) just doesn't cooperate or give back. That's when l feel the most drained and defeated. You start wondering what is wrong with your body and why are you even trying..
That’s a good indicator to look deeper, in my opinion. Doctors? Becoming resourceful and researching professionals who speak on different health issues that you might be struggling with? I think it’s a very big act of self love to not get mad at your body for not being healthy. I get that it’s hard because I’ve had many health issues, but the healthiest thing that I could’ve ever done for myself was love myself through the process and continued to be a lifelong learner, which eventually helped me heal.
@@eliciagoguen yes thank you, l am going to the doctors and researching myself, but so far no luck. It's a long and hard process to get to the root cause, you have to be patient and believe. It's just that l feel so fatigued and unattractive during this and like my life is on hold and l'm missing things (like finding love e.g.).
Are you 1995?! Just curious, as I’ve never seen anyone my age (27 years born ‘95) on RUclips and it’s amazing to find resonance in someone my age ❤❤❤❤❤
How did you take care of yourself when you started being on your own, when you didn't have "real" mother or parents who were there for you. Sorry for odd question but that is my story and I feel this hole/ trauma because of that and now in my early 20s I feel as if I'm a child and fear, I am capable but I still have this trauma and you were (and still are) making lots of money
I became resourceful. If you’re on your own, you have no other choice but to do that. I made sure to always be working through college, I had discipline and made sure to get up and take care of my responsibilities. I made sure to research, read books and listen to podcasts that taught me about health, wellness, finances and quite frankly anything I felt I didn’t know. I saved my money and put it towards therapy. I made sure to always be asking questions when I had them. I made sure to choose my friends as wisely as I could. Obviously it wasn’t smooth sailing and not everything or everyone in my life was perfect, but I feel like when you’re in the situation I was in, you have no other option but to move into survival mode and make shit happen. I never gave myself that option to give up, and I still don’t. That’s a non starter for me. Because giving up meant that my life would look like the lives around me and I never wanted that (Addicts, financially unstable, unhealthy). I made sure to get the help I needed and stoped looking at myself as if I was a victim. Not saying you are btw!! Also, something that helped me throughout the process was reminding myself that no matter what, even if I had parents who were different, I would still need to go through this process of growing up into adulthood. We all need to learn how to do things on our own, heal, make our own money, create our own individual lives.
Thank you for making this, also I noticed yesterday I was looking in the mirror and I felt insecure, but then I looked closer and i looked beautiful, the only reason I feel insecure is my hair and body, but I watch videos of girls that are a little chubby which I am little chubby, and they look so confident and then I realize I can be that to, also I’m going to the store to get stuff to make me feel better and more comfortable in my body and skin, again thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
