BarlowGirl is an American Christian rockCCM band from Elgin, Illinois. The band is composed of sisters Alyssa Barlow (lead vocals, bass, keyboard), Becca Barlow (backing vocals, guitar), and Lauren Barlow (lead vocals, drums).The band has won several awards in their genre; their song "Never Alone" was the longest running #1 song in 2004 on Radio and Records Christian Hit Radio (CHR) and Christian Rock charts, and was the "Song of the Year" on both charts. BarlowGirl became the best selling new Christian artist of 2004.
Their song "I Need You to Love Me" was released at the end of 2005. The single broke the record on Christian Radio & Retail Weekly's (CRW) Christian CHR chart by holding the #1 spot for 13 consecutive weeks. BarlowGirl was the second most played artist CHR artist of 2005 behind Sanctus Real. It was the most played song on Christian Hit Radio in 2006. BarlowGirl was voted the January 2006 winner in Yahoo!'s Who's Next after viewers were shown the video for the song. BarlowGirl is also among the 12 artists selected to be a part of the first volume of the Big Shiny Planet [UP] Bible Study released nationwide through LifeWay and Family Christian Stores on 2007. The three sisters were youth ambassadors for the National Day of Prayer in 2007.
Early years
The Barlow girls' father, Vince Barlow, created youth CDs at his church, Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois, the second largest church in the United States. He was hired to perform at events all over the United States. He brought his daughters as his backup band in the late 1990s. BarlowGirl began writing songs and performing them at his performances. The trio stopped touring with their father when Becca and Alyssa began college, but they did perform at his nearby concerts. The trio had written around ten songs by 2002.
The Barlow sisters were given a paid trip to the Gospel Music Association's Music in the Rockies seminar at Estes Park, Colorado, in mid-2002. The sisters were not informed that the seminar was a record industry event for unsigned artists, nor that it was a competition. They reached the finals of the event. Record companies became interested in the sisters after word of mouth spread about the seminar.
The group's name became famous before the group released their first CD. The group Superchic[k] included a song titled "Barlow Girls" on their initial release, Karaoke Superstars, as a tribute to the actual Barlow sisters and their stand for purity, and effectively introduced the sisters to the music world. see link: www.youtube.com....

I used to have a disorder, I would telll myself I would never be loved becouse I didnt look like all the other girls I knew.....But then Jesus came and told me something diffrent :) He made me the way he wanted and he said it was a beautiful thing :) Just remeber that :) He knew what he was doing.....He never makes a mestake :)
This video came out the year I started struggling with an eating disorder and it helped me get through some of my roughest nights.
Omg I didn't have an eating disorder but this song and video make me cry. They very much relate to my conversion to Christ and I'm just so thankful that this band makes songs very relevant to real life problems and how God really can be the answer and he is not so distant as you think...

The last thing she told me was "I feel like no one--not even God--cares." I just want to tell you that, as a man, I believe that women are a gift to the world from God and all women are perfect just the way they are. You don't need to change, just because someone says something to you that might hurt you or make you feel embarrassed, etc. And I know I do not know you or anything, but I am happy you have become a Christian and I am so thankful for your encouraging words. Please keep on shining that light of encouragement to others. I am thankful I found those words (as I needed them so much today) and I know there are others who might feel the same way.

I have had a eating disorder for a while, and have been depressed for a while, have been in and out of hospitals and treatment center for years now, and i still, have a hard time with all of this, this music video made me bawl because it reminded me of me... and i wish i could do the same; go back and look at myself as beautiful and that i can do things different!

one day at a time. and IF you need to put notes around yourself to remind you. The scriptures are VERY helpful. Psalms AND Proverbs. I recommend an ISR Bible IF yo are interested. It takes consistency. We are WHT we eat, who we hang out with and WHAT we allow through our eye AND ear gates. Tv/music... You are loved.

My lyrical solo is to this song. It has such meaning to me. I suffered with an eating disorder for nearly 4 years. I've come out on the other side stronger and victorious, but I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God. It's through his son Jesus that we are set free.
This is both a Christian and a love song, because Jesus is Love!

