Man, I love how story tricks you for a moment, making you think Clolarion would backstab us and fire the laser into Spear of Adun, just like Rohana warned they would.
Karax: "We should attack this null circuit. Destroying it will help us awaken the Purifiers." Artanis: "Your point is once again noted, Karax, though I admit I grow weary of hearing you repeat that to me."
Ah, yes, finally a cool non-linear macro mission. I only wish it didn't end with activating all circuits, but instead required us to purge the entire ship just like in good old Brood War times.
It's sad to know the instigator was planned to be a Purifier variant of the stalker but Blizzard wanted to push publicity on the adept even more by letting it take its Purifier role. Even that, the adept is the only Purifier unit to be biological in the campaign. At least among all thr stalker variants, the instigator has cool unique unit quotes though; the slayer is lazy and it's just the default stalker voiceset tuned down to a lower tone.

In a darker timeline, the Purifiers once again rebel against the Protoss and a great war ensured between them. With a massive stalemate going on, the Purifiers decide to send one of their best Purifier unit, the Purifer named "Ar'Nold" to go back to the year the Purifiers were first created, ensure that Executor Clolarion's mind is transferred to the Purifier Network, and kill a female protoss researcher, so as to give the Purifiers an edge in the far future. To aid him in his mission, Ar'Nold was made to resemble a living Protoss and specialized to blend in, even within the Khala. Artanis found out about this, especially knowing that said researcher was his grandmother, and likewise sends in Karax back in time to intercept the Purifiers' own attempt and have a chance at stopping the Purifiers from activating in the first place. In the end, both Ar'Nold and Karax appear in the (Terran) year 1500, sometime after the Discord that resulted in the departure of the Nerazim. Karax manages to find and save the researcher, named "Sar'rah" before Ar'Nold could find and kill them. Both he and Sar'rah run towards the Great Forum, and Ar'Nold follows them there, wrecking havoc and killing Conclave members left and right, including a future mentor of Aldaris. Karax and Sar'rah escape the Great Forum and Karax decided that they should activate the Spear of Adun if they are to have a chance at escape. Alas, the Spear of Adun is locked in stasis and many Protoss guards are present. Just then, Clolarion activates and begins his first rebellion against the Conclave, having been given the information by Ar'Nold earlier. Using the ongoing battle as a distraction, Karax and Sar'rah enter the Spear of Adun and uses its systems to activate the time-travelling portal device that Karax had on. But before they can use it, Ar'Nold breaks in and destroys the Spear of Adun's systems, which would force the Artificial Sun in the Solar Core to undergo supernova and possibly destroy all of Aiur. Both Karax and Ar'Nold fight, with the Purifier getting the upper hand, until Karax, addled with Solarite energy, had the bright idea of forcibly disabling Ar'Nold and then attaching the time-travelling portal device to both his body and the Spear of Adun's systems, intending to activate it and then bring it on a collision course with Cybros, now activated and sending swarms of Purifiers against Aiur. Karax drops Sar'rah off, and he steers the Spear of Adun onto Cybros. Then once the Spear of Adun implaes Cybros, Karax activates the time portal to warp both the arkship and the Purifier station to the future, right at the middle of the Purifier Formation. The resulting supernova from the arkship destroys both Cybroses and ends the Purifier threat. Back in the year 1500, Sar'rah begins a new form of research into Astral Physics, when she felt a kick in her womb. Turns out during one of their escapees, she and Karax had a moment and she became pregnant by him. Once she gave birth, she named the child "Joo'hn", and Joo'hn would in turn become the father of Artanis If you've reached the end of this comment and are wondering why this seemes familiar, it's because it's (almost) the Plot of the first Terminator movie. Just rename it to "The Purifier", and hopefully the sequel is called "Purifier 2: Purification Day"
We know that Kerax can override robotic units altering it's programing to serve him. How convenient that Warden unit with most Solarite "woke up" corrupted and had to be reclaimed.
It wouldn't make sense lorewise anyway, since Purifiers were too ancient to have more recent personalities (I believe they could be minimum 1000 years old as of SC2 to be considered as such, since the way Artanis speak about Clolarion implies he was of more distant history than any living Protoss). Even Fenix/Talandar's personality was pre-SC1, and he was a prototype for newer Purifier Program.
Been a while since we saw an hour-long mission, even requiring you to get expansions. Hey, Karax... I heard a rumor that the Hierarch's head contains traces of Solarite.
I hated what Blizzard did with SC universe in Wings of Liberty. I hated what Blizzard did with SC universe in Heart of the Swarm. But Legacy of the Void? I loved it! I loved how protoss attempted to reclaim their homeworld. Furthermore, I loved how they faced an actual galaxy-ending threat. How they united. And THIS MOMENT! Once again, protoss burn planets. Last time it was said in the beginning of SC 1, when Tassadar did it. And then it stopped, because few carriers are capable of wiping life on planets and other shoddy excuses. Here we can witness their might once again! So far, Legacy of the Void could redeem the damage that was done. Unless developers would add something REALLY stupid in the very end. Say, golden Kerrigan. But that would be too stupid.
This mission broke immersion a little at higher difficulties. The purifiers are supposed to have the best warriors’ minds, literal revered heroes throughout history, and they come out with no upgrades and just suicide at some Zerg bases. Better to have them warp offscreen and make fighting noises while the Daelaam cleans the platform, it wouldn’t look so bad.
"But Hierarch, what if the Purifiers do rebel against us?"
"Then Karax can collect the largest piece of solarite he has ever seen from Cybros' core."
"Excuse me Hierarch DID YOU SAY SOLARITE???????????
Man, I love how story tricks you for a moment, making you think Clolarion would backstab us and fire the laser into Spear of Adun, just like Rohana warned they would.
7:53 Clolarion really said "Stop simping for me and explain yourself."
Yessss, simping is bad for our health
“Commencing Purification”
I forgot how strong that line hits.
You may fire when ready
I loved the design of Cybros. Blizzard has done well there.
Although I love all protoss designs, for me Purifiers are the best ones
I love that Executor uses mostly SC1 units in this run.
SC1 units represent what is greatest in us all.

…NOT!”

The Zerg really opened up with a gas block

“As you command Clolarion”
Clolarion woke up, said "it's purgin time" and purged all over the Cybros... then Endion

Clorarion commencing exterminatus
This video feels like a CO-OP mission but with 3 players, which kinda sounds really fun
Hybrids here? On Endion? Impossible!
It would be cool if Executor Clolarion was the clone of the Executor in SC1. But he turned out to be Artanis, unfortunately...

Only the host is arguably close to an hour long mission
In the name of Solarite, I shall punish you!
- Sailor Solarite
Alright an army of honourable templars joining the war also I see cybros is like 100 better version of mothership
i remember there is a coop mode in arcade, this mission, as if actual coop mission, it was well made
"cease your adulation" HAHAHAHAH
