a great, powerfully gentle and unique voice with which John performs this song for us. Not only the passers-by on O'Connell Street are delighted, but also all of us listeners at home
@@ballyogan18 ...sorry, what are you talking about..."The Fields Of Athenry" was written and sung by one of the most successful Irish folk rock bands ever "The Dubliners" ..it's truely a wonderful Irish ballad!
@@dublincitytoday Hi Sean...very well done, thank you so much! I can't understand those rude people acting like this without any reason... thanks again, have a great sunday, stay happy and healthy my friend🤗❤ Ute
John's voice is really remarkable. He gives this beautiful song a very special note, and you can't but listen to his song full of joy. Thank you for this special treat!
what a fantastic artist he is so much passion is those vocals what a fantastic find he was Sean reckon we are going to hear a lot more of John over the coming year cheers loved it ❤👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Heya My Friend Shawn/DCT - there's something unique w/ this video - it's so real - engaging - and looks like a street scene in a movie - beautiful job, thank u. I hope ur doing well and surviving the Dublin weather ☕🍀🍵. Lotsa 💖🙏🏻💖. Bravo John - what a pure, story-telling, impressive voice - a lovely performance. Hope to see u more often 😁.
Hi Cheryl, lovely to hear from you as always my friend. Yes John has a fantastic voice and he's a really nice guy. I would love to record more videos on O'Connell Street, hopefully we will begin to see more acts perform there. I hope you're keeping happy and well, much love and best wishes from Dublin 🙏❤️😇
Wonderful performance! I am puzzled why there are not more buskers that sing classical Irish folk songs. Play an older album of someone like Tommy Makem and you will see a lot of these type of Irish songs ( Finnigan’s Wake for example was a funny song about a deceased man rising up at his own wake to join in the festivities). Ok …in another comment it was pointed out this song is not so old (I looked it up and found it was written in 1979 by Peter St John) and therefore my not be in the classic folk song era , but nevertheless I think it is in that spirit however).
A lovely rendition, thank you. This one always hits me hard. My great-grandfather’s family were from Athenrye, they escaped toward the end of the genocide. Tiocfaidh ár lá 🇮🇪
