@@TheMuller35 Oh ok, thanks. I suppose it didn`t change much over those years anyhow. I miss the old places. The Donkey`s Ears corner, Sir Henry`s and all that. Good times. Great people. I was DJing around then. Just the best memories. Peace bro.

The change from what's shown on this video to what's here in Cork now is staggering; there has been so much change & not all of it for the better..... 🤔🤔🤔
@@Parseenfroo sorry for that; from Little Island to the city-centre, the amount of change has to be seen to be believed. Eg. Little Island is a massive industrial estate as for Cork City, it's unrecognisable from that video. Kent Station area is being redeveloped to as are the Quays & centre itself. A lot of Grand Parade has been pedestrianised etc. The Bob Dylan song 'Times, they are a changin' was never more appropriate.
My Dad was born in Cork City (the North Side). He told me that the boys would doff their caps whenever they went past a church ... and Murphy’s Brewery. I wish he were still here so I could show him this.
My uncle Denis is in it too, I had a few scoops in there with him many moons ago when we used to come over from England and stay in Blarney St, lovely fella, wonderful bar. The shot starts with the artist William Harrington, another regular there.
The older I get the more I appreciate it. That was Scottish ceilidh music and I abhorred it because it was so overplayed in the Highlands now I love it. Most of all at new year. Just after the bells
Videos such as this are like time machines. Music really gives you a flavour of the place too, if not necessarily the time. Pity you can't hear what the lads are saying in the bar.

I can’t see any of the South side except the City Hall and the views of it from the North Side. Could at least give us Douglas Street / Barrack Street area of the south side.

Nobody in Cork cares about all that crap. Never once heard any mention of that there. People are too real in Cork. Best city for normal and genuine people. Women are the most beautiful in all Ireland. Nobody cares about crap from so long ago, they`re getting busy or they`re gettin drunk.

Cork was once a city of tremendous pubs. Not too many left today.
88 C was the latest car reg i could see, amazing to see the older renaults/fords still on the road back then..
Thanks for the upload, fascinating😊
I much rather the cars then than now
I was a student in Cork in the eighties, I remember great times, sport, music and people, not dreary at all
It should be titled "A little bit of Patrick Street and all the North Side" The South Side doesn't get a mention, our beautiful Lough.
Hi just found the channel. I spent all my child hood in Cork. We had a holiday home in Garryvoe. I love these nostalgia vids.
My grandparents lived on Blarney Street and my grandad used to drink in Hoggies (Horgans) 😊

Aw great memories of Cork City. Coming home. I wished they waited for a nice sunny day to film this. Cork is much prettier on a lovely fine day.
We only get sun one day a year in Cork
That video was made by James O'Brien. The original is in the archives in Cork.
I was in UCC in the late 1980s. It’s sad to see some great venues of the time are now gone… Nancy Spain’s, Western Star, Sir Henry’s, Jackie Lennox.
