      Miles, you have raised the bar. I despise the way individuals attempt to explain subjects inside of this thing we call internet marketing. BUT MILES, you are the truth! You teach the way I teach, I'm going to tell you, and then show you what I'm saying. I like to say that I'm the master of trapping information inside of your head. And sir thats what you have done for me inside of these series of videos. Thank you! I'm very interested in seeing the material inside of your membership site.

      That is fantastic to hear! If I gave you hope today, that is a GREAT DAY! I'm a new subscriber, a web guy and have never thought about sales funnels etc. Even the facebook ad targeting, I have never touched. Facebook ads always tanked for me, mounting to a massive waste of money. TodayI placed a targeted ad using your techniques in other videos, and I have over 40 likes in one day on my facebook page for well under $10. Amazing. Your videos really have been the missing link in all of this for me. I also recently took myself off of meds with diabetes and I want to create a sales funnel for a "how I did it" course. Maybe for a free plus shipping, with optional addons. More than this, I am a high school teacher who teaches graphic arts. I want to show my kids how all of this works, as it really is all related. Continued success and thank you!

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад +1

      Wow... that is the best comment ever right there. To think I'm able to help you and inspire you to share some of these ideas with your students! #Honored
      That is the ripple effect in action, right there... Thanks for sharing.
      It was in highschool for me that I started fiddling with these websites and really building bulletin board systems before there were web based browsers...
      Not many way-showers for me in the 90's.... Good on ya for thinking about how to share some real content that can help your students get the skills that are truly valuable in this day and age!
      You sir are a hero.

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit 7 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much Miles. I certainly try... In July I begin a 1 man from NJ to Seattle Washington the long way (7500 mile round trip) taking my boat I am currently making on my channel. This is to show my kids, you do not need to be rich, to fulfill your dreams. That a little knowledge goes a long way. To show them that with a dream and a bit of passion, we can accomplish incredible things. By boat is a mini single person electric boat, which ill be towing and meeting my subscribers along the way. Thank you once again for giving me the extra bits of understanding required, to begin monetizing what I know and teach.
      Keep it up! ~ You're my hero ;) Andrew

    great work and very informative! I just happened to stumble on FB ads and It has been by far the best investment i have ever made. Thank you for going in depth. I've noticed the more similar to my audience the ppc goes up.
    I was able to get it down to .04 per engagement but when I go to similar audience it jumped up to .66 to 1.25 and the conversion was terrible. just my .02 and maybe doing it wrong

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      There is a 'sweet spot' between too small of an audience (usually too targeted) and to big of an audience (Too broad) and either direction will cost you more $$$ per conversion... Finding that place in between just takes trial and error, and testing things. I like super-targeted audiences of about 600,000 people and I like to run my campaigns based on 'Conversions' right now... That gets me the best deal. *BUT* every niche can be different and it takes testing to figure out what is best for you and your niche.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      It depends, honestly... Either way works but if you have time break them up into separate ad sets, split test them against each other. This gives you the best data so you know which ones work and which ones don't!

      No real order at this point... I may make a video soon that helps address where to start.

    Hi Miles, thanks for the great video again. Quick question about potential reach for an audience. You prefer 100-300K per Ad Set, however this includes at least one country. What do you recommend the potential reach amount to be for one city? Thanks!

    Hey Miles
    Thanks for your very useful info and effort
    My "Optimisation for ad delivery" shows Post engagement instead of Link clicks
    and "When you are charged" is only showing "Impression" there is no Link clicks (CPC) there is no even the (More option) tabs to choose between CPC and impression, it's only impression by default, so is this the default options in 2018 or what ?
    Thanks a lot

    I have spent hours watching your videos. Love them! One question...and I respect your time so don't want to waste it. I get the audience and insights part but I don't have a massive email list to build a look a like audience? Can I use Facebook ID's? Or what do you suggest to do to cut down on the share numbers in my reach (which is around 5M) and I want to get it supper targeted like you did but i don't have an email list?

      Putting them in the interests when you setup your ads... FB doesn't show all as interests, but that is the game, research them in audience insights, add them to the ad set! Keep researching till you find the ones that are hyper relevant and work!

    HI Miles,
    Great videos. I've set up a "traffic" campaign. I want to pay for "clicks" but it says I need to spend $10 CAD first before that option is available. Right now it's paying for "impresssions" which I don't want. Can you shed some light on this? This is the 1st ad for me so not sure if I did something wrong?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      Sounds like you need to spend $10 before running a clicks campaign... Give it a shot with $10 on CPM and then setup a new clicks based campaign.

