I have a lot of respect for Fred Obachi Machoka. I interacted with him on another platform, X. We had an interesting and very practical conversation around an odd topic -- school uniforms. He has a good command of the English language. I love the guy. He must have played a substantial role in Kenyans' love for Congolese music. Brother is aging very gracefully.
These stories are sooo good. I'm always intrigued by what happened in 1991. Stories say that Kanda Bongo Man was so enamored by a Kenyan lady called Wahito, that he wrote a song with that name. But powers that be prevented him from entering Kenya. By the time he was able to come back to Kenya after Kibaki's win in 2002, Wahito was already married to a Kenyan politician/businessman. I also loved the story of how Kando Bongo Man randomly came up with his song Inde Moni. He was performing in a Kenyan bar in Washington DC, US. The owner insisted that he performs one more song even though he was extremely tired and his band had started packing up their equipment. When he came back on stage, he started singing "Inde" (go slow) to a drunk Togolose reveller in the audience, Monica.
Machokaa unajaribu sana sanitize Kanda Bongoman sema tu ukweli ikutoke kwa roho. Kijana wa Cathrene ana fanana sana na Gideon. Moi Machokaa naona uki wachwa kwa mataa on this story.
Just a question, how old were you when that incident occurred? I am saying so, because at that time I was working for NIS & I have uploaded the story on my RUclips and my account exonerated Kasavuli! So, your eyes are more powerful than Intelligence reports at Nyati house at that time. I close my case!
