It was specifically Christians that decided that the snake, plus various mentions of an adversary were in fact all the same entity. There's really no being right or wrong about this kind of thing, as even weird biblical literalists wouldn't claim that bronze age jewish people thought the snake was something like the evangelical devil, the evangelicals just assert that bronze age jewish people were wrong.

So the premise of the story is that you have Crowley and Aziraphael, one was supose to corrupt humanity and the other was supose to counter that corruption, but they just decide to spend thousands of years enjoying earth and humanity creations, everytime humanity do something bad, Crawley just take the credit and tell all the other demons was his doing, Aziraphale basically do the same, the two are "best friends"
Aziraphale doesnt really lie, he does lots of nice things just like Crowley does a lot of quite evil things (he literally drives over Anathema and wanted to let her there), is just pretty easy to lie "yeeeeahh I made that war" bc humans are evil Aziraphale just do kind things and lie that he fights Crowley
Some background on this show - it's based on a book that was co-written by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett. Neil is heavily involved in this adaptation, making it extremely accurate to the themes and spirit of the book while changing what needed to be changed for the medium of television and to update the out of date technology references. It's a wild ride, and yes, it gets pretty trippy at times.
he also put more focus on Crowley and Aziraphale, (removing some of the focus from Adam and his friends). giving us more of their background and history.

The reason for the sushi restaurant setting at the start is that Terry and Neil joked about adding a sushi scene to an adaptation so they could hang out on set and eat all the sushi between takes. I love this series so much. I can't wait for the third season. Terry Pratchett (author of the Discworld series) and Neil Gaiman (known for Coraline, Sandman, American Gods, and more) worked together on the book that the series is based on, 'Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" which was published in 1990. They considered working on a sequel which was slated to be titled '668 - The Neighbor of the Beast', then Gaiman moved to the States in 1992 and Pratchett died in 2015. Edit: I made the rookie mistake of calling Discworld "Ringworld" x.x I have since fixed my mistake.

I adore this show. First video I’ve seen on this channel, it popped up in my recommended. I hope you enjoy it going forward. I was raised fundie (but never was myself, I had too many questions about things that didn’t make a lick of sense). I did actually pick up the lore, so I adore how they’ve played with it in this show. So many little quips and poking fun at it. I can finally be glad to know Bible lore so I can enjoy the layers of the show, more than if I didn’t know it. The one time it’s been useful in my life.

The chaos never ends. 2) no, you didn’t take drugs (I mean, maybe you did, idk) the show is just like that. 3) its not anti-religion, but its not exactly pro religion either? It just is. 4) the characters are Crowley and Aziraphale. Crowley is just pronounced crow-ley. Aziraphale is pronounced a-zeer-a-fail. 5) the show is so worth it, it just gets better. The book was amazing as well. 6) David Tennant was in Doctor Who a few times, he was also in Harry Potter at one point. Michael Sheen was in twilight and a few other things. They also have a shared show called Staged that is very funny. Edit: The fandom sometimes called Aziraphale Zira as a nickname

great to see more people finding this show, once you've finished it i would very much recommend checking out the original book or audio version, the verbal flourishes of the writer are often so brilliant its a shame so little of it was able to be adapted for a TV format.

Okay I'm like less than a minute in and I have to say, 'Same!" My grandmother's small town church, where I ended up in the summer, had hanging fans in the rafters and one of them the cover on the mount was loose and I was always just focused on the swaying on that fucking fan, like "When you gonna drop? Can fans kill me? Why has no one fixed this?" cause yay childhood brain. That's all, that's my mini rant. I'm excited to see a reaction to Good Omens tho, loved it since I was in high school all those many years ago. If you ever get the chance to read it, and I get some people are reading fans, it is really fun because it has all these footnotes that are like when the narration just like feels like going off on a tangent about some random detail. The entire book was described by the authors as their attempts to make each other laugh.
Fellow gaymer...altho I've been one so long that when I started being either/both they still hadn't got round to combining the words. Wonderful to see you start this series...was a beloved favorite book of mine, and even with some changes to better adapt to TV, I still think its a well cast, fun and irreverent, wildly underrated show. Gaiman said one of his major inspirations was the stories from cold war spies that end up interacting with each other and realizing they have more in common with each other than with their handlers at home. Because being out in the real world tends to destroy politics.