    Thanks sooo much Miles! You're a great teacher! I have a rookie question ... In the Optimization & Delivery I can't choose Link Click for 'When You Get Charged" ... FB says I have to first spend $10 in the ad account. Is that changeable later? Also is this Ad Set set up suitable for dark posts? Thanks!!!

    • @MilesB

      Thanks for the kind words....
      Considering I can change the 'when you get charged' setting and have spent over $10, I would say yes... After your first $10 in ad spend that setting should become available to you to change.

    Another excellent video. Please never apologize for making a video too long! This is great stuff. So one question: my goal is to drive traffic to my Teespring page to get sales. I make about $8-12 on each shirt. How much should I spend each day on a campaign? Is there any advantage to spending less but for a longer amount of time. So instead of $10/day for 7 days. $5/day for 14 days? Thanks.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      I prefer less over longer, gives FB more time to find better leads. Find your exact number you make on average from a new customer and that is your number you can spend!

      Thanks--that is tough for low priced item where you only make, like I said $8-$12. I launched a WC/View Content campaign, $8 a day--and getting 17 conversions after one day..I think the theory is to get about 50 conversions before moving to an 'Add to Cart', and eventually a "Website Purchases".

    Hi Miles, you presented the video with great clarity. Thanks so much. However, I have (probably) a stupid question ... on the video, you have set your budget for $30 a day .. is this different from the PPC .85 cents?? You have to pay the .85 cents for every click?? What is that $30/ day for. Thanks for help Miles.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      You are all good with this question... So the $0.85 per click is your 'bid' in an auction setting for each click. The $30/day is the maximum you would spend (on clicks) in a single day. So if they got you the clicks at that price, you would expect about 35 clicks/day.
      I would definitely do lots of research in the audience insights tool (this video shows how) ruclips.net/video/1g17t182OgA/видео.html to find 'smaller and less known interests' that you can use to grow your audience... Because if you find interests that no one else, or very few advertisers, are bidding on, you very well may get a better deal on your cost per click and effectively more clicks for the same $30

    Another great video thanks. I have heard you say never touch the Ad Set once its running but in this video you say if your manual bid is not getting any clicks after the first day you will change to 'Accelerated'? So some certain things can be tweaked in the Ad set if needed?
    Many Thanks

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад +1

      Good call, because the answer is a little nuanced... Don't change the targeting (audience) stuff at all if the ad set is working... That pulls you out of your spot in the auction and re-enters you and can mess things up.
      I let FB run the bidding now, so that switching to accelerated isn't something I need to deal with anymore. The one thing I will do is increase my budget if I'm well within my KPIs to scale the campaigns, but that is really all I tweak on a solid, running campaign.

    • @onesuperiorman
      @onesuperiorman 7 лет назад +1

    I have been watching and re-watching your videos. They are VERY informative and I thank you so much. I have not yet created an ad page because I want to feel comfortable with it before I actually start. The company that I am involved with has a lot of health and beauty products. At this time, I only want to market 1 product which is a "face lift" product that works. You actually see results in the first 30 minutes. Our company has a video on how to apply the product and you see the results. I also have a few pictures of phenomenal results on a man after using the product for 2 and a half months.So far, I have seen ads about people that offer FREE books or FREE video webinars, but do you have a video on actually selling a product and how you set up an ad page? Thank you!

    Hey Miles - great video. I put into practice your instructions on my first fb campaign. Started to get clicks right away. In the Power Editor stats what is the difference between result "link click" and "clicks". Very confusing.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      Right on... way to take action!
      So 'clicks' are when they click on anything clickable within the ad... Say if they clicked over to your fanpage from the ad.
      'Link clicks' are when they actually click through and reach the url you setup in your ad... These are the ones that matter most.

    • @multiphasemarketing2996
      @multiphasemarketing2996 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks Miles. It looks like I'm getting charged for the regular clicks not the link clicks (which are the ones that count). You'd think that b/c I set up for click I'd get charged for actual click not interaction.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      Facebook makes up the rules (and changes them) when they see fit... Logic sometimes doesn't work when trying to figure out FB advertising... lol.
      In the Power Editor, under the ad set level, under 'Optimization and Delivery' look for "Optimization for Ad Delivery" and be sure that is set to "link clicks" if it isn't already.

