I already did this with Pike 140MM and i cant believe the difference, especially in hand fatigue and the bump sensitivity is amazing-- it feels as if i am cutting through those small bumps v going over them...just so smooth.
I ordered a compatible 160 mm Debonair for my 140 mm Pike in hope to extend the travel 20 mm. How did it work for you extending travel 10 mils? I guess the oil damper still is it's original length, or how does that work?
I have upgraded my 2018 revelation fork (35mm) with newer debonair spring and dampener Charger V2,.1 and yes, I can feel the difference, now it has better compliance, and shock feels way more sensitive on small bumps. The only cone it got heavier, not really a con, but a fact! But I am happy with this upgrade.
Could you help me here? I want to do the same but are wondering what rebuild kit to order. Will a rebuild kit for the revelation still work? Or should I get a pike rebuild kit with added advantage of SKF seals? TIA.
This was one of the most helpful videos I've ever watched regardless of subject matter. Cheers for putting this together so well. Upgrade kit order coming your way...
Got one of those on my first bike. I then went the long route and put in a DebonAir spring and a Charger 2.1 RC2, plus an MRP ramp control cartridge. Now it's a damn fine fork!
Great information. My wife and I both have Pikes that I was installing these upgrades as this video was being released. Our shocks also got an air spring service. Hopefully we can get out and ride them this afternoon.
Thanks for clarifying what's better for a longer travel Pike (160). I upgraded the spring already but at 160mm, the RC2 damper is what I should go with...Excellent!
I just serviced (on m'y own for 50 box) the lowers and air spring of my 2018 lyrik rct3 witch hasn't been serviced since more than a year, and it feels like brand new!
I'm looking at buying a used Lyrik Select and upgrading it with a 140mm debonair spring and eventually maybe a charger damper. Planning out my next bike right now and have a line on a cheap 2021 Norco and a cheap Lyrik, should be fun.
Would this work with a RockShox 35 Gold aswell? Should be good in theory since its the same chassis as the Revelation, but cant find any practical information on it
Meteor Media the thing that's nice about rockshox is that they do a great job of making services doable by anyone with even some mechanical aptitude. I can't say for sure theyll be compatible since the gold 35s are an older model of rockshox but chances are there's an upgrade kit out there for them. they are 35mm stanchions though which means you'd likely have an easy time fitting either rc2 damper in there which are what come on pikes/revelations. rct3 dampers probably wouldn't work tho as those are meant for lyriks/yaris
Anyone watching this with an A1-A2 model Pike... RS stopped selling the latest Debonair upgrade for our forks, but you can buy the older debonair (thin red seal head) and add a "seal head upgrade" for a lyrik or whatever as long as its 35mm. with a 12mm wrench and an 8mm allen key you change the seal head and footnut to give yourself the latest Debonair air spring.
RS doesn't recommend doing this and they revised their compatibility chart to show this. The New C1 seal head physically fits in the older A1-A2 forks, but does not appropriately equalise air pressure between positive and negative chambers. Yes you can physically make this change, but it sounds like it will have negative consequences.
i would love a video talking about the difference between fox and rockshox forks like you did with sram and shimano brakes, was awesome, cheers from brazil
Did you mention charger 2 (not 2.1) having any common problems? Like oil leaking trough its compression switch? Saw it leaking on some youtube videos, now thinking about buying Lyric 2019 with it.
I have a 2019 Revelation, which damper upgrade is best for me, the Charger 2.0 or 2.1? Also, since I am seeing 2021 upgrades released, is it better to get the 2020 upgrade which might be at a bargain now? Is the 2021 a marginal upgrade that would have diminishing returns?
I know I'm late to answer this but the best thing to do is to put the serial number into the rockshox trail head website, it will give you a list of possible upgrades, you can often find this on the back of the crown or on the right lower leg on the side with the wheel
No you cannot. The 35 has a different internal diameter compared to the Yari/lyrik despite having 35mm stantions. You’d be better off selling the fork and buying a used pike/lyrik
I really don’t get the difference between lyrik ultimate and pike ultimate. can you really feel the difference when riding enduro and trails and dont ride in the bikepark (160mm travel)? better save money and weight with the pike ultimate?
For questions on compatibility, shoot us an email to sales@thelostco.com with your fork's serial number from the back of the crown and we'll be happy to look into that for you!
i read somewhere that 35 has a diffrent thread for internals (more dense) so possible those upgrades want fit.. but i am still double checking this.. here is that info: forums.mtbr.com/shocks-suspension/rockshox-35-gold-rl-disassemble-%96-what%92s-inside-1142709.html
Hi, for a RockShox Upgrade, you Upgrade the airspring and the damper. For the fox, only the damper. Does this mean the Performance fox already has the same damper as the Elite or factory?
Just checking if I have understood it correctly. Even the Yaris Version can be upgrade to the New RC 2.1 version. Removing the original air/ oil mixed damper....??
Let’s get a push 11.6 + ACS-3 upgrade. I’m rocking a DPX2 factory and factory 36 grip 2, and considering getting pushed but nervous about going coil in front and not being able to go back.
