- The term PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulator and PWMs can be used as variable power supples, voltage controllers, and signal generators. While these 3 these things are using the same concept they are used for different applications and knowing which one works for which application should save you some time and money.

I used an Arduino for the pwm to drive the board on my lathe conversion. It also allowed for a tach with an led display to be run on the same Arduino. The Arduino does require some programming and I will possibly use a more plug n play pwm when I do my bandsaw.
Lots of people have used Arduino and are very happy with it. Glad it worked well for you.
any leads on setting the duty cycle and frequency setting for the MiOYOOW generator found on Amazon, ebay and featured above. The brief and vague instructions may as well have been in Mandarin. I couldn't set either as per the online information.

The PWM - there are many different models on e-bay. I would like to order one. I have a computer from a treadmill, 2100-12 with transformer and choke built in. I just built a bench grinder using a treadmill motor. Which PWM should I buy?

Pwm modulates the WIDTH of the pulses (aka duty cycle), not the speed of them
Your correct, I simplified it for the sake of the video. The purpose was to compare the types, not go over the technical function, but I really appreciate the correction, it should help those that need more technical information.
I believe the frequency setting (1Hz - 150Hz) on the MiOTOOW PWM device featured is the speed controlling function? The duty cycle controls what percentage of any given cycle will have the power pulse. The pulse width widens or narrows pending frequency as amplitude increases or decreases. I could be wrong and it wouldn't be for the first time either.
There's a big difference between simplification and just plain wrong. If you think your audience are too simple minded to understand PWM you really ought to consider whether you should be encouraging them to play with mains electricity.
