What don't people understand that the ST is a fair bit lighter than the RS. The pre facelift 3 door ST for example is AT LEAST 100kg lighter than an RS. That's 220lb imperial, folks. That's quite a lot. If you change the downpipe and cat, uprate the intercooler and then remap the ST, you'll definitely get over 280bhp and 320lb/ft torque across a wider range. Figures comparable to a stock RS, but with a better torque spread and less weight. What do you think is gonna happen.......? A mapped ST boosts huge torque earlier, faster, and for longer so the fact it weighs a very large fat man less makes it considerably quicker as shown here.
The rs has a bigger turbo and stronger internals , the st has more torque due to less spool time , but get a bigger turbo and rs clutch a st can beat modded rs , there both great cars as it stands 7k to 11k for a st or 20to 35k it's a no brainer st225 all the way
Tunned St will be better than Rs stocked becouse u can buy better tunning parts now to improve power on it than stocked Rs have. technology moves forward :)
They will. It's not too difficult because the ST is a bit lighter and remaps generally liberate more torque than the stock RS has, perfect for rolling drags. In gear rolling a remapped ST is faster than an RS and even cars that are generally a lot faster like the 330ci just because they can have beserk torque. You need the RS clutch though.....