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU'RE WATCHING IT edit: it was so nostalgic to see this episode again. laughed my soul out because of how unhinged Good Omens is. fun fact: it's supposed to be a parody of the movie Omens where almost the same things happen. I mean, the Antichrist is misplaced and the angel and the demon look after the wrong child, etc. On a more serious note, at least for me, this story is a critique about religion and about love.
They had to leave out a _lot_ of the jokes from the novel, which were often well-researched (such as the amusing "typo" Bibles, Bibles that had a single word omitted to hilarious result, or Bibles where suddenly the scribe launches into how they hate the abbot of the monastery) - both Gaiman and Pratchett have a past in journalism. That said, the show is very much its own thing, and both are enjoyable on their own.

I dont know if you catched it because you were confused in the intro but the woman narrator is God. Good omens said god is a woman 💅✨
OMG LETS GOOO! Finally a depiction of god as a woman 🙌
By the way, they released an audiobook of Good Omens read by the cast of this show. It's really good.
"GOOD OMENS REACTION!"
Huh, that's nice, it's always cool when people find and watch good med--
"by Morgan Terry"
*spits tea* OMG. This going to be so much fun
This has been my all-time favorite book since the 1990s. Lost count of the times I've read it.
You Don't Know How Much I'm Excited For You To React To This Show 👀🔥❤️
david tenant played the 10th doctor in doctor who, that might be where you remember him from
I love this series so much.
The Ringworld, eh? I bet that must have come as a bit of a news to Larry Niven.
Disc :D
Ringworld, the disrespect 😭
cough - "Discworld"
x.x omg. It's Discworld, not ring world. Fixing it now
I’ve been trying to figure out if I want to watch Good Omens so this is perfect as a little peek with commentary
Yes, you want to watch Good Omens!
Oh, this is a brilliant show! i love it so much..
you really should continue watching, it'll only get better and better :D
nnd i adore crowley and aziraphale, they're so precious
Oohh my God I am so happy you started this show I'm like obsessed whit it, it actually scary but I also hope that Elijah start's watching it too🎉
I’ve always had a small inkling that Viv used Good Omens (+ The Good Place) as inspo for Hazbin Hotel, which is not a critique at all! Just a cool little thought ❤
The original creators of Supernatural used the Good Omens book as a starting point/ inspiration for their angels.
GOOD OMENS!!! Damn, didn't expect it at all but I'm so glad that you'll be reacting to it now. I don't have much to say honestly,it's mostly emotions rather than words in my head right now :)
DUDE I LOVE GOOD OMENS SM HOLY SHIT IT WAS MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!
The falling light thing is wayy to relatable XD
Mine had support beams and I always wondered how heavy the bolts were and who they'd fall on
You are not alone at all with the light fixture thing which is really funny to me that more than just me had the same thoughts while sitting day dreaming XD
YES
AN ACTUAL REACTION OF GOOD OMENS! Please continue
16:20 oh Gabriel commented this earlier in the episode when he was talking to Aziraphale in the Japanese restaurant. Angels in general do not eat or drink anything. Never. They don’t dance, listen to music participate in arts or do anything remotely outside their jobs. Aziraphale is quite the exception
David Tennant (Crowley) was The Doctor.
omg morgan reacting to good omens, this is a moment in history
you're gonna enjoy it
oml I actually just freaked out, I love this show so much. I haven't watched to the video yet but I really hope you enjoyed it too!
Omg- normally I dont comment- but I've been watching your videos for a while and love them! I'm so excited for you to watch good omens!! (Its one of my hyper fixation shows, like hazbin)
YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THESE TWO
OMG!!! I'm so happy that you started Good Omens!!!!!❤🎉
OMG ONE OF MY FAVORITE REACTORS REACTING TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS EEEEEEEEE!!!
Edit: so. this is basically 500k mutual pining fluff (+some angst). I'm pretty sure you're going to love this. (especially the beginning of ep 3 👀👀)