I love the ending... I pray for all those who suffer or have suffered from eating disorder. Please, just accept yourselves the way you are and try not to harm yourselves. You can find strength in God or your friends or your family... But remember that you're NEVER alone. If somebody calls you ugly names or makes fun of your looks just remember this: external beauty may be valued but it is temporal. Internal beauty never dies. :)

I am 53 years old and at age 16 I started throwing up my food and I'm still struggling. It has become so normal that I don't even think about anymore until now. I just asked my cell to sing me a love song because I am lonely and its 2020. My cell showed me this song and I listened to it. It made me wonder if God was trying to tell me something that's very important and life saving for me. Oh ...before I listened to the song I had asked my cell to recite the Lord's prayer.
this song really strikes a true chord to me and i'm sure. i'm ridiculed for being the quiet girl in the corner. few have taken the time to get to know why. but for all it's worth God still loves those like me who others brush off for being different. I went through the Mercy Ministries program, which BarlowGirl supports, and graduated in 2009. I struggled with an eating disorder, self-harm, drinking, promiscuity/prostitution & had an abortion, as well as some other stuff. This Christian-based program, and GOD, saved my life! I no longer struggle with any of these issues, and I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. I would suggest this program to anyone who is serious about getting their life back. It's free of charge, but tough.

when i was 14 i got put in a psychiatric hospital, obviously i had something wrong with me ..... my heart and my head were not aligned, my heart knew right but i thought otherwise. i thought i was fat but i was at healthy weight. i was made fun of, bullied and harassed. you can see why i was depressed and confused. but now i am 19 graduated from high school in 2011. i went to a barlowgirl concert when i was 15 and that was the night i committed myself to not dating till god gives me that ONE!

I love this song b.c it reminds me of where i've been & where i want to be. I am recovering from cutting and anorexia..I have had both for about 7 years. It is NOT worth it to hurt urself!!!! I have found security and love for myself to stop through God and believeing in myself & finding what I like about myself (even someting little like how a color lipstick looks or how great I am at encouraging others). It is a VERy hard battle,but I thought that if I am hurting myself, I must be killing

It's crazy what a profound effect other people's opinions have on people. And it's not just teenage girls. I'm 22 and I still feel the sting of other people's criticism. I love God and I know He loves me, but sometimes it's still hard to endure through it all.

This really makes an impact on me. I struggled with an eating disorder during most of high school. And the problem was I wasn't fat to begin with. I'm sort of better now, but sometimes I still see myself as ugly and will go days without eating. My family doesn't know, but my friend does and she's been helping me through it a lot. I am thankful every day that she is in my life. She's a true blessing.

People need to stop bullying in schools, and start talking to their children, not making them ashamed of mental disorders. I'm better now, and I blog to help other people in these situations. Don't cry, get up and do something. Phillipians 4:13: I can do anything with Christ, who strengthens me." Stand up when you see this happening, say something, and help the poor victim. I learned alot from my past, which I would only relive to help others. Which is what I do. If you are in this situation, get help. You deserve it. And, you will be fine, and, never be ashamed, for he made you in his likeness. He makes no mistakes.

I have been bullied since kindergarten. People have always told me how ugly and fat I am. Lately I was diagnosed with Bulimia. I have eating fits where I keep eating because I dont feel full. I then feel so awful about it that I overly work out or go into the bathroom and throw it all up. The bullying has gotten worse within the past few weeks and I have started cutting and almost killed myself. I am a Christian and I know that God is going to get me through this, but it just hurts so bad.
Who said I attend church? Haha, my faith's fall under the category of Christian since my boyfriends mother is a preacher of a church. I am close to Jesus in my own way. Now that you have brought them up, I also drink tea and coffee, and I will also say that I enjoy there company as well. My boyfriend's mother also loves a nice cup of coffee as well.

In all likelihood, whoever's getting asked out wont be with that same person two years from now, therefore, God is saving someone special just for you. True that JUST listening to Christian music isn't the key to heaven, but those guys are wrong to make fun of you for listening to Barlowgirl, Barlowgirl is awesome and helps people(me too!) through a lot. So stay positive, true love is worth waiting for!

Wow, such a beautiful message. I have had hatred directed at me because I am naturally very thin and its sad that our society and men most especially have such warped views of what beauty is. As far as God is concerned the heart matters and my mom says character is better than trying to life up to an impossible view of beauty unless it comes from the bible. I was severely bullied and emotionally I have feed myself lies, god can heal that but you have to let him define you not someone/thing else.

Hi i'm Stephanie and i suffer from Bulimia and watching this video always makes me cry. Its not easy to overcome it, i've been struggling it since i was 16 and now i'm 18 and the consequences are much more noticeable now. I dont know what to really say about this but BarlowGirl songs truly have made my heart clench every time.

Ela era uma garota que sofria bullying na escola e isso fazia muito mal pra ela.
Então ela começou a ir para o caminho da anorexia(desmorfia visual da própria imagem),uma hora isso causou uma fatalidade na vida dela,no hospital ela conheceu algo que a encheu de esperança e coragem pra enfrentar a vida e se aceitar do jeito que ela é.
Então ela termina o clipe riscando uma palavra bonita e um versículo da Bíblia sagrada,pra que as meninas que zombavam dela possam finalmente ver que agora ela está completa,bonita e radiante.