    Hey Miles, this is really good stuff, thank you for sharing. I do have a question. We are a small non-profit with a pretty specific set of audiences. We are a charity that funds our own breast cancer research and we raise funds through the sport of volleyball. 2 questions for you:
    1. Can these tools and systems work for non-profits not just for getting newsletter sign-ups and website visibility but to actually help us raise money and get folks to participate in our programs?
    2. Does it hurt us that we have 2 very specific audiences: People connected to metastatic breast cancer and people who are connected to the sport of volleyball.
    Thanks so much!
    Rick

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the comment Rick! These techniques can absolutely work for nonprofits… Without a doubt.
      The "how" is a little bit trickier and the biggest question is how much in ad spend will it take for you to get new donations? And whether that number will prove to be a better ROI than direct mail or other types of campaigns? The only way to answer that question is to test.
      Off the top of my head I could see giving away different types of gifts for different donation levels being a great tactic on Facebook… People already use print on demand T-shirts to build for-profit businesses through Facebook pay per click. The trick is coming up with that shirt and design that really speaks to the target and making sure they know that they're making an actual donation and the item is a reward.
      You also have the opportunity to use content to really emotionally tell your story… And your mission.
      Social media is perfect for this kind of content but it takes a fair amount of skills, energy, effort to create it and publish it. With that said maybe there's someone in your local area who would be interested in an internship as a videographer to help you get this message out so they can grow their portfolio.
      2. Having two distinct audiences is definitely benefit because you can test them against each other. Eventually you could see real-world data to know for sure which one of those two audiences offers you a better ROI for your ad spend.
      This kind of a strategy in this kind of a direction to raise funds for nonprofit is not necessarily "the easy path" but it can have very powerful and long reaching results once it's done right. The big question for you is… Is it worth it to invest the time energy resources and money in this direction? I wouldn't go all in in this direction but I think it's worth it, especially if you have someone who is excited about social media marketing on your team.
      Last thing... I would look into Gary Vaynerchuk's ideas around influencer marketing on Instagram. You could potentially find professional volleyball players semi-professional volleyball players who have large reaches and large audiences on Instagram and potentially get them wearing your T-shirt that they could then promote the 'go here to donate and get one' via their Instagram feed.
      #GaryVee has put out a ton of content but he has created a search engine here ask.garyvaynerchuk.com/ that you can type in phrases like: "Instagram", "influencer", "non-profit" etc. and get his take. Dude is quite smart when it comes to influencer marketing and it seems like he believes influencer marketing is a better value than Facebook pay per click right now

    • @digpink
      @digpink 7 лет назад +1

      Raising funds through individuals is not our really our sweet spot. Our sweet spot is getting people to host events and make us the beneficiary. So it is about inspiring them to latch on to one of our programs. We have some pretty good lists as well. Like we have 40,000 individual donors and 10,000 orgs who have participated in our programs. With those lists do you think we can make some magic?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад +1

      Absolutely... If you have their email addresses you can create custom audiences and show ads to them straight away...
      Do you have any emotionally compelling videos about your events and your impact? I think that content is really your key and then 'boosting' that content out to your donors is key... First step reinforce why they are donors.
      Then, you can obviously run ads to promote the 'lets do an event together' concept... But sometimes just putting out the great content to show the impact and reinforce the reasons why they love you is enough to get them to line up to do another event.

    Hey Miles, great video. One thing that has always confused me is when I duplicate "ad sets" in the power editor it also creates duplicate "ads" automatically. What is the best route if I want to duplicate ad sets for different audiences, but still keep the same winning ad on all ad sets? (want to keep same ad with comments, likes, shares, etc for social proof)

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      Go into one of the ads that was duplicated, and there is a little tab that is pre-selected that says 'Create Ad' and next to it, you can see the one that says, 'Use Existing Post' ...Click That.
      Then, notice the link that says Enter Post ID, just enter the post ID of the ad you want to display there. You will need to load the post in your browser to pull the ID... Google how to do that if you need help.
      If for some reason this doesn't work with 'dark posts' meaning ads hidden from timeline (I think it does, but haven't used this function in a while) then you would need to create a live post to run for your ad and you could duplicate it out over and over... But really, I think you can duplicate the exact ad this way, even if it is a dark post.

    Miles quick question. I have been having success with boosting posts (and getting leads) IF I choose a "created audience" that I have built in the edit interests for my boosts (with competitor lead steals vis-a-vis doing the research as you describe.) I've been getting my clicks and conversion cost equivalent and sometimes even better than my direct ads. (I notice they click around other posts in my fan page too) The only draw back is I can't "share" a "created audience" with other accounts unless I get "white listed" by FB then I share across any campaigns or clients. Any thoughts or do you still think I would be better served not to do it? Thx.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

    Hey Miles, I watched another FB training that said impressions actually helped to improve their clickthrough rate and conversions. Have you tested that out yet? Curious as to what you think about that approach.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад +1

      Do you mean running ads where you pay based on impressions?
      There is a trick some people used to teach where you find a very good ad and audience that gets a high click through rate, then you run that ad to the same audience with a CPM based campaign and under bid your CPM.
      Here is the thing tho... The CTR and conversions are always going to be more about the audience, the ad copy and the landing page/sales page copy.
      And the final and most honest answer is... Gotta test! What works in one niche/audience may not work for another. I've tested things friends do successfully and had zero success, before.