Fun Fact: David Tennant and Michael Sheen became best friends while filming season 1 and even started their own show together during quarantine!
A few things:
1) yes, its…complicated.
I'm so excited to see you give a chance to Good Omens, I've loved that serie ever since I've first watched it. I love the chemistry between Michael Sheen and David Tennant, their acting skills are amazing and I've had enjoyed the story.
This is my favorite short series in recent years. Love that you are
reviewing. Best frenemy story ever.
Also, david Tennant was the 10th (and best) Doctor Who.
Oh my god this show is going to break your heart like it did to everyone else 😭
The audiobook of this is PHENOMENAL
The serpent in the Garden of Eden isn't named. The association with the Devil came later
Your reaction was so entertaining. This humor seems right up your alley.
OMGGGG YEEEESSSSS! I can’t wait 🎉🎉
Welcome to the Good Omens brain rot, you will never be the same :D
So glad you found this show. Your reactions are cracking me up!
great to see more people finding this show, once you've finished it i would very much recommend checking out the original book or audio version, the verbal flourishes of the writer are often so brilliant its a shame so little of it was able to be adapted for a TV format.
Hell yeah, queer Bible fanfiction, my favorite type of genre
YESSS OMG YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH
I just started the video and literally same(about talking about church) I grew up christian (I'm still christian) and during church I just thought about if any of the lights fell 😭and yeah I never read the bible my ADHD made me way too distracted for it
Totally looking forward to see your reaction to the show, it's really amazing!! Love ur reactions Morgan :3 💗🥳
Omg madoka magica reference XD I love your reaction so much, it's already hilarious during the first few minutes
As a survivor of the Catholic Church, that was the best summation of the Catholic experience I have ever heard.
i've been hyperfixating on this show i'm so glad they're reactin to it
Really enjoyed watching your reaction. Hope you decide to keep this up :) - Great job regardless!
Enjoy!
OMFG, I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THE SECOND SEASON YESTERDAY?
WHAT KIND OF TIMELINE AM I IN?
EVERYTIME I ENTER A NEW FANDOME IT JUST RISES UP-
Gaiman said one of his major inspirations was the stories from cold war spies that end up interacting with each other and realizing they have more in common with each other than with their handlers at home. Because being out in the real world tends to destroy politics.
I was "raised" Catholic by hypocrite people around me and nowadays I'm just Christian, cause that's what aligns better with my (if I told you, you'd said strange) beliefs.
Neither Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox. No.
And with that, I just LOVE ❤ this series, I'm just living WAITING for the 3rd season, I NEED IT 😵💫😭. Please 🙏🏻 continue reacting to it, today I thought about starting watching reactions and your channel was the first to pop-up so here I am 😅👏🏻
2:16 This was a real person, and this was his actual calculation that he put forward for the true age of the world according to the Bible.
omg i thought i was the only one who did the light fixture thing
Awesome! One of my favorite reactors reacting to one of my favorite shows! Thank you so much! 🙏
"I have never seen this show" oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yay i am excited 😊
I don't know why I didn't get a notif but had to double check my youtube feed before freaking out. I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU'RE WATCHING IT
edit: it was so nostalgic to see this episode again. laughed my soul out because of how unhinged Good Omens is.
fun fact: it's supposed to be a parody of the movie Omens where almost the same things happen. I mean, the Antichrist is misplaced and the angel and the demon look after the wrong child, etc.
On a more serious note, at least for me, this story is a critique about religion and about love.
I'm so glad I clicked on this, you made this a hundred times better 😂
Ah Good Omens. A show that eiher leaves people entirely confused or googling what a cottage in the South Downs looks like.
Crowley and Aziraphale on their way to give a random child the weirdest possible childhood:
Just came across your channel and I cannot wait to go on this journey with you!
