      I think Capcom were worried he would be too strong. This level 2 buff makes me think this is what they originally wanted it to be.

    Maybe it'd be busted, but one other change I'd like to see with Jamie's level 2 is that any drinks he does during the level 2 add to his underlying drink level. This would almost literally be the "keep your drinks from the previous round" buff all the Jamie players have been asking for without going against the spirit of the character concept... on top of giving it a significant resource cost to get there.
    Also a UI change: Rather than boosting his drink level to 4 in the UI when he's in his level 2 super, they should add an effect around the drink level indicator that shows that he's in level 2, and the drink level he's currently at underneath that Level 2 super.

    Jamie's DP is actually hitting higher, The air grab of Zangief and Chun Li's air lighting kicks used to be able to bait Jamie's DP, but now they cannot. But nobody believe me..

    The Zangief air super thing isn't about the hitbox, it's that it has an 11 frame start-up so if you do it late against a jump it's never going to hit, they'll land before it can hit them. If you frame by frame every time it misses Ken's landed by the time active frames are out. It's why Ken is landing and then re-jumping into the active frames.

    The hitbox is considerably bigger on Gief SA1. Its startup is just 11 frames and the height you attempted it on lands on the ground before it becomes active. 10 frame ground supers also get blocked at that jump height.

      I don't know why they didn't just copy Potemkin's Heavenly Buster's numbers and be done with it. The character in a game with longer air time has a faster anti air super while a game with only one character that stalls in the air gets the slowest anti air in the world.

      Still sounds like an issue imo, I feel like it should start up a lot faster so you can't beat it with jumps. Imo, any move that can literally only hit aerial opponents should be really good at hitting aerial opponents

    17:00 I think the Idea here is to make it so when Ken uses the fast jab out of DR on purpose to make the opponent whiff their dr check, the opponent doesn't actually whiff now, they'll stuff the jab. Angry Bird did that a lot too, used the jab to stop midway and make them whiff a button or a dp, now a dp might even hit Ken's jab hurtbox

    I honestly think nobody would be mad if they just made Gief’s SA1 absolutely cracked. Just give it faster start-up, and a massive anti-air hitbox.
    You could even give it even more recovery frames, so if he just throws it out, even your grandma gets a punish counter combo

    I agree about the change to JP crouch fierce. Not sure what he uses to AA now. Maybe they want him to have to be proactive about AA and use air throw? I would absolutely love that change on Luke. Force him to DP.

      You can still use his anti air, his crouching fierce use to have upper body invincibility for some reason and now they took it out so at the very least it will trade, people think capcom nerfed him for no reason lol. Now it works like every other anti air in the game

    Medium hasho is mainly used to bait drive impact as you can counter in time in some but not all medium hash block strings

    @ 29:43 Guile's 2HP is actually one of the few 2HPs that doesn't have any form of airborne invincibility. But he also has 5MK (which does have some) and Flash Kicks, so yeah.
    Most characters in the game have normals that have some form of air invincibility to help anti-air with it. JP himself for example has 2 other normals that still have it: 5HK and 6HK

      Lots of fighting game devs are big on the grappler tax. Good throws usually equals bad neutral, which usually equals bad character.

    Fixing Manon's SA2 was needed, however i dont understand granting her momentum on her back medium kick, but not giving her a farther reaching drive rush. She's usually too far away to drive rush in with anything other than Standing MP or HP, this change is a little lackluater.

      I'm guessing they felt any Drive Rush changes would be too significant in this patch. Maybe it'll be adjusted in the season 2 patch a few months from now.

      @@bigjc5546 So you're saying every SF game before 6 is stale then, since dRush is a SF6 mechanic lol
      I mean, it mostly comes down to taste, but personally I think dRush is such a trash mechanic,
      it just creates a bunch of uncertainty in the neutral and characters with good dRush jabs can just push that mix-up over and over, it leads to very scrambly matches(I'm looking at you DJ).
      Also, a lot of characters can play the neutral just fine against Manon, she has good pokes, but she's very vulnerable to counter pokes herself. Heck, Juri can absolutely compete with Manon's buttons ON TOP of having one of the best dRushes in the game.