For a 165lb rider looking at the pike and lyrik 29. To put on a SC hightower (150mm.) for mostly trail use, occasional enduro trails. Would it be worth saving the 1/3lb and going for the pike or at 29 150mm will their be a noticeable difference in flex for trail use? Cheers!
Aloha So the bike I got ordered said it’s Lyrik select plus with debonair and 2.1 charger What is the difference in the ultimate if any or is it just the red lowers Thanks
I love this ability to upgrade! But first, a question: I have a 140mm 2016 Pike RC, Can I buy the same size damper in Charger 2.1 but make it a RCT3 instead?
According to the Sram docs www.servicearchive.sram.com/sites/default/files/techdocs/rockshox_spc_-_rev_h_1.pdf, you could upgrade to a RCT3 Charger 2.1 damper. Here are the parts number : 00.4020.169.000 DAMPER UPGRADE KIT - CHARGER2.1 RCT3 CROWN (INCLUDES COMPLETE RIGHT SIDE INTERNALS) - PIKE 15X100 26"(A1-A2/2014-2017) 00.4020.169.001 DAMPER UPGRADE KIT - CHARGER2.1 RCT3 CROWN (INCLUDES COMPLETE RIGHT SIDE INTERNALS) - PIKE 15X100 27.5"(A1-A2/2014-2017) 00.4020.169.002 DAMPER UPGRADE KIT - CHARGER2.1 RCT3 CROWN (INCLUDES COMPLETE RIGHT SIDE INTERNALS) - PIKE 15X100 29"(A1-A2/2014-2017)
It really depends on what you need it for and how you ride. I ride a Lyric on my Enduro and a Reba on my XC bike. For me the Lyric is overkill most of the time until I go to a bike park.
MTB MOR I am a bigger dude so I need something with a decent build. I am going to be riding trails. And street with and eventually progression to bike parks. The bike I have an Eye on is the NukeProof Scout 275 which has a 140mm RS Recon RL.
Hi I was wondering if you could help me I’m starting to get in to downhill I have a mondraker summum but can’t decide what rear shock to get between the fox dhx2 or float x2 I’m around 210lbs and bit worried about bottoming out on the float x2 hopefully you could help thanks
I am not much of a techie, but are you 210 with or without gear. I ride with about 15 lbs. of gear which makes a huge difference when initially setting up a shock. I would think tokens would help you. I do ride with one bigger guy who runs a coil in the rear.
I have a lyrik ultimate rc2 with totaled stanchions. Can I transfer the damper and debonair airspring to a base-model yari and technically transform it into a lyrik ultimate?
I just learned that there is a coil conversion kit for rockshox: ACS3 FORK COIL CONVERSION KIT FOR 2016-2020 ROCK SHOX LYRIK/YARI RC/RCT3/RC2 I bought the Charger 2.1 Damper Upgrade Kit, but I might swap it...depending on research.
I have the Revelation RC 35mm 2018 fork with 29er set up 140mm travel. Can i get the air spring and the charger and somehow get 150mm travel? Is it going to mess up the geometry of the bike?
I have a Pike Select Debonair with 150mm travel and low speed compression only. Is it possible to upgrade to the RCT3 kit or is it more suitable the RC2 for the 150mm travel? Kind of miss the lock ability for the long climbs (not saying it's a requirement).
I’m still debating whether to get new fork or buy the new damper, I already have a 2019 Yari but the damper cost £300 to upgrade and I can get an almost new (Lyrik Ultimate) fork for about £600-£700🤔
is there a difference in the lenght of the charger depending on the travel i have on my fork ? So are there different lenghts of chargers or can i build any 2.1 charger in my 180mm fork ?
Hi, I've just upgraded my Revelaton fork to Pike Ultimate using SRAM Damper Upgrade Kit - Charger 2.1 RC2 Crown High Speed, Low Speed. The first impression is shocking! Is it not possible to lock this charger almost to "zero". On the Revelation I was using the Lock positoin while uphills and the fork was almost stiff. I am trying to lock the charger and it doesn't work. Is there something wrong or the charger does not have lock option? (I hope it does have!)
I have a transition patrol NX 2020 and it comes with a Rockshox Lyrik Select what are my upgrade options been searching the web and I'm not sure what I can do? They seem to be a lot more configurable than Fox kit which is awesome
Hey mike I have a 2019 pike rct3 and in April of last year I had the air spring bumped up to 150mm from 140mm. I definitely want the air spring upgrade but do I need it? Did the debonair spring get completely revamped for the 2020 ultimate lineup? Looking at ur website at the air spring upgrade kit, my 140mm air spring from my 2019 pike looks exactly the same. If it’s different then I guess I need to figure out if the shop that did my fork upgrade got the newest spring kit. Hope my question is clear enough
If anything, a sealed cartridge damper will require LESS service due to being... well... sealed! If you need help with compatibility, recommendations, or to double check that you truly can not increase travel on your current fork, shoot us an email to sales@thelostco.com and we'll get to work for you 😀👍
So on a lyrik select rc 2021 is it possible to change damper and install a rc2 ultimate one? the airshaft should be already the last version of it right ?
hey i have a Pike Select+ 2020 150mm on my devinci troy GX i find my fork too soft what i should upgrade on my fork ? or should i just change my fork thank you ..
I already did this with Pike 140MM and i cant believe the difference, especially in hand fatigue and the bump sensitivity is amazing-- it feels as if i am cutting through those small bumps v going over them...just so smooth.
Did the same on Pike, did you have to lower psi dramatically to obtain sag? I’m sitting at 50 psi to get 15 mm. Thanks for the feedback
Love how simple and straight forward these videos are
Yeah, makes me wonder if it really is that simple🤣
Hey Mike, I upgraded my 2017 Pike RCT3 to the Charger 2.1 damper and went from a 150mm spring to a 160mm Debonair spring. Very happy with the results.
I ordered a compatible 160 mm Debonair for my 140 mm Pike in hope to extend the travel 20 mm.
How did it work for you extending travel 10 mils? I guess the oil damper still is it's original length, or how does that work?

