  • We removed a beehive out of a tree that had blown over after a large blow. The hive had been there many years as was evident by the stain at the entrance.

The propolis at the entrance, they build it up in the wintertime to close off the entrance moreso when need be if it's cold, then open it up more when it's summertime for more bees to come in.
Such a shame that the storm took this old tree down. Amazing how quiet those bees are, considering you're ripping that tree/hive apart. With all them bees, you'll have a spectacular hive Jeff! Good Luck!

Hi Sansa, thank you. It is a shame about that old tree, however in the natural world, that's what happens. The old make way for the young.

What a queen to have such a big have. Glad she is laying eggs now you know it's a very healthy hive. That's a winner. :))