    I don't have an issue with anti airs getting nerfed like JP's cr HP to not be brain dead, but I do have an issue with some brainless jumping normals like Luke's early jump heavy punch being so reliable at beating anti airs. If you nerf anti airs nerf some of these privelaged broken jumping normals as well. Also Luke's cr HP is one of the most braindead anti air normals in the game and I really don't understand why he needs it when he has a reliable DP.
    Characters with DPs should all be like Cammy where back MP is a super unreliable anti air normal, but if you can DP properly you're fine. Cammy's DP is arguably the worst at anti airing as well since it whiffs on cross cut a lot vs stuff like Honda's butt splash and yet characters with more reliable anti air dps like Luke have broken anti normals like why? Why does Blanka get a 7F stand house that leads to a minimum 30% combo? Why does Chun-Li get a crazy good anti air 7F stand MK when she gets 1F tensho kicks on hitbox. It's stuff like this that doesn't make sense to me where characters with already strong privelaged anti air options also have the best anti air normals in the game which doesn't make sense to me.

      This is exactly how I feel. I hate the jp anti air nerf, but I only feel it vs the stupid annoying matchups anyway. It only really matters vs characters like luke and ken with broken jump normals that already did fine vs JP. They just made his even/bad matchups worse and left his really good matchups the same.

    The main thing that stuck out to me with Gief's EX Lariat into L3 change is that people pointed out that using Drive Rush to connect a Level 2 to a level 1 now does less damage for the same amount of resources than just EX Lariat-Level 3, and in that context yeah that makes perfect sense. Bear hugger might need some overhauls but now his L3 can be used for damage from a hit instead of just a reversal callout.

    At least Manon SA2 will work now but she still needs some help tbh. I'll wait for the end of Season 1 to see how else they will give her more tools. Ryu also feels fun too after getting the small changes.

    Small bit of feedback for your videos: I've noticed the noise gate on your vocals is a bit low, so there's a strong buzz whenever you speak. An easy fix would be some low level, relatively low-end background music.

    Drive-rush standing heavy punch into heavy hoshogeki isn't a frame trap normally, but in burnout it is
    But regardless, you can use that to skip neutral, it's just if it isn't in burnout, it's a mixuo

    what every non-manon player missed about the "en haut" change is that pressing the button a second time is her overhead kick. the first kick isn't the important one for that button.

    I wonder if they expanded the hurt box of Ken's jab downward, Juri has some blockstrings where his stand jab just beats her buttons cleanly because of how small the hurtbox was.
    You also had to be really precise to stuff his jab with something like a walk back into HP before, I still have to lab how easier it got, but it could be a significant nerf

    Dhalsim's teleport fix was a Modern fix I believe. There were weird states you could get in where you could only teleport in front and not behind the opponent.

    With the Ryu OD SRK change, you essentially got it right. Its just that the first hit previously pushed back and the patch changed the first hit to now knock down. While its quality of life, I wouldn't be surprised if most Ryu players consider this a down right bug fix or buff.

    regarding ken's throw, the distance does prevent him from doing those really close, meaty stHP he would do before. he can still get them but he's just not in your grill doing it.

      Yeah. Ken's meaty s.HP has a ridiculous +7 on meaty (if timed properly). The new range seems intentionally long enough that any follow up attacks will whiff. Previously if you landed a meaty s.HP you can just go to town on the opponent into a highly damaging combo.

      @@tinypig3191 a ton of characters have so many ways to start enforcing a strike throw mix and Ryu felt like he had none, he felt very limited against characters with the best tools, for seemingly no reason. between the hasogeki change and the ex dp change this does a lot for the character , and I bet your bottom dollar you’ll see more Ryu In Legend rank, never said it’s impossible to be good with Ryu or Ryu is unplayable, it just felt like he had to work harder

      @@keylimecookies Again, it isn't Ryu's place on the tier list that keeps you at 1500. It's either you're not playing much ranked or you're not as good as you believe. Bringing Ryu's tier spot into it would only really hold weight at the higher levels.

      Haven't tested it myself, but he was also showing it vs arguably the best jump-in normal in the game. Let alone it is still trading, which some characters still don't reliably get lol.

    Seems the Ken DR jab nerf is not to make it easier to punish, but more consistent. Where as previously you might do the "right thing" and still get blown up, now those scenarios are weighted in favor of the check.

      Exactly, anti-air nerfs are almost always dumb. Jump-ins in this game lead to massive damage, corner carry, and generally great oki. Nerfing the answers to that sucks and just encourages yolo gameplay.

    Can't wait for season 10 update where Shin Ryu is in the game and he get Tengu Stones for Super 2, Both denji hadounkens as super 1 and an actual Dragon going out with him with the Denjin Shoryuken and bitting the opponent like Shiryu or Goku with the Dragon First.

