40 years old and I spent countless hours shuffling through my parents vinyl collection as a little kid. Back in the day your social status was directly related to how many CD towers you had, or how many milk crates of LPs you’ve filled
What the kid doesn't understand about the cds is that you actually OWN the whole album and no one can take it away from you unlike if you just subscribe to a streaming service if they decide it's not worth the server space they can get rid of it with no input from you or the few thousand people who also like that song. Plus some don't carry the full album they just have the popular songs especially the more obscure the artist.
There was also care put into the album as a whole. They weren't just individual songs put in a random order. You could of course listen to songs individually, but albums were typically clearly intended to be a full listening experience; more than the sum of its parts. When I first started using a streaming service I was really annoyed that aspect was at best an afterthought, and all the apps were clearly not designed to play an album.

the thing with CDs is the quality of the sound. streaming downsamples it so you lose stuff. grab a pair of really good headphones, and you'll hear the difference. *i call it the audio stage, or audio landscape* as in there are regions - front, back/deep, left, right. depending on the artist and type of music (i'll use the examples of pendulum and infected mushroom, which have a lot of digital and edm elements...) there is a depth, distance, and submersion, on the cd OR ripped at the full rate. music that you can feel the depth and sense of distance, or peaks and valleys... it sometimes needs the higher quality sampling to come through, and gets compressed in streaming. sure, it's still good to listen to, but it's flatter. and when you put on the original, you suddenly dunk into an immersive experience. and i think there's a lot of value in that. The gray shirt….lol i didn’t want to say anything when I saw it a couple weeks ago but I just say I agree. Congrats to both of you as you guys do make a cute couple and these videos are entertaining. Happy new years!
Last time I bought a CD was for my mom’s funeral in 2015. No joke. I miss the days of having a diskman with a (in my case Chris de Burgh demo) CD. I remember sitting on the floor in my aunts dentist office with my back against her desk and listening to “Lady in rain”. Feels like a lifetime ago and I’m not even 30 yet.
Dude I just started recollecting CD's and Blu-Rays. I stopped for a few years but I'm back at it. I like getting the CD from the store and being able to chuck it into my CD player in my car and listen to it or them on the way home. Then I take the CDs and chuck them into my Blu-Ray player on my PC and rip a FLAC and a 320 MP3 so I have access to my music over the home network. There is something so nostalgic about taking out the CD or DVD or Blu-Ray and opening up the tray and playing the full bit rate on whatever device you're using. Hell, Side Note: it took my almost 10 years to get a new case but finally Be Quiet just came out with a case with a 5.25" bay for a ROM Drive. So Stoked.
Yes there was a time when I grew we only had a house phone on the wall. I also used a typewriter in middle school and when cds were a thing it was amazing.
I am 34 and I have records VHS a TV with the box on the back you know the dinosaurs and I still have cassettes and CDs! Man I think I got every single metal CD including some of my favorites like System of a Down, Korn, Mudvayne, Slipknot, and how could we ever forget the Freddy versus Jason soundtrack that came out from the year 2003 to the year 2008 I couldn't wait for a CD to come you got to listen to a whole album and it was great I wonder why something that was so beloved at one time is now just a thing of the past and you can just look up anything you want to hear but you're not going to get to hear everything from that artist unless you're obsessed with them and literally look up every single song they have so we could just be easier going by the album!
I’m 21 and love your main channel and this one and I love a good cd and understand and connect to the feeling of opening a sweet album and listening to the whole thing it as well as you but what you said about music loosing it’s value because of the easy accessibility I can’t agree with to an extent. I feel the value has shifted in a sense now because there is so much the music you choose to listen too despite the easy accessibility in a sense is a reflection of your identity not in a physical way like when you go out and buy the cd and you can only listen to cds you have so your scope of music is inherently limited unless you really live cds. But now with so much accessibility the music you have taste in is more easily found so you listen to more and in sense becomes a more mentally reflection of your identity as well as technological. Any way loved the vid I don’t want this to sound like a complaint or somthing negative just an interesting thought
17:30 there's a surprising amount of physical music / movie format stores in the Netherlands. And they are not even like tiny second hand stores. There's pretty big stores that will sell brand new CD / DVD / blu-ray and vinyls 😅 Those formats don't seem to be on the way out. We'll at least not over here 😅

It’s funny to watch you and your wife enjoy a new video she’s never seen before really bro this is awesome
the way you pronounced geralt triggered my flight or fight response
So Stoked.
The rocket notebook is awesome
That “Strangulation Demo” clip, is the best Tik Tarded I have ever seen!!
CDs can't make a resurgence until after tape makes a resurgence and then goes away
Idk either Mrs Lush! Don’t feel bad
