I wondered why show opened without the opener, and when I learnt why I wont lie my heart sunk so I can only imagine for you both who knew him first hand. You boys were good people to him and I couldn't help but look back on the tweet by him specifically expressing appreciation to Wally and Ian... You are good people. May he be at peace where ever he is 😥💛🧡❤🖤
Losing simmer hits close to home.
This past year, I dealt with some dark demons. It wasn’t until I opened up about these thoughts, that I got the help I needed.
Always remember the light the person brought to our lives.

I'll remember Simmer always as a positive voice, funny and wise. On the podcast in particular, I'll remember him as Bird Feeder Champion, and master waster of Brent's time with Yorkie as his co-conspirator. Rest in peace Shawn.
I echo a lot of what is said here about Simmer, his character, stories, etc. and how much everyone feels for you both, Wally and Yorkie, in the loss of your friend. I was really touched by Brent's story about the birdhouse and the lone bird that showed up and looked at Brent. Pretty tough to deny that being a sign of Simmer coming to visit you in that moment, Wally. Take comfort in that...I've no doubt you'll remember that for the rest of your life. My condolences to you both, Simmer's family. Prayers of strength for you both to get through this, and patience for you both to allow yourselves to grieve and feel what needs to be felt in this moment. Take care, gents.
Damn, I'm floored. Condolences to all who knew Simmer. Got to watch Black Sabbath with him in the TSN1200 Booth at CTC a few years back. Had great hockey talks with him. RIP Simmer.

It’s strange. Just a few days ago, I was listening to the pod, wondering if I had missed an episode. Sitting wondering why Simmer was no longer on the show regularly. No longer part of the intro. Was wondering if I had missed something, somewhere.
I was deeply saddened to hear the news today. As someone who religiously listened to TSN1200 all day, driving around Ottawa in the truck. You feel like, on a personal level, you’ve built a relationship with these people, even if the relationship is one sided.
Almost immediately when I heard the news. I instantly thought of Brent. I felt that this was going to impact the Senators community on a big scale. But deep down, felt that this one would hit Wally hard. I’ve patiently been waiting for a statement and it was beautiful.
Well said Wally. As someone who has memorabilia from friends who are no longer here. They are definitely tough to look at in the present. But become great things to have in the future, to look back on.
My condolences to the family, I couldn’t even imagine.

That’s so tough guys. I know that helpless feeling after I lost my dad in 2016 after years and years of helping him battle with his mental health and trying everything to get him out of ruts and depression. But sometimes those battles are just too tough no matter how much help you try to give them 😔 Simmer was great on the pod and seemed like a great person to be around. RIP Simmer 😢

It's really telling that in the past, I would have gotten this news on the radio. But ever since they neutered TSN 1200 of its best and brightest, I've been a Sens podcast fan, with this show at the top. Simmer was a funny guy who meandered a bit but I could still hear his stories over and over. His hockey takes were always original and insightful however pessimistic they came across sometimes. I was really rooting for him to come back, even to his own podcast which I followed until he quit it. Simmer will be missed.

My deepest condolences on your loss. There are no words that I can muster that would do justice to him. He was a great guy. Loved when he was on the show. He was very interactive with us fans especially on X. Imagine having a heart so big that despite fighting your own battle everyday inside your own head, that you still take time out to respond to the fans you have. He did that regularly. We'll all miss you Simmer.