    Slight and measured balance changes are almost always better than broad and sweeping ones. Hopefully Capcom is more consistent with their update schedule going forward, but most of these changes feel really measured and good and not game or character breaking

    For JP, what is the difference between “immediate scaling value” and “initial scaling value”?

      Immediate means it will scale it to that number as soon as you do it in a combo (unless the scaling is already worse). Initial means that when it starts a combo it starts it at that scaling.

    Some of the stand jab changes are a puzzle. Part of my brain says they're actually changes made in advance of something in the future, not really as relevant right now.

    People are flipping out about the JP cr.hp nerf. I dont think demonstrating it against Lukes jump fierce is the best benchmark. Both Luke and Kens j.hp should be nerfed in the big patch, not have everyone's normal AA be advantaged to the point that you can do last minute panic normals. JP's already has a good hitbox still. A normal trading with one of the best jump ins in the game isnt surprising when that happens to almost everyone else too.

      What makes jp cheap is most jp players dont do anything but spam and run the lack of him having interactions in the game is very annoying he basically wins without trying which is sad players need to play him in a different way that people can actually see that they have skill and that there not being carried cause 99.9 percent of jp players are carried and thats facts

    Think the removal of JP’s invincibility on his normal anti air is from just how amazing its hitbox is. Was always the one button solution. You mention Guile’s crouch heavy, but the hitbox is very small that it doesn’t work in every situation.

      Guile’s crouch fierce actually doesn’t have any air invulnerability hurt boxes. Guess Capcom figures that if you have down charge you should be Flash kicking anyway 🤷

      Guile has an alternative flash kick as an anti air. 2hp is jps only option and having to trade and take counter damage almost everytime sucks.

      Guiles 2HP trades a lot, it's ok sometimes when you can't charge FK, 2HP was JPs only AA since 6HK is too slow and distance dependant, I actually feel bad for JP this was not the right thing to target at all

    Having played yesterday, after the patch, I can tell the "nerfs" are irrelevant for Luke and Ken. Why would they nerf the air tatsu? That's just offending the people's intelligence. The real problem with ken is his crouching medium kick and corner carry. Either make that crouching medium kick's hitbox slightly shorter, make the kick slower at the startup, or reduce corner carry a bit. That' could really help. Still, the real problem keeps being Luke. What they should have done is reducing the active frames of that crouching medium punch. I know at low level Luke players win by spamming it mindlessly and buffering into DR, but in high level, players only need to press it once to define a round because literally any button you press will just crash into it. I'm very thankful for the changes on JP, though. You can actually feel those changes as something useful. He's still very strong, though. That's how broken he was.

    If this is only the start of JP nerfs it has me pretty worried for the character. I'm fine with amnesia being nerfed because it was pretty ridiculous but literally no SG gain from a following combo? His AA being that much worse? And breaking the DG gain rules for fireball parries just to nerf his departure seems pretty heavy. I get people hate him but they shouldn't just kneecap him in the actual patch because people refuse to learn how to play against him

    The JP anti air nerf feels like capcom has embraced JP being an arcsys zoner instead of a street fighter style zoner. AKA more about full screen combos than actual screen control.

    Jamie now has to be moved a bit higher in the tier list and he is gonna be more annoying, because now getting a dri k after a simple throw is very powerful, but he is still plus most if the time, which is bad for anyone on the receiving hand.
    It is outrageous that Honda got no fix on the ridiculous Hurtbox during butt slam, and be grabbable at start of OD headbutt

    I like how they didn’t gut JPs identity, but provided some counter play to him. They could have nerfed his zoning or his juggles or something, but that wouldn’t be JP anymore. Instead now jump ins are more consistent Vs him and parrying is more rewarding, both of which don’t make JP weaker. Just counterplay is stronger

Like I said, the JP nerfs are okay if you didn’t remove his one consistent anti-air. Also the air throw hit box is stupidly unreliable. and as far as I’m aware from when I played Vega, his cr.HP was effective against most air normals and he also had air slash

    I really do want to know the logic behind, "Jamie can full combo into super, drain half of the enemy's healthbar, and get a drink in, and still have advantage." Seems to me like that should go back into neutral at most.

      Easy: Jamie has worked you into the corner, invested super meter to do a super and sacrificed some of the damage off of the ender to get a drink level instead.
      The trade-off for Jamie's drinks right now seems to be less about going back to neutral and more having to spend some other resource to keep his aggression up... and most of his workable advantage off of his drink follow-ups is only available if he's worked you into the corner, which isn't an easy feat for a jamie with no drinks in him.
