    One of the best car accessories has already come and gone. Maybe 10 - 15 years ago one of the Japanese car makers equipped their cars with a built - in solar panel that would either trickle charge your battery or could be switched to operate an interior fan to keep your car cool on hot days. I don't know why that didn't catch on, I'd love one of those right now.

    I'd rather have regular mirrors than cameras. Cameras make it feel more artificial while mirrors reflect the reality as is, which I like. But I think it's a matter of personal taste, though.

    • @stevebabiak6997
      @stevebabiak6997 3 года назад +5

      Plus the camera has many electronic parts, a failure of any one could disable the camera; with a mirror, you pretty much have to get sideswiped to lose the function, and a camera would have the same outcome when sideswiped but cost far more to repair or replace.

    • @MrJest2

      @@UnchartedMarine It's not the radio; it's the mounting on the windshield. Most places have strict limits on size and location of window-mounted objects; a full size dual-band radio head would be too large. Again, local laws vary so in some places it would be OK.

    News Flash, you won't have any blind spots if you adjust your Mirrors CORRECTLY. Other than having the back up camera to show what is directly behind your car while backing up, you don't need cameras all around your car.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 3 года назад +1

      Not true. Without technology you'll always have at least 2 blind spots. Or do you have xray vision to see through the columns?

    • @Love2Cruise
      @Love2Cruise 3 года назад +2

      If you adjust your side mirrors so that the sides of your own vehicle are barely showing on the inside edges of those mirrors, there won’t be any blind spots. Why? By the time vehicles in the next lane moves ahead and outside of the side mirror, it would be visible within your peripheral vision. If they are slower, once they are out of your peripheral they are in the side mirror and eventually your center mirror.
      But that’s assuming people use mirrors. With a snowstorm coming, let’s count how the drivers out there driving without clearing snow off their side mirrors and back windshield.

    • @jmackinjersey1
      @jmackinjersey1 3 года назад +2

      @@SmallSpoonBrigade Extremely true. If you set your mirrors properly, you will not have a blind spot on the sides of your vehicle and will not have to turn your head when changing lanes.
      Simple way to do it is to sit normally in the seat, position your Left mirror until you can barely see the rear of your car. Then tilt your head to the left until your ear is as close to your shoulder or toughing. Then adjust the mirror until you can see just the tip of the rear quarter panel of the car. Then repeat the same on the Right side of the car.
      You will then see a car approaching from the center rear view mirror. Once that car travels on either side of your car, it will disappear from the center mirror and then appear in the left or right side rear view mirror. As soon as the front of the car disappears from the side mirror, it will be next to you and you will be able to see it in your peripheral vision and then continue to be seen clearly by your eyes. Same in reverse as you pass a car or object.
      I've been using that technique sine I've been driving, back in the 80's as a kid on a farm. Never sideswiped or had any sort of incident like that.

    You need a license to sell poses and use these radios. Also no one will talk with you if you don’t have a license. If you access a repeater you can catch another charge. This is not the toy FSR or any of those things you played with as a child. Just ignore the silly sales pitch.

      The Communications Act of 1934 (the “Act”) prohibits anyone from transmitting “energy or communications or signals by radio within the United States except under and in accordance with the Act and with a license.” CB operators are not required to have a license because the FCC’s rules authorize their operation, but only where that operation otherwise complies with the FCC’s rules. However, one of those rules is that “CB operators may not attach external radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers . . . to certificated CB transmitters in any way.” The FCC assumes that a person is using an amplifier if it “is located on the individual’s premises and if there is other evidence showing that a CB station was operated with more power than allowed by the Rules.” Under this test, the FCC found that the Oklahoma resident operated his CB station with the amplifier since the agent saw the amplifier at his residence and the signal coming from the home demonstrated “that his CB station was operated with more power than allowed by the Rules.”
      The base fine for unlicensed operation is $10,000, and the FCC has discretion to increase the fine based upon the circumstances. In this case, the local FCC office had previously sent two written warnings to the resident warning him that using an amplifier with a CB transmitter violated the Communications Act and the FCC’s Rules. Because of this, the FCC determined that a $5,000 increase from the base fine was warranted and imposed a fine of $15,000.

YOU DO NOT NEED A LICENSE TO OPERATE A DUAL BAND RADIO!!! First... anyone can enjoy receiving (listening) on any frequency. Second, MURS frequencies can be used to transmit and/or receive WITHOUT a license so go enjoy 151.820 THROUGH 154.600

    You did not mention that you cannot talk on an amateur radio without a license. That is something that has become a problem lately is that there are people buying ham radio transceivers and talking on them without a license resulting in problems for those like myself who are licensed by way of these people interfering with communications by licensed radio amateurs who are helping during natural disasters. I am all for people joining the hobby and getting their license and getting on the radio but I don't like people getting these radios and talking on them without any knowledge of the rules.
