When my Mom passed away in 2012 her wish was to be cremated. We were surprised to have the funeral home request that she be clothed even though there was no viewing. My sister and I really thought about what we should send for her to wear for cremation. I finally said how about a nice night gown? My Mom loved to be comfy, and always wore nighties to sleep in, so we felt it was a perfect solution. We bought her a nice new, pretty night gown. We never told anyone other than very close family. It might sound crazy to some people but to this day I feel like we made the right choice.

I will be cremated so no clothes needed. Buck naked. My oldest brother was buried in his favorite pants, shirt and a vest, I think. He died in 1980 so my memory is not too clear on his clothes and it was a closed casket. I think you should plan your funeral, cremated, buried, what clothes, music the whole ten yards. Less stress on the living.
    Great video!!!

Don't come at me people, but I'm not having a furneral. Straight to creamation. Then out to sea, or hang around for hubby until we can go to the sea together. Kids know everything. Rather have our funds split among our 4 grandkids we adore. Most likely I'll have pjs on and that's me anyway.😊 We've been together 50 years.😊

I told my family that no matter what I die from I do not want my casket open. It has to be a closed casket! Therefore it really doesn’t matter what clothes I have on. I absolutely do not want people looking at my dead body! They say stupid things like: “she looks good”! Really? I’m dead! I look dead! That’s good?!!!? Really!?

I'm dying (no pun intended) laughing over here. My Pop died in June 2022, my Uncle passed in July 2023. My Uncle in another state was in a hospice facility, so I had to get in my Pop's closet to bring my Uncle some clothes to be buried in. I know my Pop and Uncle got a kick out this in Heaven, I can just imagine their conversation. So yes this vid is important, thank you.

Oh, Angela! The topic! Yep, it’s important. I want a close casket, but I definitely am picking the pictures they use in the memorial video! Something that is more important to me, and even though I am healthy and plan to live a long life, Lord willing, is declutterring my life. Have you heard of Swedish death cleaning? It’s the practice of decluttering your life so you don’t leave your loved ones with the burden of getting rid of all your things. I think it’s a thoughtful thing to do. I’ve helped friend and family go through deceased loved ones things, and it’s not fun.
    Blessings to you, Angela!

    I know a neighbor who
requested anyone who baked bring a loaf of homemade bread to her wake when she passed away. She was a great baker who taught many people how to make homemade bread. Thats what her friends did when she passed away. They all had bread in the family and friends side room at her wake. A friend of mine has everything planned and paid for from the funeral bill to the dinner. She has picked out her clothes, a singer and the song, and paid for her headstone. Caitlin Doughty on You Tube has interesting videos. She is a mortician. Great sense of humor. So many things I never thought about.

When my mum died in 1976, the funeral director asked us for a photo of her so they would know how to style her hair. My mum was camera-shy, so we actually had a hard time finding a picture to give him, but we did find on that wasn't half-bad, but yes, along with your outfit, include a photo of how you want your hair to look. Your story is funny, and KUDOS to your mother for advocating for your gramma right to the end. Love it!

How timely!! Weird, even, because just last week I bought the most gorgeous urn anyone will ever have seen. I will be 78 in August and I never wanted to have a ‘viewing’ and be buried in a ‘box’ - so I want direct cremation. No embalming or any of that. Anyway, I lived in England for 15 years and fell in love with that time of my life. Ordinary urns all looked so, well ordinary. I wanted something from the UK, floral and pretty china if possible. I was just scrolling around online and BOOM! I came across this beautiful English China urn C1800! It is hand-painted with pastoral scenes and covered with all sorts of ceramic flowers, like on a wedding cake - roses, daisies, forget-me-nots, etc. The lid is a pretty pink rose. I want THAT to be my ‘last impression’! 🥰

Good topic! My grandma had her outfit picked out down to undergarments many years before her death. My brother in law was buried in his typical look of cargo shorts, collared short sleeve plaid shirt, athletic socks and gym shoes - which made for a light- hearted happy moment for the close family.

I’m dead on the floor here. Funniest video on RUclips! I want to wear my nightie to my event. It’s really cute and nobody ever gets to see it.

If it’s an open casket viewing, we were told an outfit with a high neck is required due to the embalming process.

love it! I am doing my planning now, and this is certainly something I didn't think of! I have had to pick outfits twice, and I did just what you said - I picked things they loved and wore often. Nothing fancy. It made me feel like I was honouring them. I especially laughed at your comment at 5.00 mins in... lol

I can't believe you did this, I really agree with your husband!! At 75, being cremated, done!
You're going to look back on this & wonder why?😮

I'm being cremated. I do not want a wake, so no one will see me. I want everyone to remember me as I was and not see me for the last time on a casket.

Lol! My MIL is 93, all she wears are house dresses! The only time she puts clothing on, is forthwith dr or dentist! I guess I'll have to pick her best nightgown!!
    Sorry! I had to 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bravo for making this video. It is not a topic most people want to discuss but it needed to be said. Tastefully done. And it would lessen the burden on those left behind. I wonder... if other youtubers will now post similar topics. You may have started a new trend. Love your videos and sense of humor. (Hi Bentley!!!)

My mom picked out the dress she got married to my step father. Because it was a nice dress. So I would pick it out yourself. And tell your family what you want. I want to be cremated. So if they want a visitation for themselves. I don’t care. I will be died. My husband wants no visitation. But he’ll be dead. So I’m f I want t have one for the grandkids to see him. He can come back and haunt me. I had not thought about this. And I think it needs to be decided before something happens. I have the flu. And the capris and the cold shoulder top made me cough and laugh at the same time. You almost made me die.

I do not want a “viewing”. I prefer to be cremated so pick whatever. I like a skirt/skort and a top. Keep it simple. My hubby avoids this conversation anytime i have brought it up.

I sent my mom off in one of her favorite Chico dresses. I hope it pleased her.❤ It was actually one thing we never discussed in our pre planning talks. Strange, huh? Good video!!

My mother died of cancer in 2013. Shortly before her death, she hallucinated she was going to be a bride. She asked my sister to show her different outfits from her closet and she picked one. That is what we buried her in, her wedding dress to meet Christ, our Lord. I miss her.

Totally unusual subject but it was in good taste, so why not ? I think that my mom, dad and husband were cremated in their hospital gown. Funny that I never thought about it.... none of them wanted a viewing and it will be the same for me. Direct cremation.... I have not attended an open casket viewing in years.

Thank you for this very helpful video. If you plan on having a viewing, it's a very good idea to include information in your written plans about your clothing preferences. I was the one who bought a new outfit for my mother-in law when she passed. Thankfully, I knew her tastes and favorite color and that she would want to be dressed as if going to an event. It was my honor to do it, but I burst into tears when I took the outfit to the check out. I'm not planning on having a viewing but have included my preference as to a photo of myself at a memorial service.

Hahaha! You are so funny Angela. This was hilarious. If you live to be in your nineties, your outfit will be outdated. Hahaha! You’ll have to choose another outfit every few years, so you’ll be in style.