      Ya, it copied your ad and made a new one... You may be able to go pull the post ID from your first ad and set up a new ad with that post ID, but I've never done that. If your ad resonated with your audience and you have that same audience on this new one, it'll catch up.
      I've had ads with hundreds of comments and shares that I've turned off, to start new ones... Not really a big deal and the copy on the ad plus the copy on the sales page/landing page is more important to making you $$$ than the engagements are!

Sounds like your targeting is probably too broad and focused on highly competitive interests. There are some big-time marketers out there spending serious $$$ on clicks because they have an average order value of $200 - $2,000... They can and will outspend you if you go up against them...

      How do I figure out what moving parts to tackle ?
      Reach 167, impressions 492. I targeted Frank Kern only.
      Thanks Miles

      +Brent Peluso you should shoot for 30 interests... ruclips.net/video/1g17t182OgA/видео.html
      Frank Kern is definitely an expensive interest... Dude is like a godfather... Gotta dig deep and find the less known people other advertisers aren't bidding on.

    Hi Miles, I have recently set up my Business manager account on Facebook, I have taken few projects from clients. I have few questions if you could answer.
    1) Power editor in my Business Manager account keeps on loading. How do I resolve that? Should I be contacting Facebook for help? I have the link just let me know if I need to contact them for this issue.
    2) One of my clients has a Facebook page and I have access to the same, but I want my client to set up payment, So should I also have access to his personal FB Adverts account to create ads for him? I know how to get access I was just confused if client can set up payment through his Facebook Page account or not. I don't know if I can use his page to create ads, I will have to use another adverts account to do so. It's a very confusing question I know, hope you get it :)

    thanks miles. I tried to build lookalike audience from the list of my customers, but it didn't let me, it said my list is not big enough. how big should be the list? Also fb says that if you set up a lookalike audience from your customers, they will be automatically excluded from the audience.

    This is great stuff.
    But, if you don't have a list to make a look-alike or a custom audience the audience is gonna be soooo broad! I typed in the interests (30 of them in the MMO niche). And now I am looking at 32 million people.
    What am i doing wrong Miles?

      Okay, I removed some of the big interests and made it desktop only. It got down to 200k. I suppose it gets really interesting once you get some data.

      The key is definitely to find interests that are hyper- targeted, for sure. When I have big interests that have 1 to 5 million audience size and little interests I generally split test the ads set with one big interest versus many little interests to create similar audience sizes in the ad sets.
      This allows me to see if the bigger broader more well-known interest creates a higher or lower cost per lead and cost per customer than the smaller group of interests.
      You are totally correct the grouping them all together in one massive add set is not exactly the best approach and breaking it down into smaller ad sets is the move… The one add-on is to split test several smaller interest groups in different ad sets to really identify the interests that work the best for you.

    Sir I have another question, I've set the date of my ads July 6, 2017 9 am, and will end up on July 8, 2017 9 am.. But why is that it's seems that it's not running? I don't get any notification from Facebook of people's engagement. I'm hoping for your response. I'm on the learning stage sir.

      That is a very narrow window... How large is your audience? What is your relevance score? Are you doing manual bidding? If so, let Ffacebook run the bidding.

      Yes Sir I used the manual as I followed your instruction in this video, I boost it for 200 PESO in our money here in the Philippines or for 10$ just for experiment. I got zero result and it reach only few people, 31 woman and 39 man, I used the lead generation objective, But it's okay sir I will just watch your video tutorial.. Thank you for the response.

    I am trying to create an ad for my addiction recovery program. It keeps getting denied. The reason for denial does not match my ad. Someone else told me it is because of the words addiction and or recovery. I have edited it so much that you cannot tell in any way it is about a recovery program which obviously defeats the purpose. Any suggestions?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 лет назад

      That is a very difficult situation... Sometimes it can literally be the word "you" In an ad holding it up because that becomes "personal attribute" which is against their terms.
      All their terms are here: facebook.com/policies/ads/
      It's all about continuing to test your approach and finding that balance that gives you the angle you need to clearly identify with your prospects what you do but in a way that works within Facebook's ad policies. There are many people marketing gray area prohibited items on Facebook through some really creative advertising.
      I would do a lot of research with these tools covered in this video: ruclips.net/video/or7HZaMyt_c/видео.html
      See if you can find someone in a similar or even different niche but similar kind of gray area and find how they were able to get an ad going, then figure a way to leverage that concept for what you're doing