This was one of the most helpful videos I've ever watched regardless of subject matter. Cheers for putting this together so well. Upgrade kit order coming your way...
Fantastic video! Exactly what I needed to help me decide how to manage my Pike RC fork - thanks!
Just did the air spring in my 2018 35mm Revelation RC and can’t believe how much less stiction it has. Can’t wait to do the damper now.
Dude this is so badass. Thank you so much mike I was thinking about buying a new fork and now im stoked to save a ton of money.🤟
That's what we like to hear!
Had a pre-Debon Air Yari, pretty fine fork. Guess the upgrades would have made it even finer.
Breaking it down for the layman's. So helpful thank you.
Great video! I just got a Remedy 9.7 with a Yari fork and this seems like what it needs. In forksight this is what I should have done all along
Thanks for clarifying what's better for a longer travel Pike (160).
I upgraded the spring already but at 160mm, the RC2 damper is what I should go with...Excellent!

I’ve got a RS 35 Gold, Debon Air, 2020
Should work too, since Yari and Pike are the same.
This is such a good video! Upgrade here we come!
I’ve got the Debonair Lyrik they are great
Me too and Ditto...It is so good that after 1000 hours my shockwiz is telling me to let out 10 psi
How did I just find this channel? Awesome
Just picked up a used yeti, got the upgrade debonair kit, saving up for the damper next
Thanks guys!, My Pike 2016, now is ultimate!
Awesome Video Guys. I feel an upgrade coming on!!!!
Would this also work on my 35 Gold's? They kinda used parts from a few different shocks.
No
There is a seperate upgrade kit for that shock
i would love a video talking about the difference between fox and rockshox forks like you did with sram and shimano brakes, was awesome, cheers from brazil
Thanks for the kind word! We will have a video in early Spring about the Fox 36 vs RockShox Lyrik 🤘

What's the difference between rock shox lyrik ultimate vs select plus?
more adjustment on the ultimate but both has the charger damper.

For the fox, only the damper.
Does this mean the Performance fox already has the same damper as the Elite or factory?

I just got rockshox Pike rct3 140mm brand new for 375$. such a amazing shock.
Should a followup video with something like the products vorsprung makes to upgrade forks! Like smashpot coil conversion for the yari and lyrik
Will this work with the 35 gold R.L.
No
For broke people like me, is there any way you could upgrade a rockshox recon to a better damper or air spring?
No rockshox wants you to just spend loads and spend more to upgrade it even though they could have done that originally
@Von Huyzen I don't think you can put tokens in to a recon
Hi iam looking for the crown thread diameter where the new charger threads in ....... For some retro fork upgrades
Let’s get a push 11.6 + ACS-3 upgrade. I’m rocking a DPX2 factory and factory 36 grip 2, and considering getting pushed but nervous about going coil in front and not being able to go back.

Here are the parts number :
00.4020.169.000 DAMPER UPGRADE KIT - CHARGER2.1 RCT3 CROWN (INCLUDES COMPLETE RIGHT SIDE INTERNALS) - PIKE 15X100 26"(A1-A2/2014-2017)

Are the RCT3 and RC2 the same apart from the compression adjuster?
RCT3 and RC2 dampers are constructed separately from each other. The RC2 is going to be a little more free-flowing, generally speaking.
-Mike
Can you put the rc2 in the pike a1? Seems like only the rct or rct3
Great video,will upgrade.
I have a yari 160mm travel, i am debating on the rc2 vs rct3. Is there a huge difference between the 2? Especially it is a $100 diff on the price.
